only one outing and it should get Teheran and Delgado’s attention. It would be easy to get a big head if you were one of the big 3 pitching prospects with all their attention. it is a good reminder that talent only takes you so far. You have to have command, movement on your fastball, and an offspeed pitch or two to succeed as a starter.

These guys are still very young. They could have a terrible spring, not just one game, and I still would not be worried. They would just prove that they are not ML ready if that is the case.

Medlen’s return is a valuable addition to our bullpen and our depth. I always wondered why Fredi ruled out Medlen to fill in for Hudson for 1 month. Now I wonder if Fredi is starting to reconsider his earlier rash decision

Lew: I just saw it in the AJC. His agent said: “Ronnie Montrose passed away at his home in Millbrae on Saturday. He was 64 and had been in declining health for some time battling prostate cancer and what Douglas termed “personal demons.”

Very sad. That first Montrose album is one of the all-time great heavy metal albums. I was lucky enough to see him with Hagar 3 times in the mid 70’s.

Lew

It was just announced that after Bryce Harper hits .450 this season, he’s going to fix the economy. President Obama was overheard stating that this kid was some kind of special, and had all the tools to get it done. Skeptics say that he’ll have his head so far up is own ass that he won’t be separate the debits from the credits.

A few good spots.

ERNIE MEJIA gets a triple and an RBI. Must have been a blast or some shakey fielding for him to get a three-bagger. He is not fleet afoot. The guy gets hits when it counts though. I’ve been following him for two years, and he has that ability wherever he is. He should start out in GWINNETT at 1B.

JOE TERDS had a solid day at the plate as did MARTEEEEEEEN.

And newbies PARRAZ and DURANGO are standing tall and looking good so far. Combined 3-5 day with an RBI.

Thank god we weren’t one hit. At least nine hits and three runs is something.

Out of the pitching debacle, I see the player formally known as ‘LUIS VALDEZ’ was the only BRAVE ready to play today, delivering a pristine inning of relief. GILMARTIN gave up a hit, but got out of it unscathed.

Wow – what kind of loser allows runs in a spring training game?

On a cool, windy afternoon at Space Coast Stadium, Strasburg struck out three batters, yielded three hits, walked none and was charged with two runs, the first coming on a solo home run by Astros catcher Chris Snyder, the second scoring after he had departed with two outs in the third inning.
