Bourn- Should be,and players most like have split season numbers when traded, and it’s hard to tell how good the player does when he is traded. We will get to see the full Bourn, and how good he is this year.

“Hit 52 a record 52 doubles, A Carolina league Record and was a standout in The Arizona Fall League …… And The Terd (Terdoslavich) is only 23″
Terdoslavich did stand out during AFL play. That often bodes well. It is worth noting, however, that his performance in Arizona was way out of line with what he had done to that point
Terdoslavich did reasonably well at the high A level at age 22. That’s nice, but it’s a long way from the big leagues. He also struck out 2 and a half times as often as he walked – at high A-ball.
Lastly, though the nickname may seem a natural, when I think turds and the Atlanta Braves, noone but Bobby Cox will ever come to mind
damn homonyms their

ncgary-You mean like those Phillie Fans,Mets Fans,Nats Fans, Marlin Fans. Some whom claim they are Braves fans, but really are not.
February 25th, 20128:21 pm
Ehh nevermind. After three tries at trying to post a comment about the MLB Fan Cave I give up. My only guess is ‘wordpress’ thinks there’s an issue with the MLB link I’m trying to post.
February 25th, 20128:22 pm
I’m going to take it a step further, and say Bourn puts up Reyes type numbers, and comes close to a batting title.
February 25th, 20128:24 pm
Kat- or some one is giving you a bad time?
February 25th, 20128:25 pm
yeah ward them too;)
February 25th, 20128:26 pm
Kat-Some bloggers can break into your computer,so be careful…..
February 25th, 20128:30 pm
Re – Bourn – 60 steals is certainly possible. A batting title for Bourn would be kinda like Brady Anderson’s 50 home run season
February 25th, 20128:35 pm
I really don’t think Bourn can win a batting title. He’s never even batted 300. in 1 season and strikes out a ton. He’d really have to take a huge step to win a batting title.
February 25th, 20128:45 pm
WTG Atlanta, selling out the dome for the SX…
February 25th, 20128:47 pm
I said,”Bourn could come close to winning a batting title.” I think he’s going to take a huge step, because he wants a contract.
February 25th, 20128:52 pm
Ward– considering I can post when I don’t include a link that’s my guess on the issue. Whatever though no biggy. Also noticed the voting for the Fan Cave is over w/ anyway so it doesn’t really matter
February 25th, 20128:56 pm
Bourn can help the Braves win alot of 3-2 games? That’s providing the Braves can score the other 2 runs. With this lineup that may be asking to much. As for Bourn, where was he when the Braves needed him most last season. Maybe its because there was no pressure to perform in Houston and when the spotlight came on in Atlanta he had a case of stage fright.
February 25th, 20128:57 pm
I am disappointed in Fredi for not cutting serious slack for Tyler… he was doing his work, no one told him or Wilson. Fredi should take responsibility for saying the coaches would be there and that he is pleased with Tyler for taking the initiative and doing good work.
Laughing out Loud
Nolie, your comment “I didn’t know God was lost” is the best. Might I add, neither is God hiddened. e doesn’t play “hide and go seek.” He is just seeking those who will trust Him. Go Braves! This ought to be an awesome year for Braves baseball!
February 25th, 20129:00 pm
JoeFan- Did you ever think that Braves ran into good pitching, and that the Braves had mostly a right handed starting rotation staff, and teams just figured that out.
February 25th, 20129:03 pm
Chances of that happening again is very, very slim…….excited about the year.
February 25th, 20129:04 pm
All it’s been good talk later, and be cool……..”Go!!!!! Braves!!!!!” I Have High Hopes……….peace……..
February 25th, 20129:06 pm
Bruce not sure where you are going with this, but Fredi and those that needed to know Tyler was going to California to work out with Jack knew it was prearranged.
February 25th, 20129:07 pm
Interesting a bit. Bourn has a huge career year and gets a big pay day, also helps us get deep in playoffs or win a WS, or he just has a solid season and are chances are better at keeping him..
February 25th, 20129:29 pm
So UConn can show up anytime now….
February 25th, 20129:41 pm
Robert, you’ve got the expertise and sense of a mud flap, and Bobby Cox is WAY out of your league…
February 25th, 20129:47 pm
hey, no need to be diss’n mud flaps there..
February 25th, 20129:49 pm
Champions Gate is empty.
I’m bored. We are listening to the piano player In the lobby bar. Too late for nite golf. Last tee time under the lights was 9:15. If Bourn has a very good, not great, year the Braves will be outbid for his services. If Bourn has a Poo Poo year would fans want the Braves to try to bring him back? A Poo Poo year would be an Alex Rios type year.
February 25th, 20129:59 pm
Thanks again for the blog DOB. Spring training blogs are always my favorite but it sounds like it is the hardest on you. Is Spring training harder than the regular season? Harder than a long road trip?
February 25th, 201210:01 pm
i have been a die hard fan since the 80s. I collected all the ball cards, I listened to WSB everynight, etc. Being 52 yrs old and watching (or listening when they were not on TV) the Braves for a long time I just dont think they are putting a complete product on the field because they dont want to spend the money to compete. There is no way the Braves can compete with the Phillies with the pieces they have now. Maybe you are younger, but I have been around awhile and cant stand mediocre, and that is what the Braves have become. I will always be a Braves fan, but a diehard? Not until they spend the money and put a complete team that can compete. I live 150 miles from the stadium and I attended over 10 games last year. Not this year. Have a good day.
February 25th, 201210:03 pm
Biggest things I think we all are looking for in the preseason:
1. Heywars’s swing. Getting the explosion off the bat back. So far so good
2. Health of the starters – incomplete – Hudson out until May. Hanson out with a concussion but should return this week. Awaiting more info on Jurrjens
3. Can Pastornicky (or Simmons) handle SS for the ATlanta Braves? Incomplete. I do like that Pastornicky took the initiative to work out with Wilson and I love the veteran trying to help the kid

