If by re-run you mean nothing like it, then yeah, it was.
March 3rd, 20127:07 pm
Bat – AMC did show all the movies yesterday (not that that helps you today)…
March 3rd, 20127:08 pm
The world of Braves will not end when Chipper and McCann are gone…it will just be starting. There will always be someone to take your place. Right now a kid is waiting for his chance. Bet on it.
March 3rd, 20127:13 pm
What does it say about me that I’m watching even after calling it BS? Bored, too lazy to look for something else, not in a reading mood……… All that I suppose……….. Might be the rain
March 3rd, 20127:15 pm
The Braves will never be able to sign McCann, Not as long as Liberty Media owns them, Remember they bought the Braves for a tax break not to win championships.
March 3rd, 20127:16 pm
Think of it as listening to music on shuffle…
March 3rd, 20127:20 pm
I think I need to find something else to watch…
March 3rd, 20127:21 pm
Yeah that’ll work…………
Ralph, relax, it’s not the end of the world, that’s not suppose to happen until the end of the year, after the season is over.
1st game of the Grape Fruit.
Do I need to say it twice?
March 3rd, 20127:24 pm
Maybe the Braves won’t need to re-sign McCann?
OF Jordan Parraz, 27, who had the only hit today, hit .289 w/ .362 OBP, 6 triples, 9 homers in ‘11 for the Yankees’ Triple-A.
March 3rd, 20127:26 pm
Yanks beat Philly 8-5. Hamles gives up 3 hits and a run in two innings work. Season over. Phils suck.
March 3rd, 20127:32 pm
For the record, I don’t think the Braves will resign McCann. Nor do I think they should. He will command a salary and ask for a length of contract that the Braves should not give. He will not finish his career as a catcher and the Braves have 1st base locked up for a few years (I hope) with FF.
This is about the Braves as a team and not Brian as a player and individual. That’s how I see it anyway. Maybe wrong, but that’s my position.
I love McCann and what he has done for us, but it is a decision about the welfare of the team, not him.
Sorry McFann, but that is the truth.
March 3rd, 20127:34 pm
Out for the night good folks. Game 2 will be better. I call more than one hit!!!!
March 3rd, 20127:35 pm
Fols proves my point from earlier. He lumps anyone who doesn’t live on this forum as a cave-abiding moron. How you can form such a detailed picture of people based on a few lines of text is amazing. Actually, it isn’t; it’s run-of-the-mill forum-nazi schlock. Thanks for reminding me why I don’t typically hang out on forums. All the “regulars”–read: computer-chained know-it-alls–can’t stand to have people occasionally chime in with opinions that somehow break their protocol. Sorry to have invaded your cyber turf, guys.
3 straight post???
I’m I turning into a “early evening Cab”?/?
March 3rd, 20127:36 pm
A one hit shut out. Nice to see nothing’s changed.
OK, I was joking earlier, as I’m sure most of you know, but I cannot believe some are actually professing gloom and doom after the very first game of Spring Training. Come on, people, give the guys a chance to get their timing down. I mean, if you really think today was indicative of the rest of the season, why on earth waste your time following the Braves? When we’ve witnessed a week of 1or no hitters, I’ll start to worry. Today was not a big deal. Our pitching and defense held the Tigers to two runs. Not bad in my book.
March 3rd, 20127:39 pm
Great blog, DOB—loved the comparison between Molina and McCann.
But as someone who has spent a little time in St. Louis, I think you underrate Molina a some. The dude is SO underrated. First of all, he absolutely shuts down the opposition’s running game.. Forget it, you just don’t run on Molina. He is, hands down, the best defesive catcher in the game.
And in the last few years, he has started to hit too.
Plus, Molina plays almost every game! Hardly ever takes a day off. He is worth every bit of $15 million/yr. And now with Albert gone, he is their leader.
So, no it did not surprise me he got that contract. What DID suprise me, though, was what they gave Rafeal Furcal.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a Braves fan and love McCann. But he is sub-par defensively, and is NOT good at throwing out baserunners. And now, in this post-steroid era, the running game (or keeping it in check) is important again.
McCann, of course, will get more than $15 million when he re-signs. He would be a perfect fit for an A.L team where he could DH too. But I would hate to lose him
come on brava its hard to win 200 games in a season when ya lose the first one
March 3rd, 20127:41 pm
Right, ncgary. What was I thinking?
March 3rd, 20127:48 pm
i will settle for 14 wins in october
Actually, it isn’t; it’s run-of-the-mill forum-nazi schlock. Thanks for reminding me why I don’t typically hang out on forums. _ Bier Breth

I am waiting for Soph to come and laugh at me…
March 3rd, 20127:55 pm
Poor sub par Heap.
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
March 3rd, 20127:59 pm
OK…just finished watching Strangers on a Train…holy [crud], that was without a doubt the scariest movie I have ever seen in my life…
It was good!…
March 3rd, 20128:08 pm
lol@ the butthurt tonight.
