As Braves pitchers and catchers open workouts, most of lineup has already arrived early
Pastor has some shoes to fill on D,but I would like to see his bat,and he comes to the field, and works hard every day, unlike Agon, and his lazy habits. 22 years old young, over 34 years old,a declining SS with no bat.I would chose the Rookie.
February 20th, 20126:44 pm
Jeffrey d-I just hope I can stay calm all year, other wise the bitchers will take a swing at me.
February 20th, 20126:45 pm
February 20th, 20126:46 pm
Why do you care what the bitchers say about you, Ward?
February 20th, 20126:47 pm
jeffrey d- I don’t ! Just don’t want to sound like them.
February 20th, 20126:49 pm
You’re more than welcome, jeffrey b.
February 20th, 20126:51 pm
Just heard interview with Ok State QB Brandon Weedon talking about the upcoming NFL draft. He was involved in the Kevin Brown trade to the Yanks. yeah the man is 28.
February 20th, 20126:54 pm
Heard yesterday that the Seahawks might make a package trade to get Peyton Manning, and Reggie Wayne?
That’s my cousin
February 20th, 20126:56 pm
What does the b stand for?
Tomahawkin (The Godfather)
February 20th, 20126:57 pm
“Billy you are right. These are the same people that flip you off in traffic when THEY make the mistake.”
February 20th, 20126:58 pm
Don’t expect anything to happen with Peyton manning before March 8th, which is when he is owed that $28 million bonus. If the Colts decline to pay it, Manning is a free agent and can go to the Hawks for nothing…
February 20th, 20126:59 pm
In the immortal words of Keith Olbermann, “Pitchers and catchers means only one thing. We made it through the off-season, baseball fans!”
February 20th, 20127:02 pm
February 20th, 20127:05 pm
cab-True on Peyton.Should be interesting, and if the Seahawks get Wayne that would be icing on the cake?
February 20th, 20127:07 pm
Soph,I thought it was buttfacey.
February 20th, 20127:11 pm
VJ-If your out there? The Giants might Draft a running back in the first round with their last pick. Might not be a bad idea?
Hawks would be better off going after Matt Flynn. Younger, healthier…
February 20th, 20127:12 pm
VJ’s at work until 7
February 20th, 20127:14 pm
Yeah, i agree, they don’t have to be here yet, but since most are it would show more team unity if all were here. But, its not a big deal as long as they are ready to go when they get here.
February 20th, 20127:15 pm
Cab- Just depends on what Seahawks are thinking?Figured VJ-will see my post.Thanks…..
February 20th, 20127:31 pm
All talk later, and be cool…….peace……”Go!!!!! Braves!!!!!.”
February 20th, 20127:47 pm
I’ve spent too long this evening looking for flights to California for the San Fran and San Diego – Braves series in August. I was thinking of going to a few games at both – driving from San Fran to San Diego on that Sunday probably.. or just seeing a whole series in one of the cities. Anyone ever been to both? Any thoughts or suggestions?
February 20th, 20127:51 pm
If you are up for a rather lengthy drive, you could do both, but I would stick to just one city.
February 20th, 20128:01 pm
If you’re cold-natured, I’d stay away from AT&T Park/Stadium/Field. I hear it’s full of giant fans.
…that one never get’s old.
February 20th, 20128:03 pm
Wouldn’t a cold-natured person enjoy giant fans?
February 20th, 20128:05 pm
I’ve always associated cold-naturedness as becoming easily chilled.
February 20th, 20128:06 pm
I thought it meant you prefered cold
February 20th, 20128:08 pm
I was thinking a drive from San Fran to San Diego would be nice… is that a wrong thought? I know it’s like 8-9hrs…of which the time doesn’t bother me, unless it turns to like 12hrs due to trafffic and that wouldn’t be good.
February 20th, 20128:10 pm
Oyy. You and I never agree on anything.
February 20th, 20128:11 pm
I’m sorry, I’m being difficult.
If you prefer cold weather, I’d stay away from the Rangers’ stadium. It gets hot in Texas.
February 20th, 20128:13 pm
Yes it does in Arlington.
February 20th, 20128:14 pm
RGeeeeeeee! (I’m in a good enough mood to give you some eee’s today).
You said it!!! Sweltering!
