DOB this is a longshot and may be asking too much, but my 5 year old son is a huge Jason Aldean fan. Is there any way to get Aldean to sign my son a ball and send to him?
I had the privilege of living with Evan and playing with him at UTPB. He was and still is an inspiration to myself and many of his former teammates. He deserves everything he gets and I am very proud to call him my friend.
Braves slugger? How can there be Braves slugger I’ve never heard of? Oh, OK, minor league slugger. Hopefully he makes it big with the big club in a couple years and Mac moves to left or third base.
Lew, my preference for Delgado/Teheran over Minor doesn’t upset me or make me unhappy… quite the opposite. I’m absolutely thrilled that the Braves have the depth for such a debate to be taking place.
Honestly, just the mental picture of Mac playing the hot corner gives rise to nightmare scenarios – not to mention humor the likes of his slide into third on that triple.
Watched Bethancourt and Gattis last year in Rome. You could tell right away that Gattis is a baseball player. Bethancourt looks good in the uni but it did not take long to see that Gattis is a special talent and needed time behind the plate for the Rome Braves. I would not change his position any time soon. Great athletes do not always become great baseball players. Watched B-Mac play in Rome too and Gattis reminds me a lot of him at that level. Gattis just needs to keep focus and he will be special in Atlanta.
“The pig is an amazing animal! You feed a pig an apple, it makes bacon! Think about that—it’s taking an apple, essentially garbage, and giving you bacon! That’s magic, or the most success recycling process ever!…”
raleigh, she managed to sleep through the night, for the first time in 4 days, so that’s something. No fever this morning either, but still a bad cough. Thanks for asking.
This morning she told me how space tornadoes made the dinosaurs get exed and stinky, and that’s why they don’t exist anymore.
Which brings me to a new business idea I’ve been kicking around. This is not in place of the Sopapillaporium, but might actually help fund it. As some of you know, I’ve been making video games for the last 15+ years. While listening to the 4 year old tell one of her magical stories the other night about a superhero named Invisible Man it dawned on me that her stories would make awesome games.
So, sometime this month, I’m going to post a new project to the crowd-funding site Kickstarter. I’m going to get the 4 year old on video, telling one of her awesome stories, and then I’m going to turn that story into a game for iOS and Android devices. I’ll be hitting you all up for donations, or at the very least to help spread the word, so stay tuned and start saving your $$$. It’s gonna be huge.
reckingball – I LOVE ham, bacon, pork chops, pork roast, sausage, ribs, BBQ…ALMOST all things pork…but you may have my share of the chittlins. You gotta draw the line somewhere.
teacher asked the class, what is your favorite animal. I said bacon. She got mad, said that wasn’t funny, I know that it was everyone was laughing. She sent me to the Principal. He laughed that said I shouldn’t do that. I am confused. Mom and Dad taught me to be honest. Dad said teacher was probably a vegan, don’t worry about it.
Next day, she asked what is favorite live animan. I said Pig, she asked why? I said cause you get bacon and sausage from pigs. She sent me back to the Pricipal. He laughed and then said don’t do that any more.
Next day she asked person we most admired. I said Jimmy Dean. Guess where I am now?
For an extra $20 you can add MiLB.TV to your MLB.TV package. Not many AA or lower teams are participating, so you might not be able to catch Gattis or the lower level guys often, but you’d be able to watch quite a few Gwinnett games.
That’s the cost of 6 breakfast tacos and a couple of drinks… probably worth it.
Murph … my seven year old is full of creative and exciting stories. At 4, she didn’t have all the plot elements nailed down. But yes, much interesting and creative stuff spews out of the young’uns. Capture it if you can. And, keep the 4 year old away from Disney as much as possible or she’ll get homogenized.
i REALLY love the story (all us recovering addicts do), but does he have a future in this organization? we will at least try to extend b-mac, then christian bettancourt is next in line, right? do we keep him for a backup catcher for after david ross?
A friend of mine told me that he hosted a chitlin cooking at his home on one occasion, and that all of the guest started hoggin’ down all of the chitlins.
So, to slow them down a little bit, he threw a half of a teaspoon of creamed corn into the chitlins(when no one was looking).
He said that it worked pretty good, and that he had some left-overs, after the party.
abeee, I hear ya. She’s the type of kid that doesn’t watch much TV… doesn’t hold her attention. She’s way happier playing with her toys and making up stories.
Funny thing is, she actually hates princesses and Disney and all that stuff. Way more into superheroes right now… she saw the new trailer for The Avengers last night and broke into a full crying fit when I told her she couldn’t go to see it until she was older. Hulk smash!
Dave, every day I am blown away by the stories you put up. You are by far the best beat writer for this paper and site. Keep it up. Real quick though, what are his realistic chances of cracking the Braves roster in the long term? He is looking more like a backup catcher?
Man, sounds like the kind of guy that will be able to take a lot from David Ross this spring. I hope they keep him in camp until last cut so that he can really learn a ton. Sounds like he’ll be a great major leaguer soon.

