And he wasn’t all that healthy last year, either – but for a change, he played.
February 26th, 20124:38 pm
What I mean is that there really is no rush for the Angels to trade him- especially with Poujols’ big bat on board now, and the potential of Mike Trout. They really like Bourjos, and I doubt they will part with him unless the deal is one they simply can’t turn down. They have pitching. They have power. His defense and speed will be a great compliment to the team…
those are pretty good numbers for a CFer now days, Va. not many around who hit all that much better
February 26th, 20124:39 pm
If Bourn made more contact he’d be a way better hitter. 140 Ks is a ton for a player of his type.
February 26th, 20124:40 pm
I really do not care if a lead off hitter strikes out a lot as long as his OBP is pretty good
McFann :Ô: :Ô: :ô:
February 26th, 20124:41 pm
Donald O’Conner is fun to watch, for sure…I should watch Frances the Talking Mule sometime…
February 26th, 20124:42 pm
BOURN’s contract year. BRAVES win the WS.
February 26th, 20124:48 pm
I’d love to see Bourn have a career year and help the Braves win the world series. Something like a 300/360/370 line with 15 triples and 60+ stolen bases would do the trick
Tomahawkin (The Godfather)
February 26th, 20125:04 pm
With an Effective Running Game, The Bourne Identity can steal 60+bases. J-Hey can steal 20 and Martini can steal a dozen…
Its on Bobby Lite (Fredi) to enforce that…The Roid era is over the team needs to stop relying on Ugg, B-Macc and Chipper to hit the 3 run homers…Especially for the fact the Ugg K’s too much and B-Macc and Chipper will only be in 135 games apiece, respectively…
February 26th, 20125:08 pm
“If Bourn made more contact he’d be a way better hitter. 140 Ks is a ton for a player of his type.”
Good Point, with a right hitting Coach and A Dope Lineup who can work the counts…The Bourne Identity Could Clown…
February 26th, 20125:09 pm
Pastornicky should be able to get 15-20 steals too.
February 26th, 20125:11 pm
Prado is a horrible base stealer
February 26th, 20125:14 pm
Time To Watch old School Nickelodeon Shows especially : “My Brother And Me” and Wild And Crazy Kids
I think only Soph, Jeffrey D, McFann, The Grinch, and a few others know abt that old Nickelodeon
I’m missing a few others, Help?
Mark's for the Braves
February 26th, 20125:15 pm
Here’s to Pastornicky having a good rookie season–could we have two straight ROY? It’s ok to dream, isn’t it?
February 26th, 20125:17 pm
My Athlon Sports Baseball Magazine says that The Pastor can steal 20…But it’s dependant on Bobby-Lite…
Fredi better utilize the running game this year, if he doesn’t make the playoffs he will be on the Hot Seat….
February 26th, 20125:20 pm
What about All That, Keenan and Kel, Are you afraid of the dark?? Or were those on a different channel? I dont remember.
February 26th, 20125:21 pm
Pastornicky should get the green light alot with 2 outs and Bourn batting. The risk is worth the reward, if Pastor is thrown out you lead off the next inning with Bourn, no brainer.
February 26th, 20125:25 pm
I hear the train a comin’
It’s rollin’ ’round the bend,
And I ain’t seen the sunshine,
Since, I don’t know when,
I’m stuck in Folsom Prison,
And time keeps draggin’ on,
But that train keeps a-rollin’,
On down to San Antone.
When I was just a baby,
My Mama told me, “Son,
Always be a good boy,
Don’t ever play with guns,”
But I shot a man in Reno,
Just to watch him die,
When I hear that whistle blowin’,
I hang my head and cry.
I bet there’s rich folks eatin’,
In a fancy dining car,
They’re probably drinkin’ coffee,
And smokin’ big cigars,
But I know I had it comin’,
I know I can’t be free,
But those people keep a-movin’,
And that’s what tortures me.
Well, if they freed me from this prison,
If that railroad train was mine,
I bet I’d move out over a little,
Farther down the line,
Far from Folsom Prison,
That’s where I want to stay,
And I’d let that lonesome whistle,
Blow my Blues away.
The Man in Black woulda been 80 today! RIP!
(I’m sure this has been talked about already today, but just wanted to chime in………..
February 26th, 20125:28 pm
Its Blind optomism to think The Pastor will win R.O.Y.
We Just need the Pastor to be a 1991 version of Little Big Man Lemke…hitting 8th…
If anyone agrees? Then Give me a Hell Yeah!