February 20th, 20128:15 pm
Ba dum chhhhhhhhhh
February 20th, 20128:16 pm
Soph – why are the E’s gone?
February 20th, 20128:17 pm
Makes one wonder how the rangers felt with all the giant fans during the 2010 World Series.
My eee’s or RG’s eee’s?
Mine are on vacay.
February 20th, 20128:19 pm
Thanks, Soph! You’re the thebomb.com!
I didn’t know RG had E’s. I was under the impression RG had passed on
February 20th, 20128:21 pm
RG’s eee’s got taken away because she did something bad. I can’t remember what though.
February 20th, 20128:22 pm
Left us for another blog?
If you drive down the coast (wouldn’t recommend at night) it’s stunning, but would take probably 10-12 hours. The other way down is a bit shorter (probably 7-9) and uglier…No guarantees about the traffic, especially going through LA. There is so much to do and see in both of those cities, there is no real need to hit both, unless you really, REALLY want to. And if money is not really a concern, I would fly. You can get super cheap flights between SF and SD, especially if you are going one way…check Southwest Air
February 20th, 20128:23 pm
Why do you always think I’m dead? I’m still pretty spry for my age!
February 20th, 20128:24 pm
I remember what I did, but I don’t feel the need to bring it back up since Soph’s feeling so kindly.
February 20th, 20128:26 pm
I’m pretty sure you made a horrible ‘teen ‘teen joke. It’s okay though, at least his brownies aren’t special.
February 20th, 20128:28 pm
“Horrible” as in incredibly unfunny or “horrible” as in poor taste?
February 20th, 20128:29 pm
Thanks for the tips Cab. Very much appreciated.
February 20th, 20128:31 pm
I did not. I merely said that I liked a certain former second-baseman. I made no mention of Pardo.
Ask Schaufeurre lover, I’m sure she’d be happy to tell you.
February 20th, 20128:32 pm
Oh gosh, I hope it wasn’t Lemke
February 20th, 20128:34 pm
It was like Quilvio Veras or something.
February 20th, 20128:35 pm
I prefer Medlen starting as well. If Hudson is out a month to start the season I would rather see Medlen start so Teheran and Delgado can start in the minors
February 20th, 20128:36 pm
I can’t even remember now. Dan Uggla’s prowess has made me forget all previous second-basemen…
February 20th, 20128:38 pm
brian I guess you are assuming Minor gets the other spot, and probably so because he is a lefty. Still would like to see Delgado in the 5th spot. Medlen starting just makes more sense.
February 20th, 20128:41 pm
February 20th, 20128:43 pm
That tall, bald guy with the rounded jaw?
February 20th, 20128:47 pm
No that was Smoltz
February 20th, 20128:52 pm
They all look alike.
February 20th, 20128:53 pm
February 20th, 20128:57 pm
More like Butthist.
Ok, now we’re moving into poor taste. Ha.
February 20th, 20128:58 pm
You like Smoltz’s butt?
February 20th, 20129:00 pm
I can’t say Smoltz’s particularly stands out.
February 20th, 20129:07 pm
How did butts get involved?
February 20th, 20129:09 pm
Tampa Gator is about right looking forward to this season. We could finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th with 81 to 84 wins in a very close and very good division.
February 20th, 20129:21 pm
Guess I killed the blog again. When y’all see me you stop posting so dispite loveing CHIPPER I think I will be rooting for the REDS this year PETER GAMMONS say they will be the brackout team in NL this year and they have TODD FRAZIER from my hometown on thier roster. FOX SPORTSSOUTH televises most of REDS games into Western NC,
February 20th, 20129:24 pm
I prefer Medlen as a reliever
February 20th, 20129:25 pm
Smoltz has a bubble butt. Avery had one too. Not that I was trying to look. TV camera spents hundreds of hours pointing to their rears through all those years.
February 20th, 20129:27 pm
Especially in the tight pants they wore in those 90’s. Really made it stand out.
February 20th, 20129:28 pm
I sure hope TOMMY is ok cause without him and HUDSON pitching staff does not look nealy as strong.
February 20th, 20129:29 pm
Well I’m Out, Gonna Watch Major League, Back to the Minors on Youtube…One of About 12-15 Movies I ever saw when It debuted in a Movie Theater…
February 20th, 20129:30 pm
February 20th, 20129:31 pm
Outta here, take Peanut for walk then LOST GIRL , have a good one y’all.