My little bit watched Captain America and Thor with me last summer. She is definitely into super-heroes. She’s also co-piloted many video games with me (lots of Zelda games, Okami, Super Mario) and is just now starting to play them herself.
Her video game plots range from such sequels as “Okami Birth” to “Legend of Zelda: My Life as a Wolf.”

Got our home opener tickets, and can’t stop smiling. Been in LA the last 8 years, and couldn’t be happier to be moving back home in time for the start of the season. Go Braves! Atlanta here we come!
Congrats Josh! Wish I was coming down there as well. I’ve been trying to move the family down there from Chicago for years now and we are as close to doing it as we’ve ever been but just too hard with kids ages 9 and 12, all our family is here(more so wife’s family as she is much closer to her family than I am to mine), jobs we’ve been at for a while, the hassle of moving to another state just to name a few. I, personally, have been ready for a long time now as we love the state of Georgia and our Braves, the wife and kids included. And we love Turner Field and we make that trip in the summer every year no matter what. Maybe someday I’ll get there for good.

I like computers, although my NEXT-Station is a thing of the distant past.
Thanks BravePack! I grew up in Atlanta and then moved out to LA in my mid 20s. I think 8 years out here is long enough. I’d always go see them play against the Dodgers, but that wasn’t nearly enough. Luckily my wife’s been able to transfer to the Atlanta office from out here, and having a job secured makes it MUCH easier. Chicago’s a great town, been there several times for work, but I know what you mean, nothin beats the “feel” of the South.
Reminds me of an old peanuts cartoon strip from years ago. Charlie Brown had a little baby brother (I think?) and one of the others asked Snoopy if he was going to see the baby? He says to himself, “I think I’ll wait till he opens his eyes.”
Braves rotation for first five spring-training games: 1. Minor, 2. Delgado/Teheran, 3. Jurrjens, 4. Medlen, 5. Beachy. (Teheran piggybacks w/ Delgado)
Delgado will start and Teheran relieve the second time through, Fredi said. And Hanson will replace Medlen either second or third time through. Hanson could be ready second time through if he’s back tomorrow to face hitters in BP, a possibility.

abeee, do you have a PC or Mac at home? If you’re PC let me know and I’ll hook you up with a new family-friendly game that my company is working on… should be releasing soon’ish.

Bethancourt has a good Fall League, and we are trying to figure out where to move Mac to fit him in.
Now Gattis hits some bombs this spring, and we are talking about moving Mac again.
These things tend to have a way of working themselves out.
Enjoy the ride!

Until it’s PBP time, Nolie and Cabravesfan live in rarefied territory that I can barely imagine.

Couple of shots of Heyward, who had a particularly impressive BP session today. Was crushing some balls over RF and CF walls.

cabravesfan … boredom may give you the incentive to post, but it takes a little creativity and determination to rack up the high post counts.
I’ve tried to bump my stats on occasion, but I just don’t have the staying power you and nolie have.

Who’s the broad-caster that occasionally calls Chipper “the old gray mare?”
Does he know that that’s not very complimentary?

Jason Aldean actually has a pretty good swing for a guy who hasn’t played baseball in 17 years (since high school):
