Pastor has some shoes to fill on D,but I would like to see his bat,and he comes to the field, and works hard every day, unlike Agon, and his lazy habits. 22 years old young, over 34 years old,a declining SS with no bat.I would chose the Rookie.
Just heard interview with Ok State QB Brandon Weedon talking about the upcoming NFL draft. He was involved in the Kevin Brown trade to the Yanks. yeah the man is 28.
Don’t expect anything to happen with Peyton manning before March 8th, which is when he is owed that $28 million bonus. If the Colts decline to pay it, Manning is a free agent and can go to the Hawks for nothing…
Yeah, i agree, they don’t have to be here yet, but since most are it would show more team unity if all were here. But, its not a big deal as long as they are ready to go when they get here.
I’ve spent too long this evening looking for flights to California for the San Fran and San Diego – Braves series in August. I was thinking of going to a few games at both – driving from San Fran to San Diego on that Sunday probably.. or just seeing a whole series in one of the cities. Anyone ever been to both? Any thoughts or suggestions?
cab-
I was thinking a drive from San Fran to San Diego would be nice… is that a wrong thought? I know it’s like 8-9hrs…of which the time doesn’t bother me, unless it turns to like 12hrs due to trafffic and that wouldn’t be good.
If you drive down the coast (wouldn’t recommend at night) it’s stunning, but would take probably 10-12 hours. The other way down is a bit shorter (probably 7-9) and uglier…No guarantees about the traffic, especially going through LA. There is so much to do and see in both of those cities, there is no real need to hit both, unless you really, REALLY want to. And if money is not really a concern, I would fly. You can get super cheap flights between SF and SD, especially if you are going one way…check Southwest Air
I prefer Medlen starting as well. If Hudson is out a month to start the season I would rather see Medlen start so Teheran and Delgado can start in the minors
brian I guess you are assuming Minor gets the other spot, and probably so because he is a lefty. Still would like to see Delgado in the 5th spot. Medlen starting just makes more sense.
Tampa Gator is about right looking forward to this season. We could finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th with 81 to 84 wins in a very close and very good division.

Smoltz has a bubble butt. Avery had one too. Not that I was trying to look. TV camera spents hundreds of hours pointing to their rears through all those years.
I was looking at Martinez career ERA,and he has an ERA 4.08,so not much difference except that Fish has no MLB experience, and I think Fish could beat Martinez since Martinez is on the bubble.
Just Pat: My hubby and I came up for dinner on Valentines. Was hoping to talk a little baseball with you. We HAVE to get together sometime this season!
jeffrey – I know you want Medlen as a reliever, but while Hudson is out, would you want Medlen to start the year as a starter then let him go to the bullpen when Hudson is back?
That is what I want to see happen this year. Medlen will be great as a reliever this year but he is underestimated as a starter. He was our best starter when he went down 2 years ago
martinez has an ERA ofv 4.02 in the bigs, Fish in the minors, not comparable at all and he had a very good year last season with a WHIP under 1.0.. he might not do that again but you have to give him a chance since he is out of options. Fish has big league suckage written all over him
brian – honestly, it doesn’t seem like there’s a wrong answer with this. If Medlen doesn’t replace Hudson then either Teheran, Vizcaino, or Delgado does. Medlen’s dependable, and the young studs have a lot of potential and need experience. Regardless, when it’s Hanson, Jurrjens, and Beachy at the top, I think the rotation is just fine.
nolie & ward – Medlen will be a reliever once Huddy returns. Just don’t like the performances of Minor or Teheran to date. Would like all four to be on equal footing going into ST and may the best two win the starting jobs. Bullpen will be fine the first month or two without Medlen.
nolie-Fish hasn’t pitched in the big leagues, and minor league stats can be meaningless with a fastball type pitcher.Just not sold on Martinez, after some of his late inning choke habits, inclueding tie ball games, but we will see.
yeah ward there is a reason he hasn’t pitched in the majors, cause he stinks. and I don’t know where you came up with the idea that his fastball is any better than most any of the guys in the pen, most all of them throw pretty hard
I just don’t think he has the projection as a successful long term starter, either size-wize or stuff-ability, compared to as a reliever. and yes I know he went 13-1 or some such at one point, but I think his skills help more in the pen considering the other talent we have available.
I think the Braves plan is to start Medlen in the pen,and build up arm strength, and try him later,as a starter, but I feel,at most Medlen should be used as long middle relief.