February 26th, 20125:29 pm
Doesn’t seem like it has been over 8 years since June and Johnny have left us……….
February 26th, 20125:31 pm
Yes but the Pastor will get more at bats in front of the pitcher with either two outs or will be sacrificed over. And you don’t what him stealing with two outs and the pitcher up.
“What about All That, Keenan and Kel, Are you afraid of the dark?? Or were those on a different channel? I dont remember.”
No That was Saturday SNICK…That was good Shyt..Along with the “Secret World of Alex Mack…
That Alex Mack Chick on that Show was Fune!!!! She was on that movie Clueless as well but that movie sucked
February 26th, 20125:35 pm
To be honest, if The Rev can just be steady in the field and hit anything north of 250/300/350 I’d be happy with his first year. Those are better offensive numbers that Lemke was giving in his early years.
February 26th, 20125:38 pm
Here’s to Pastornicky having a good rookie season–could we have two straight ROY? It’s ok to dream, isn’t it?
There was this kid named Heyward who lost out to a Pose(r)y. But don’t get too excited. The two years before that it was Chris Coughlan and Geovanni Soto.
February 26th, 20125:42 pm
yeah imagine that i wanted to take a chance on that injury waiting to happen ellsbury last year. that would have been the pits for the money he signed for
February 26th, 20125:44 pm
Mike Rizzo confirmed the Nationals are still in the market for a long term solution in centerfield… Sirius 209 and XM 89
The Nats have a wealthy, wealthy owner who would likely open the vault for Bourn and make the offer so high the Braves may have a hard time matching it, providing Bourn has a good year.
Co-Sign on that 535 post…If he Clowns Harder than that (Like Come Up Clutch against The Phillies in late season games and be a pest to them) he will get A lot of Love on here….!
February 26th, 20125:50 pm
I would also be happy with some quality at bats unlike those we got from Gonzo last year. Needs to have patience because with the pitcher behind him he is not likely to see much of anything good to hit. His objective should be to get on base to clear the pitcher. Doing that can open a lot of possibilities.
February 26th, 20125:51 pm
If I wasn’t a Braves fan I would be a National fan.
February 26th, 20125:54 pm
Pastornicky will provide more quality ABs than SeaBass did. Pastor will make contact a hell of alot more and take walks. Should make more productive outs, and the added speed is a plus as well. But he will not provide any power.
February 26th, 20125:57 pm
February 26th, 20125:59 pm
DOB, How is Simmons looking at the plate and in the field?
Actually, I don’t watch Nickleodeon…although I may have a long time ago if they’re the ones that used to show The Flintstones…
Well, that’s just you. If I wasn’t a Braves fan I think I want to be a Labrador Retriever.
Gil in Mechanicsville
VaBravesFan You are like me, while I am still a Brave’s fan, you can’t help but watch the Nationals seeing as the are the homeboys after all.
February 26th, 20126:00 pm
The Nationals have a supporting owner, good baseball people and a excited fan base. Should be a fun to to watch. I get to see all there games where I live.
February 26th, 20126:05 pm
The Flintstones were on old TBS
But on the Real-Tip..You Didn’t watch Doug, The Rugrats or Hey Arnold when both of those Shows were hot on the streets
That was good TV! Oh and don’t get my yeller Ass Started on Bobby’s World and the old Power Rangers
February 26th, 20126:07 pm
Rugrats and Hey Arnold man those were the days haha

Co-Sign! Watching Gonzo Throw away at-bats last year made me Act Girly like Prince on the blog last year…
The Pastor will win a lot of fans on here if he makes pitchers work and has productive at bats
February 26th, 20126:11 pm
“Rugrats and Hey Arnold man those were the days haha”
Hey Arnold Was The Shyt! As Well as old Wild And Crazy Kids And Double Dare
And Nickelodeon Guts!
February 26th, 20126:14 pm
I don’t know about you guys, but I think I’ll just bust a gut and pay it all at once. After all you save, you save , you don’t save a dam cent as matter of fact.
I don’t remember Wild and Crazy or Double Dare
February 26th, 20126:15 pm
If Fredi, has Pastor batting 8th, and its 2 outs, I don’t see Fredi sending the kid a lot. IF he gets thrown out then we have the pitcher batting again to lead off the next inning.
February 26th, 20126:18 pm
Pastor on 1st base with 2 outs and Bourn batting is when he’ll run often.
February 26th, 20126:24 pm
Ready for Walking Dead tonight? Also looking forward to Ax Men
February 26th, 20126:31 pm
Va, that I agree with. I thought you were saying with the pitcher up.
