Is anybody watching MLB Network and the 50 Greatest Finishes in MLB History countdown?

I mean, for God’s sake. There just showed literally three out of four clips in a row that involved the Braves.

How can you make the playoffs fifteen times in twenty years and have so many teams, mostly inferior, not only beat you but beat you in ways that are constantly being relived and replayed along with the greatest moments in post-season history?

I don’t have enough fingers to count the number of times the Braves are featured.

Literally.

They apparently didn’t have room for Ed Sprague, Candy Maldonado, Dave Winfield, Scott Leius, Lenny Dykstra, Aubrey Huff, Buster Posey, etc.

The list goes on.

Not to mention Jim Leyritz. But then again that wasn’t technically a “finish”.

Or was it?

It’s amazing to think in all the post-season games the Braves have played, they have just one walk-off game winning home run at home.

All this “hope” and “optimism” is great for the 2012 edition of our beloved Braves.

Lost in this good news is the fact the Liberty CHEAPIA still owns the team.

Their answer to boosting attendance is by lowering the price of Turner Dogs. The REAL way to increase attendance is by putting a WINNING product on the field, NOT by lowering the cost of food and drink.

With Liberty CHEAPIA at the helm, we are reduced to NO offseason upgrades and having “AFFORDABLE” players (I told you the letter sent to Braves season-ticket holders was a BLATANT LIE after the Brave’s playoff collaspe).

Frank Wren (firefrankwren.com) continues to say Teheran, Delgado, and Vizcaino are untouchable. That’s great; however, the TRUTH is he KNOWS there is NO WAY he can sign Tommy Hanson and Jair to contracts when they hit free agency. Same old Brave’s way of letting players walk for NOTHING (Michael Bourn will be our next example). Maybe they can put “afforable” Matt Diaz in CF next year.

Other teams have offered the Braves good MLB starting OFs (not bums like Diaz) for each of those three young prospect pitchers. Instead of improving the team, Wren and Liberty CHEAPIA are simply keeping them because the Braves NEVER enter the star Free-Agent marker.

Speaking of our STARTING LF Matt Diaz (you think I’m kidding…. it’s true), it’s great we have a total no-talent BUM like Matty starting in our OF. Diaz could NOT make any other MLB roster. Diaz is “affordable” though, the KEY for Liberty CHEAPIA.

Matt Diaz is the guy who (and I QUOTE the AJC) “managed to key her sense of humor despite the Brave’s playoff COLLASPE.” Real funny stuff Matt (”he rakes Lefthanders you know”). This is guy who has NO VALUE ADD to this team… but to Wren he is “AFFORDABLE.” Doesn’t matter if he hits in double plays consistently and is a CLANK with the glove. Sorry state of affairs when your team is SOOO CHEAP instead of upgrading the team they lower the price of hot dogs.

With all “the hope springs eternal” and optism entering 2012, the FACT is Wren and Liberty CHEAPIA did NOTHING to upgrade the team like the lying “letter to the fans” promised.

Wren is banking on the fact that his current players had “off years” last year. The FACT is Mr. Wren that Matt DIAZ is a TOTAL no-talent BUM. Yes Frank, he is “AFFORDABLE.”

Until the out-of-state, faceless, gutless, CHEAP Liberty Media owners sell the team to someone who WANTS to win, our beloved Braves are doomed to mediocre EVERY year. Liberty CHEAPIA won’t be happy until they turn our storied franchise into the Houston Astros EAST. Sure, when our Braves hit rock bottom (it will eventually happen with our current ownership group), that’s when they’ll sell the team to maximize their profits. Thanks Liberty CHEAPIA.

Enjoy the 33% off Turner Dogs.

I know the consensus is that Constanza or Durango will get the 5th bench spot, but I tend to think that Drew Sutton will be the favorite for that spot. He switch hits, plays 1st, 2nd, SS, 3rd, RF, & LF. I just think he brings a lot to the table as a bench player and provides a lot of options. Plus in over 600 abs his career On base percentage in AAA is .380. Heyward can play center in a pinch and if Bourne gets injured (god forbid) a roster move can be made.

Here’s the quote from the article (complete with typo … street = stress.

Jurrjens is especially excited for a fresh start. He went just 1-3 after being selected for his first All-Star Game and was mentioned prominently in trade talks over the winter. But he’s still in Atlanta, eager to get in full season now that doctors have discovered the underlying cause of his lingering knee problems – a shorter-than-normal joint in his right big toe, which caused his ankle to turn outward and put more street on the knee.

After being fitted with orthotics, the pain was gone in a couple of weeks.

“I feel like I’m a brand new kid,” said Jurrjens, who just turned 26 this past weekend. “I’m happy I’m here and I’ll be trying to help the team as much as I can.”

You could prolly start a whole philosophy centered on the effective application of foot-wear.

I mean, if phrenologists study how the bumps on your head predict your future and astrologists study how the alignment of the stars predicts your future, it’s not that unreasonable to assume that how your knees turn in or turn out predicts your future.

Jurrjens was fitted for the knee brace in the final weeks of last season, and pitched with it the day after the season ended when he started game in Florida instructional league. He would’ve started Game 3 of division series, wearing the brace.

He was fitted for orthotics — corrective inserts for his shoes — during the offseason, first time that problem was diagnosed with the toe.

According to Wren, Jurrjens will likely begin the season wearing the Knee brace when he pitches. It’s not as big and bulky as a linemen’s brace, and doesn’t hinder him. So unless the knee’s really feeling 100 percent without it, I’d imagine he’ll wear it at least early in the season.