February 25th, 201210:10 pm
Braves at least will look sharp in their unis – classic whites and grays are top notch. I actually love the road alternate navy especially the totally navy hat (if anyone can find that alternate hat without a Medlen 5950 straight bill please let me know). New off white jerseys are very, very nice. Now spring training – love the BP jerseys and hat

February 25th, 201210:20 pm
VaFan, I think your Bourn totals are possible but maybe a bit high. he would need to hit better than he did last season in Atlanta, the rub being that his OPS+ last season here was the same as his career OPS+, which to me means that a big improvement is unlikely, but maybe
February 25th, 201210:21 pm
I became a Braves fan in 79..
But I am also a Baseball fan, and win or lose I love the game.. I just like it better when the Braves win..

February 25th, 201210:33 pm
DOB is the real celebrity. Pretty soon, if not now, he will be as famous among Braves fans as Chipper. Well maybe not Chipper, but maybe Freeman. Maybe not Freddie, but Tosca for sure.

A bottle of white, a bottle of red
Perhaps a bottle of rose instead
We’ll get a table near the street
In our old familiar place
You and I, face to face
A bottle of red, a bottle of white
It all depends upon your appetite
I’ll meet you any time you want
In our Italian Restaurant.
February 25th, 201210:56 pm
It’s nine o’clock on a Saturday
The regular crowd shuffles in
There’s an old man sitting next to me
Makin’ love to his tonic and gin
He says, “Son, can you play me a memory
I’m not really sure how it goes
But it’s sad and it’s sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger man’s clothes.”
la la la, di da da
La la, di di da da dum
Sing us a song, you’re the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we’re all in the mood for a melody
And you’ve got us all feelin’ alright
Now John at the bar is a friend of mine
He gets me my drinks for free
And he’s quick with a joke or to light up your smoke ****
But there’s some place that he’d rather be
He says, “Bill, I believe this is killing me.”
As his smile ran away from his face
“Well I’m sure that I could be a movie star
If I could get out of this place”
Oh, la la la, di da da
La la, di da da da dum
Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he’s talkin’ with Davy, who’s still in the Navy
And probably will be for life
And the waitress is practicing politics
As the businessman slowly gets stoned
Yes, they’re sharing a drink they call loneliness
But it’s better than drinkin’ alone
sing us a song you’re the piano man
sing us a song tonight
well we’re all in the mood for a melody
and you got us all feeling alright
It’s a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
‘Cause he knows that it’s me they’ve been comin’ to see
To forget about their life for a while
And the piano, it sounds like a carnival ****
And the microphone smells like a beer
And they sit at the bar and put bread in my jar
And say, “Man, what are you doin’ here?”
sing us a song you’re the piano man
sing us a song tonight
well we’re all in the mood for a melody
and you got us all feeling alright

