February 16th, 201211:00 pm
lol well I’ve been on FB and twitter
Is anybody watching MLB Network and the 50 Greatest Finishes in MLB History countdown?
I mean, for God’s sake. There just showed literally three out of four clips in a row that involved the Braves.
How can you make the playoffs fifteen times in twenty years and have so many teams, mostly inferior, not only beat you but beat you in ways that are constantly being relived and replayed along with the greatest moments in post-season history?
I don’t have enough fingers to count the number of times the Braves are featured.
February 16th, 201211:01 pm
February 16th, 201211:02 pm
you don’t have 3 fingers?
you type pretty well for only 3 fingers…
If You Seek Amy…I honestly have no idea why, other than I think it’s DOB’s fault…
February 16th, 201211:04 pm
Looks like my post about Belladonna, arsenic, and hemlock well and truly killed the previous blog.
Coach (2012 Fredi's beisbol fandango)
February 16th, 201211:05 pm
mlbtraderumors.com has both Cristhian Martinez and Jairo Asencio listed as being out of options.
Asencio looks likely to make the bullpen, while Martinez is on the bubble.
I hear Amy has left the building.
February 16th, 201211:08 pm
You know the song? the lyrics are deliciously awesome
February 16th, 201211:09 pm

cabravesfan, February 16th, 2012, 11:08 pm … You know the song? the lyrics are deliciously awesome1
I’ve prolly heard it once or twice. Brit isn’t really my cup of tea.
February 16th, 201211:14 pm
dunno if i know that one
generally not mine either, but those particular lyrics always make me giggle (also, the fact that she had to change said lyrics in a lot of places to If You See Amy…)
February 16th, 201211:15 pm
say the name out loud and you will understand why it’s secretly awesome
Must they show last week’s debacle everytime I watch a basketball game?
February 16th, 201211:16 pm
Say each word slow too.
They apparently didn’t have room for Ed Sprague, Candy Maldonado, Dave Winfield, Scott Leius, Lenny Dykstra, Aubrey Huff, Buster Posey, etc.
The list goes on.
Not to mention Jim Leyritz. But then again that wasn’t technically a “finish”.
Or was it?
It’s amazing to think in all the post-season games the Braves have played, they have just one walk-off game winning home run at home.
That’s it, I’m done. It’s too much.
February 16th, 201211:19 pm
cabravesfan, February 16th, 2012, 11:14 pm … ” that she had to change said lyrics in a lot of places to If You See Amy…)”
Kind of like when they dub movies for television and the evil crime genius shouts at the hero, “Forget You!”
And then listen to the song, because the verses have NOTHING to do with the chorus…
Something like that
I get it…are we 12 again?
February 16th, 201211:20 pm
Geebus, this has been the longest half of basketball I’ve ever seen.
again? What makes you think we ever STOPPED being secretly 12?
February 16th, 201211:22 pm
My twelve year old moment comes from Animal House. At the trial for Delta House when the Delts explosively cough expletives. Never gets old.
February 16th, 201211:27 pm
F stands for “For” a preposition at the fore. U’s for “Unlawful” mark an A on her door.
C stands for “Carnal” passion steals away good sense, K stands for “Knowledge” to mock your pretense.
February 16th, 201211:31 pm
Nothing baseball related to say really – am excited, ready for season to start and hoping Braves surprise and delight.
Tis Friday – weekend upon me, and am ready to enjoy a couple of work-less sunny days!. Hopefully I will log in over the weekend and see that the Braves have added an established contact hitting left-fielder.
February 16th, 201211:34 pm
How many days til pitchers and catchers report? Next Monday?
February 16th, 201211:38 pm
Technically they report on Sunday- first workout is Monday

What do they want from me?
What do they want from me?
What do they want from a poor boy who can’t believe?
They want to fill the void.
They want to fill the empty spaces.
But I won’t let them consume me with the rest of the lifeless faces.”
February 16th, 201211:52 pm
So I guess we’ll start to get an idea about Huddy’s progress, Hanson’s delivery, JJ’s orthotic, and how many burgers BMac scarfed come Monday.
