I agree, ncgary. Couldn’t believe the prices when single tickets went on sale. Seats I paid $28 for last season by buying a 5 game pack are $64 if you buy a single game. That’s just nuts.
You know, I hate to be critical this early in the season, but I have to question why Fredi would not have Heyward playing in this game after his struggles last season. I mean, shouldn’t he be using every opportunity to have Heyward face live pitching in a game situation? Thoughts?
Mixxo missed the memo that the Braves are at practice today. Mixxo get a grip on what is happening. This is not a real game. The teams are practicing against each other. Son, find a brain cell store, go shopping for brain cells and make your purchases count.
Looks like Delgado is opening the door for Minor and Teheran to pick up the two open starting spots. Plenty of time to change people’s minds, but that was a stinker of an outing to start ST.
I doubt that Delgado pitches the second (pitch count).
Honestly I Hate those 5-10-12-20 game ticket plans…I just choose to get to the park 3 hours early top buy the dollar seats and then hang at the ChopHouse…
Braves 2nd inning: Hicks HBP, then he’s out when running to 2nd on Sutton grounder and ball hits Hicks’ foot. Sutton credited with single…. Durango beats out an infield hit to put runners at 1st and 2nd
Delgado 1st inning: gave up 4 runs, 2 hits (HR, double) and 2 walks
You bring up an interesting question about whether or not Heyward should be starting.
There are two reasons I can’t agree or disagree. One is because I don’t know why Fredi made that decision. Maybe Heyward is facing some live pitching in Orlando. Maybe he’ll have more AB’s then he would by taking the trip to Lakeland. I don’t know…
Oh, and the other reason is because I don’t feel like sitting in front of the computer.
True, Tom, but facing pitchers he’s familiar with, rather than whoever the Tigers throw out there with the added bonus of the competitive atmosphere, seems to be shortchanging him to me. Just my humble opinion.
Ray, just because someone disagrees with you, does not mean they are challenged. I’ve never coached baseball, but I’ve damn sure coached a LOT of competitions. If I were the manager, Heyward would be playing in most of the ST games because he needs the practice more than any of the players on that team short of Pastornicky.
David O’Brien @ajcbraves
Raburn opposite-field HR off Teheran with one out in 2nd on 3-2 pitch. Towering shot to RF, #Braves trail 5-0. No. 9 hitter hit that.
Boesch just hit a long homer to RF off Teheran on 0-1 pitch with two out, 2nd homer of inning. No. 9 hitter Ryan Raburn hit opposite-field HR with one out.
At some point you have to trust the Braves Coaching staff and the reasons they schedule what is best for the team and individual players. I will certainly go with their decisions over my bartenders, lawn guy and my accountants feelings