Comparing Heap to Molina =
March 3rd, 20128:16 pm
I know ST games mean nothing, but todays one hitter sure seemed like last Sept.
March 3rd, 20128:17 pm
TODD FRAIZER one for two today, hit was a HR.
March 3rd, 20128:18 pm
Not to me – last September it was painful – today, not in the slightest…
March 3rd, 20128:19 pm
We proved today, last year’s collapse was no fluke.
March 3rd, 20128:24 pm
I was gone all day and just now caught up on David’s new blog and the 6 pages of comments; great blog btw. I was MIA off supporting my college bball team in their conference tourney in Hartford, CT. Just got home and heading back to CT tomorrow since they won their game..onto the semi-finals. March is always a tough time of year.. college basketball is heating up and baseball is just starting, not enough time.
March 3rd, 20128:28 pm
V. Jim Not to me – last September it was painful – today, not in the slightest…
March 3rd, 20128:29 pm
Congrats to your team.
All “my” teams tend to choke come playoff time.
March 3rd, 20128:32 pm
MIxxo well “my” team hasn’t done well the past few years, so I’ll take a win to the semis. Even if they win their conference tourney because they were the 4 seed and don’t have a great RPI we’d probably be in one of the new play-in games in the NCAA tourney.
don sutton's wine glass
March 3rd, 20128:35 pm
see where the Braves started where they left off and that would be losing…..this team is destined to finished 3rd or 4th in their respective division, no division crown this season, no wild card (even with 2 chances now), no promise for the future (at least 2 maybe 3 years away), no hope for the fans, except for the die-hard on here, good luck, carry on…..
March 3rd, 20128:37 pm
Early evening Cab? Nice!!
March 3rd, 20128:39 pm
Bwahahaha . . . it’s hilarious to read thru the blog and see the same ole whiners giving up on the season after 1 ST game.
March 3rd, 20128:44 pm
I bet our next game we hit 2 homers and score 7 runs. That’s baseball.
March 3rd, 20128:45 pm
But it’s the Sunday lineup tomorrow…
March 3rd, 20128:50 pm
shutting down the running game is not all that big a deal since it is not all that productive in regards to scoring at any time
March 3rd, 20128:51 pm
McCann allows alot of stolen bases cause we have one of the worst pitching staffs at holding runners on and such. McCann is a good defender
March 3rd, 20128:52 pm
Molina has a 88 career OPS+ and just had a career year 50% better than that, the odds of another one like that this year are pretty low
March 3rd, 20128:55 pm
steals are not all that big a deal, fairly low positive correlation between team steals and team runs scored. lows of low scorong teams steal a lot of bases and lotsa high scoring teams steal few. If they were all that important there would be a direct progression in runs scored and there is not
March 3rd, 20128:58 pm
I agree, but if a great offensive team has a great base stealer that a huge plus. We have a lineup that has the potential to be great. Speed is important on the bases. Huge difference when you can score from 1st on a double or from 2nd on a single.
March 3rd, 20128:59 pm
Preach it …………..
Oh wait, the Braves have a big time base stealer this year…… Uh, exception to the rule time
March 3rd, 20129:01 pm
Poor, McFann. All last night she got pounded with storms – which she hates because they scare the heck out of her.
Today, it’s all about the Braves not being able to sign McCann.
I think she was happier with the storms.
March 3rd, 20129:02 pm
Uh .. Preach it, nolie
March 3rd, 20129:05 pm
March 3rd, 20129:06 pm
Hi, cab… you’re looking lovely tonight.
March 3rd, 20129:09 pm
Yeah, not a whole lot of fun, that’s for sure.
Did you see my post at the end of the last Blog about the Nuthatches’ House?…
Thanks Tom! I’m worn out. Been cleaning out the house I used to live in all day…
March 3rd, 20129:11 pm
Yes I did, McFann. Just be happy they didn’t have chicks yet. At least I hope they didn’t.
Bruce and “Neil Young” last night:
March 3rd, 20129:12 pm
Why, cabravesfan? Are you guys going back?
March 3rd, 20129:13 pm
Well, there is a block wide garage sale at the end of the month and it needed to be done…and yes!!! We are moving back
March 3rd, 20129:15 pm
Huge difference when you can score from 1st on a double or from 2nd on a single…Va
yes that helps, but we are talking about what Molina supposedly supplies and he is not gonna have all that much influence on what you just mentioned.
March 3rd, 20129:16 pm
Braves are taking not too much to Lakeland tomorrow. Might have to wait til Monday for the first regular to get a hit.
March 3rd, 20129:18 pm
Nala gets her yard back, too. She must be pretty happy (or she will be).