February 26th, 20126:34 pm
if Tyler is hitting 8th, his speed will be of some help when the pitcher bunts
February 26th, 20126:46 pm
Ah! Old TBS…I think they were on Cartoon Network at some point, too…
Nah, we never watched any of those other shows—really didn’t watch a whole lot of TV back when we were real young aside from Barney, Disney Sing-Alongs, New Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh, The Flintstones, and then VeggieTales…
February 26th, 20126:53 pm
looks like the Braves are doomed to third in the division, not sure if we should even bother to watch the games…..
February 26th, 20126:56 pm
Best scenario with none or 1 out Pastor reaches first and steals second. Pitcher bunts him to third
Next scenario Pastor reaches and pitcher bunts him to second
Worst scenario Pastor reaches pitcher fails to move him over Pastor can’t steal and is stranded at 1st with Bourn coming to plate. Pitcher fails at moving runner over
February 26th, 20127:02 pm
CB What is creepy about Gene Kelly?
I don’t even really know…just rubs me wrong for some reason… But there’s no denying he’s got some serious talent…
February 26th, 20127:05 pm
never that big a fan of Kelly, but then I am not a fan of dance movies for the most part either
Singing in the Rain being a notable exception. Great movie.
February 26th, 20127:08 pm
and Ginger Rogers did everything that Fred did, and had to do it backwards to boot
February 26th, 20127:23 pm
I have nothing to add at the moment, I just wanted to clear cab’s name from the Name Box so I don’t inadvertently post as her since she is out and about…
February 26th, 20127:35 pm
Yeah, watching it today, I was reminded just how good that one is…
But my favorite is still The Music Man with Robert Preston and Shirley Jones…
February 26th, 20127:43 pm
doomed to 3rd in the division? Really. Based on what??
February 26th, 20127:44 pm
Just noticed that The Man Who Would Be King is on TCM on Tuesday – I have needed to introduce cab to that – she is a big Connery fan, so I suspect she will enjoy it almost as much as I do. The first time I “watched” it was back at home when we did not subscribe to HBO, but you could still get the sound with a very wavy picture…
February 26th, 20127:45 pm
brian – he is making fun of the doomsayers…
February 26th, 20127:49 pm
Dang – now I’m nolie’s mama…
Freeman ready for challenges of sophomore season
February 26th, 20127:52 pm
The BRAVES futures game at the end of ST should have some real meaning. If some way or the other Bobby can take the minor kids and beat FREDI and the chokers from last year, FREDI should promise to resign on the spot
February 26th, 20127:54 pm
FREDI and the chokers, good name for a rock band.
February 26th, 20127:58 pm
The hosts for the Oscars Red Carpet show are a bunch of pretentious cretins.
February 26th, 20127:59 pm
George…do you expect the MLB Braves will be concerned with going all out to win a game 2 days before the season starts?
February 26th, 20128:04 pm
Outta here , going to watch one of the funnyest shows on tv, WORST COOKS then late showing of WALKING DEAD. Have a good one or two tonight y’all. Still think they should have put on rain tires and run the race. lol.
February 26th, 20128:27 pm
So George was the life of the party, eh?
February 26th, 20128:35 pm
thank you mommy…..
February 26th, 20128:39 pm
I found our old buddy Bitchell on Schultz’ blog
Bobby Cox lost four World Series in nine years.
Why should it come as any surprise that “they’re all here” after missing the playoffs last year?
They won fourteen division titles in a row and barely made the playoffs one year out of the six since.
Give me a freakin’ briz-ache.
This is a loser organization with nothing but a bunch of hack reporters who do nothing but kiss @$$ for a living.
He makes me sad for him
February 26th, 20128:41 pm
Keep in mind…this was an article talking about the positive outlook the Braves have during spring training that made no mention of Bobby Cox
February 26th, 20128:44 pm
jeffrey d, people like that have no clue of what they are talking about. NONE. People like that I would challenge any day of the week with facts and knowledge of the game. Not opinions but actual facts and knowledge. I can assure you I have forgotten more baseball than they would ever know.
Mitchell, Robert etc living in their own lil’ world. logic is not welcome there
February 26th, 20128:45 pm
February 26th, 20128:56 pm
nolie, I guess they were the kid that was selected for their youth team only because every kid had to be picked and they blame everyone.