February 16th, 201211:54 pm
I am so ready for the games to begin.
Mac’s been busting his behind all off season with his trainer. He’ll be just fine
February 16th, 201211:55 pm
And if I remember correct, JJ’s got a new knee brace, not an orthotic
February 16th, 201211:56 pm
All this “hope” and “optimism” is great for the 2012 edition of our beloved Braves.
Lost in this good news is the fact the Liberty CHEAPIA still owns the team.
Their answer to boosting attendance is by lowering the price of Turner Dogs. The REAL way to increase attendance is by putting a WINNING product on the field, NOT by lowering the cost of food and drink.
With Liberty CHEAPIA at the helm, we are reduced to NO offseason upgrades and having “AFFORDABLE” players (I told you the letter sent to Braves season-ticket holders was a BLATANT LIE after the Brave’s playoff collaspe).
Frank Wren (firefrankwren.com) continues to say Teheran, Delgado, and Vizcaino are untouchable. That’s great; however, the TRUTH is he KNOWS there is NO WAY he can sign Tommy Hanson and Jair to contracts when they hit free agency. Same old Brave’s way of letting players walk for NOTHING (Michael Bourn will be our next example). Maybe they can put “afforable” Matt Diaz in CF next year.
Other teams have offered the Braves good MLB starting OFs (not bums like Diaz) for each of those three young prospect pitchers. Instead of improving the team, Wren and Liberty CHEAPIA are simply keeping them because the Braves NEVER enter the star Free-Agent marker.
Speaking of our STARTING LF Matt Diaz (you think I’m kidding…. it’s true), it’s great we have a total no-talent BUM like Matty starting in our OF. Diaz could NOT make any other MLB roster. Diaz is “affordable” though, the KEY for Liberty CHEAPIA.
Matt Diaz is the guy who (and I QUOTE the AJC) “managed to key her sense of humor despite the Brave’s playoff COLLASPE.” Real funny stuff Matt (”he rakes Lefthanders you know”). This is guy who has NO VALUE ADD to this team… but to Wren he is “AFFORDABLE.” Doesn’t matter if he hits in double plays consistently and is a CLANK with the glove. Sorry state of affairs when your team is SOOO CHEAP instead of upgrading the team they lower the price of hot dogs.
With all “the hope springs eternal” and optism entering 2012, the FACT is Wren and Liberty CHEAPIA did NOTHING to upgrade the team like the lying “letter to the fans” promised.
Wren is banking on the fact that his current players had “off years” last year. The FACT is Mr. Wren that Matt DIAZ is a TOTAL no-talent BUM. Yes Frank, he is “AFFORDABLE.”
Until the out-of-state, faceless, gutless, CHEAP Liberty Media owners sell the team to someone who WANTS to win, our beloved Braves are doomed to mediocre EVERY year. Liberty CHEAPIA won’t be happy until they turn our storied franchise into the Houston Astros EAST. Sure, when our Braves hit rock bottom (it will eventually happen with our current ownership group), that’s when they’ll sell the team to maximize their profits. Thanks Liberty CHEAPIA.
Enjoy the 33% off Turner Dogs.
February 16th, 201211:57 pm
We all know McCann is fleet of foot. He’s got two triples after all.
February 16th, 2012
how bout that wolfpack . up by 16 against the dookies at half time
Sorry – I copied that on the last blog, but I see you recognized how it turned out – pretend I did not notice…
February 16th, 201211:58 pm
Actually, Matt Diaz is NOT our starting left fielder. Some guy named Prado is.
And he led the team in stolen bases through April last year.
February 16th, 201211:59 pm
I know the consensus is that Constanza or Durango will get the 5th bench spot, but I tend to think that Drew Sutton will be the favorite for that spot. He switch hits, plays 1st, 2nd, SS, 3rd, RF, & LF. I just think he brings a lot to the table as a bench player and provides a lot of options. Plus in over 600 abs his career On base percentage in AAA is .380. Heyward can play center in a pinch and if Bourne gets injured (god forbid) a roster move can be made.