The one song that Paul McCartney said he wished he had written
The restaurants and bartenders took out “loss of business insurance” on Timmy when he left. Man had a bad need to party
February 25th, 201210:59 pm
Slow down you crazy child
Take the phone off the hook and disappear for a while
It’s alright you can afford to lose a day or two
When will you realize…
Vienna waits for you.
And you know that when the truth is told
That you can get what you want
Or you can just get old
You’re gonna kick off before you even get halfway through
Why don’t you realize…Vienna waits for you
When will you realize…Vienna waits for you
February 25th, 201211:00 pm
Ain’t no PART-AY like a Spooneybarger party
nolie – someone on the blog would still consider it garbage, I suppose, even if Sir Paul had written it…
February 25th, 201211:03 pm

Isn’t Billy Joel That sings “Uptown Girl”???
Now That Song is Gawd Awful! That song was sooo bad, they Showed the video on Beavis and Butthead and they had to close their eyes….
February 25th, 201211:13 pm
No, it is a great song – sorry you hate it, but you are HORRIBLY WRONG – it is fine to say that you don’t like it, but you are not the ultimate judge on what is good music – sorry…
10% of the people, yes you, don’t know what the heck the other 90% does or knows, because we are so busy not knowing 80% of what we, ourselves do. Glass houses people
February 25th, 201211:14 pm
I read that and damn it really struck home, at your house
Then again, I guess it makes sense that you compare yourself similarly to Beavis and Butthead…
February 25th, 201211:15 pm
Those that respond feel a kinship I guess
February 25th, 201211:17 pm
Uptown Girl was written as a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, on an album which contained a number of brilliant homages…

My lack of Jimmy knowledge may be showing but I don’t follow. VJ would know- he’s a much better fan than me. My two fab Jimmy songs are Southern Cross and Come Monday. But I love nearly all his stuff.
February 25th, 201211:31 pm
Soph……..i love Billy Joel
sorry….just getting in….havent read anything but the last 10 posts

Tomahawkin (The Godfather), February 25th, 2012, 11:08 pm … “Isn’t Billy Joel That sings “Uptown Girl”??? Now That Song is Gawd Awful! That song was sooo bad, they Showed the video on Beavis and Butthead and they had to close their eyes….”
You can’t get the sound from a story in a magazine aimed at your average teen.
Now playing Briwn Eyed Girl- Which I saw Van Morrison play live. A concert where they (he?) opened for Bob Dylan. Love that song too
hard to imagine how anybody who loves music can say that song is trash. It absolutely nails the small time music business and especially small bars whether piano or not. Having run a couple at one time or another it is exactly right, as it should be. it was written mostly about a long gig he had , I believe in San Diego under a different name, after his first album failed.
Brown- not Briwn. Stupid iPad
February 25th, 201211:33 pm
cab….do not know that I have ever heard Jimmy sing Southern Cross….thought you were talking CSN….sorry
February 25th, 201211:34 pm
I thought Crosby, Stills, and Nash did Southern Cross. Is there another Southern Cross?
February 25th, 201211:35 pm
Jimmy’s version is the one I love so much- actually only heard CSN version once or twice. No need to be sorry
February 25th, 201211:36 pm
nope, but Harry wrote some great stuff, Cats in the Cradle, W O L D and Taxi being my faves.
February 25th, 201211:37 pm
Jimmy Buffet does an outstanding version of Southern Cross. It’s actually the reason I started listening to him. Well, that and Come Monday.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