February 26th, 20129:00 pm
McFann & Cab
Another really good old comedy is “We’re No Angels” with Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov, and Aldo Rey. Don’t confuse it with the not so good Sean Penn movie with the same name.
February 26th, 20129:02 pm
they invest too much of their own feelings of self worth in whether their team wins or loses, and when it does poorly they take it personally, disappointment causes hard feelings and the need to find someone to blame their negative feelings on
February 26th, 20129:05 pm
I totally get the disappointment but the over the top reactions… the team is the worst they are losers they will never win. Its like Really? If you feel that way why even turn on a game? My suggestions for them is each season for them.. switch teams throughout the season and the playoffs and the team that is going to win the world series pull for them at the last minute, that way they can feel good.
February 26th, 20129:11 pm
Really? I’d never heard of that one…I’ll keep that in mind if it’s ever on…
Don’t confuse it with the not so good Sean Penn movie with the same name.
Haha! Don’t worry…
doesn’t work that way for many after the original investment.and they are so negative so they don’t have high expectations. high expectations lead to greater disappointment.
safest to be a pissymist. if things go bad you are all ready for it and if they go good it is an unprojected perk
February 26th, 20129:12 pm
If you’re not up for the Oscars… MLB Network is doing Top 10 Catchers.
enuff Sophomore Psych……..
February 26th, 20129:17 pm
Has anyone been to Yankees spring training camp? I may get a chance to go. Wondering if it’s worth it.
February 26th, 20129:18 pm
They gave McCann #7 in the majors …re: Top 10 Catchers on MLB Network. Even the hosts think he should be in the top not number 7. Haha… they’re all surprised that he’s at 7.
February 26th, 20129:19 pm
Kat MLB Network is doing Top 10 Catchers.
That could be int’resting…current or all-time?…
February 26th, 20129:20 pm
Number seven? Now I really hope they’re doing all-time…
February 26th, 20129:25 pm
Nope McFann it’s current catchers. Like I mentioned even the hosts were shocked at that ranking. They even had a image on the screen that compared his offensive numbers to the best catchers of all time. So no idea who ranked those top 10 for MLB Network…
McFann, Top 10 Catchers Right Now (not all time). I just turned it off. I thought it was fishy when Yadier Molina was #8 and then they listed McCann at #7 and I realized this list isn’t too realistic.
February 26th, 20129:37 pm
Nolie, so true about some of these over the top negative types..
Only one team can win it all, so that is going to lead to a lot of dissappointed fans, you can’t get that invested in it that it makes you miserable.
It is after all just a game. I love the game, I love the Braves, but the day after they were eliminated, the sun still rose, and life went on..
But just because I didn’t get all upset and kick the dog, doesn’t mean I am not a “true” fan..
February 26th, 20129:40 pm
That Circus Du Soleil number on the Oscars makes me excited for the show I’m seeing in Vegas in May. That was pretty cool looking.
February 26th, 20129:41 pm
what have they done to the blog in the last few weeks that changed the way the page refreshes? I used to be able to hit refresh and it updated from the latest post, now it takes me to the top of the page every time and I have to scroll back down.
Anders also asked about this yesterday, is it happening to anyone else?
February 26th, 20129:43 pm
“McFann, Top 10 Catchers Right Now (not all time). I just turned it off. I thought it was fishy when Yadier Molina was #8 and then they listed McCann at #7 and I realized this list isn’t too realistic.”
I Turned It off Too..And Started Listening to some Carrie Underwood…MLB Network was Hating on B-Macc and Suck_ing off Buster Poser!
February 26th, 20129:47 pm
Blog Monitor – not me…
February 26th, 20129:54 pm
February 26th, 20129:56 pm
Kat So no idea who ranked those top 10 for MLB Network…
Hmm……I don’t wanna name names…
Wow…they even put Molina up there? Thought he was a fave after this past season…Man, that show is messed up…
I know Posey was very good in the minors, and had a pretty nice rookie season, but I really don’t understand how they cann rank him higher than guys that have been around for a good long time. Maybe the youth movement of the 70’s is making a comeback…
February 26th, 20129:58 pm
Great article on FF by DO’B AT the previous link
February 26th, 201210:01 pm
B Mac is our catcher and thats all that matters and Ross is a good back up we have the best tandem in this decade
February 26th, 201210:02 pm
Hello everyone! The Osars are lame, and glad to turn over to watch “The Walking Dead”.
February 26th, 201210:03 pm
Oscars are really boring tonight.
February 26th, 201210:04 pm
Might have to play Edelweiss to celebrate Christopher Plummer’s win…
