I don’t like Varvaro, he has 1 pitch-fastball and it’s okay, nothing spectacular

It seemed that Freddie like him though from how he pitched him late in the season (and that was a great move cause I remember be gave up a 3 run homer to John Buck that helped the choke job continue)

I really hope he does not make the bullpen.

I think McCann at the least will be getting 5 years 85 million, I believe an AL would offer 7 years around 18-20 million a season. McCann would catch for another 3-4 years and slowly start DHing more and more. I believe a hometown discount would be something like 1 million less a season with possibly the Braves making the deal 6 years for more security.

Don’t remind us! We Got Little Big Man MEDS back as well as Petey-Pablo…Nom way Varvaro makes the team, barring injury of course

Jerad Head’s homer off Varvaro was crushed to start the Tigres third inning.

Great job by Minor to start game, struck out side in 1st inning (9 strikes/14 pitches) and would’ve had two perfect innings if Braves had Uggla playing in reg. position instead of in shallow RF against Fielder, who bounced a single up middle to start 2nd inning. Minor got next two guys out, then a walk.

I think baseball should play like some of the kiddie leagues do. Let everybody hit and change positional players whenever you want to.

That worked OK for some kids who didn’t play much.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it does happen that way. Another negative to getting a deal done early is that his 2013 12 million option could become the 1st year of the new deal which would certainly be more than 12 million… Giving us less money to work with in the offseason.

“Again…one pitch one out”

I believe it was 3 pitches. Don’t take the mlb.com pitch counts to heart for this game, they don’t seem to always be accurate. Chipper had a full count before walking, not just four straight balls.

really glad to hear about Hanson, I have been critical of his mechanics since he was in the minors. Good he is trying a better stride since much of what he did with his arm was an attempt to add power that he was not generating with his legs

What’s up Braves fans? So what’s been the take on the new playoff format here on the old blog? Personally I’m all for adding more value to finishing first in your division. But to have the division series et up next as 2-3 with the WC team getting the first two games is ludicrous. I’d almost rather take my chances in the WC round at least for this year. Not that I actually have to worry about it this season but at least as a point of discussion {:

Woody Woodward

Just want him consistent, nolie. Got to a point last year when pitchers didn’t mind facing him. Apparently really scalded the ball the first time up. But at the second baseman. Hope he can hit the ball to some different spots on the diamond

“SHOCK AGAIN Matty Diaz Out first Pitch”

No it was not. Again, the mlb gameday is not reporting pitches correctly. If it’s a walk, they show four balls. Strike out, three strikes. Otherwise, they only show one pitch. Diaz saw at least 4 or 5 pitches by my count on the stream.