Mac’s offense has been more valuable than Molina’s defense most of their careers. If Molina keeps hitting as well as 3011 then he will be more valuable, if he regresses closer to his mean he won’t
March 3rd, 20129:19 pm
Both of our commutes will double…
2011 not 3011 obviously
March 3rd, 20129:20 pm
Of course, 15 feet to 30 feet not quite the same thing as 15 to 30 minutes…
Nala is happy. I’m happy. I think VJ is happy because I’m happy
March 3rd, 20129:21 pm
Wonder how much he’ll be making then…
March 3rd, 20129:22 pm
VJ getting his first taste of what most of us native to LA have dealt with all our working lives…the dreaded COMMUTE. Although his is all surface streets, so it’s not as bad
I gotcha with cab’s commute doubling, VJ, (funny), but I’m not sure what you mean about yours. Didn’t you guys get an apartment in the same area as the house?
March 3rd, 20129:23 pm
Jeff Withey a Jayhawk….98 blocks in one season WOW (game on ESPN now)
March 3rd, 20129:25 pm
Wow, just read something about an Asteroid that is on path to impact earth in 2040…. Right now the chances are 1 in 625 right now. They need to study it longer to determine the path better. Here’s the link for anyone interested.
Our current apartment is 10 minutes from VJ’s main place of employment. The house is probably 30 minutes away- given that it is all surface streets…
Well I just read that Anthony Davis on Kentucky has 140 blocks this season… that’s just insane.
March 3rd, 20129:27 pm
Yes, thankfully they didn’t have chicks yet…
How come you’re moving back?…
March 3rd, 20129:28 pm
Yeah, LAdy, I saw VJ’s 9:20 after my post landed. For some reason, I thought you were in the same area.
March 3rd, 20129:29 pm
Originally my place of work was two minutes from here, but it has since moved a little bit in the opposite direction of the house (Palos Verdes)…
March 3rd, 20129:33 pm
Unbelievable….even the Hawks are trying to give a game away late.
No “dagger” in Atl. teams….NONE!
The house is bigger, has a yard, and I love it. My parents own it and offered it to us for less than what we pay now.
In the same general area- all part of the Sourh Bay…but that’s a very broad term
March 3rd, 20129:34 pm
I suppose in LA, 20 minutes difference IS in the same area.
Give Kat or me 20 minutes, we could be in any of 3 different cities.
March 3rd, 20129:35 pm
That also makes the western migration of Yumi a better option…
March 3rd, 20129:36 pm
Often in LA20 minutes doesn’t get you to the next off ramp on the freeway
March 3rd, 20129:37 pm
I just hope Nala doesn’t find Yumi…. well, you know… yummy.
March 3rd, 20129:38 pm
So do I.
March 3rd, 20129:41 pm
Have you seen your dog since you went to LA, VJ?
That’s great! Congrats! Can’t beat that…and Nala will surely love having a yard again. I’m sure you will, too—don’t think I could go long without a yard…
I don’t know of any exciting cities 20mins from us Tom but give us 2hrs and we can be in Boston, NYC, Syracuse, etc.
March 3rd, 20129:43 pm
And Binghamton, Kat, don’t forget Binghamton.
She loves the yard- squirrels, opossums, other critters…even the occasional raccoon. The house is near a park so there is much wildlife around
March 3rd, 20129:44 pm
2 hours puts us in…Baker or Bakersfield or San Diego. Not even close as to which is the best option
March 3rd, 20129:45 pm
Tom I specifically left Binghamton out haha. (ie: not exciting)
March 3rd, 20129:49 pm
Tom – I have not…
Of course, 2 hours west puts us in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, which is not so bad either, provided there is a boat involved…

“OK, I was joking earlier, as I’m sure most of you know, but I cannot believe some are actually professing gloom and doom after the very first game of Spring Training. Come on, people, give the guys a chance to get their timing down.”
Co-Sign! People on here think I’m bad at calling out the team as being Gutless, but some cats today are already taking it to another level…I’m taking it one day at a time people need to understand that its the 1st game of a meaningless S. Training season…Its about getting work in and getting into midseason form, not wins or losses
However, Take It to Vegas People That This Blog will be off The Chain if we start out the season hitting like this

Its Gonna be a Sad Day If B-Macc Leaves because of our Cheap Owners…
D.O.B. was on point about AL Teams Throwing The Bank at B-Macc because he can DH at the later stages or if he has a nagging injury…Its Gonna be like a Pujols Situation, Watch And Bank On It!
The Thought of B-Macc Selling Out To WhineBrenner and The Yankees or The Dead Sox makes me wanna puke or get Violent
We All know They Are going to give him the Keys to the City…
March 3rd, 201210:06 pm
It will be an even sadder day if I can’t afford to go to bravesl games because stupid owners overpay for any player
March 3rd, 201210:09 pm
I, for one, will be glad to see him outta here!
His “game” is much more suited to a DH role…if any.