February 20th, 20129:32 pm
“Smoltz has a bubble butt. Avery had one too. Not that I was trying to look.”
lol, my man, don’t lie?
Just messin with ya dude…
February 20th, 20129:33 pm
February 20th, 20129:34 pm
Sure hope the REDS have a blog as good as this one.
February 20th, 20129:36 pm
You defecting, George?
February 20th, 20129:38 pm
I prefer Medlen as a reliever too……..He would be a great set up man in the middle, and late innings.
February 20th, 20129:41 pm
I was looking at Martinez career ERA,and he has an ERA 4.08,so not much difference except that Fish has no MLB experience, and I think Fish could beat Martinez since Martinez is on the bubble.
February 20th, 20129:45 pm
Just Pat: My hubby and I came up for dinner on Valentines. Was hoping to talk a little baseball with you. We HAVE to get together sometime this season!
February 20th, 20129:46 pm
jeffrey – I know you want Medlen as a reliever, but while Hudson is out, would you want Medlen to start the year as a starter then let him go to the bullpen when Hudson is back?
That is what I want to see happen this year. Medlen will be great as a reliever this year but he is underestimated as a starter. He was our best starter when he went down 2 years ago
February 20th, 20129:51 pm
martinez has an ERA ofv 4.02 in the bigs, Fish in the minors, not comparable at all and he had a very good year last season with a WHIP under 1.0.. he might not do that again but you have to give him a chance since he is out of options. Fish has big league suckage written all over him
February 20th, 20129:52 pm
I think Fish could beat Martinez since Martinez is on the bubble.
Rather unfortunate use of the word ‘bubble’ considering its earlier use this evening.
February 20th, 20129:54 pm
brian – honestly, it doesn’t seem like there’s a wrong answer with this. If Medlen doesn’t replace Hudson then either Teheran, Vizcaino, or Delgado does. Medlen’s dependable, and the young studs have a lot of potential and need experience. Regardless, when it’s Hanson, Jurrjens, and Beachy at the top, I think the rotation is just fine.
February 20th, 20129:56 pm
nolie & ward – Medlen will be a reliever once Huddy returns. Just don’t like the performances of Minor or Teheran to date. Would like all four to be on equal footing going into ST and may the best two win the starting jobs. Bullpen will be fine the first month or two without Medlen.
nolie-Fish hasn’t pitched in the big leagues, and minor league stats can be meaningless with a fastball type pitcher.Just not sold on Martinez, after some of his late inning choke habits, inclueding tie ball games, but we will see.
February 20th, 20129:59 pm
Good thing is Braves are deep in pitching, and that’s better than looking for pitchers.
on the bubble? from a production standpoint Martinez is nowhere near on the bubble
February 20th, 201210:01 pm
yeah ward there is a reason he hasn’t pitched in the majors, cause he stinks. and I don’t know where you came up with the idea that his fastball is any better than most any of the guys in the pen, most all of them throw pretty hard
nolie – you said earlier you preferred Medlen as a reliever. Just wondering why?
February 20th, 201210:02 pm
yeah ward there is a reason he hasn’t pitched in the majors, cause he stinks
So he smells like fish?
February 20th, 201210:06 pm
I just don’t think he has the projection as a successful long term starter, either size-wize or stuff-ability, compared to as a reliever. and yes I know he went 13-1 or some such at one point, but I think his skills help more in the pen considering the other talent we have available.
February 20th, 201210:10 pm
Trading Hanson now while he isn’t shown yet to be ruined from the concussion is the way to go. Hanson for Kemp str8 up. He is finished for good.
February 20th, 201210:11 pm
trade Medlen for someone bigger.
February 20th, 201210:12 pm
February 20th, 201210:17 pm
I think the Braves plan is to start Medlen in the pen,and build up arm strength, and try him later,as a starter, but I feel,at most Medlen should be used as long middle relief.
February 20th, 201210:19 pm
February 20th, 201210:20 pm
sometimes a concussion can cause amnesia, let’s hope he hasn’t forgotten about his new mechanics……
February 20th, 201210:22 pm
Just seems like you’re using a knee-jerk overreaction and unsound logic to get people in a frenzy. That’s what trolls do
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