Very honored that Philly Fred, a blogger of immeasurable scruples and moral integrity, saw fit to recognize me as someone who realizes that he is truly someone worthy of defending the marvelous team from the City of Brotherly Love…

cabravesfan, February 16th, 2012, 11:55 pm … “And if I remember correct, JJ’s got a new knee brace, not an orthotic”
He had a knee brace at the end of last year. However, they discovered a problem with his big toe. So, the “orthotic” could be a knee brace or a shoe. Haven’t heard which one yet.
February 17th, 201212:02 am
Matt Diaz is the guy who (and I QUOTE the AJC) “managed to key her sense of humor despite the Brave’s playoff COLLASPE.”
I would like to see where the AJC referred to Matt as “her” and misspelled collapse and Brave’s…
Maybe it’s a “me” thing- I don’t consider a knee brace an orthotic. I use them in my shoes, so that is the only thing that is a real “orthotic” to me…
February 17th, 201212:06 am
Here’s the quote from the article (complete with typo … street = stress.
Jurrjens is especially excited for a fresh start. He went just 1-3 after being selected for his first All-Star Game and was mentioned prominently in trade talks over the winter. But he’s still in Atlanta, eager to get in full season now that doctors have discovered the underlying cause of his lingering knee problems – a shorter-than-normal joint in his right big toe, which caused his ankle to turn outward and put more street on the knee.
After being fitted with orthotics, the pain was gone in a couple of weeks.
“I feel like I’m a brand new kid,” said Jurrjens, who just turned 26 this past weekend. “I’m happy I’m here and I’ll be trying to help the team as much as I can.”
how about the best college basketball coach K leading that charge and win. really.
down 20 in the second half.
February 17th, 201212:08 am
uga – “It’s a really special win, a special win. It’s tough to say anything else.” – Coach K on tonight’s win over NC State
that is definitely shoe inserts. I have a similar problem (not the big toe, but a misaligned ankle that causes knee pain in the opposite leg- along with a misaligned patellar tendon on the same bad knee) they are a tremendous help
cab … I’m with you on orthotics meaning a shoe fitting. However, I looked it up just to be sure and discovered it could mean any orthopedic support, including a back brace or a knee brace. But, here, I’m pretty sure the author meant shoe-fitting.
February 17th, 201212:09 am
“I would like to see where the AJC referred to Matt as “her” and misspelled collapse and Brave’s…”
February 17th, 201212:11 am
cab … flat feet for me. It’s amazing how much impact shoes can have on your entire well-being.
Then again, those feet have to carry the whole load, so a little misalignment in the feet can have a multiplying effect up the line.
February 17th, 201212:12 am
I thought I read that they gave him a knee brace, which is also onea them orthodoodaddies
February 17th, 201212:13 am
You could prolly start a whole philosophy centered on the effective application of foot-wear.
I mean, if phrenologists study how the bumps on your head predict your future and astrologists study how the alignment of the stars predicts your future, it’s not that unreasonable to assume that how your knees turn in or turn out predicts your future.
February 17th, 201212:14 am
No kidding- everything from knee to hip to back and neck problems, all because you you have bad feet. orthotics can be such a huge relief…I need to wear mine more- I rarely wear my tennis shoes
February 17th, 201212:15 am
They should just give JJ a full-on exoskeleton, like Ripley had in Aliens.
how your knees turn in or turn out predicts your future….ABW
knock-kneed gals have fewer babies?
February 17th, 201212:16 am
vj, i heard you missed the carolina comeback. please tell me you watched this.
Jurrjens was fitted for the knee brace in the final weeks of last season, and pitched with it the day after the season ended when he started game in Florida instructional league. He would’ve started Game 3 of division series, wearing the brace.
He was fitted for orthotics — corrective inserts for his shoes — during the offseason, first time that problem was diagnosed with the toe.
According to Wren, Jurrjens will likely begin the season wearing the Knee brace when he pitches. It’s not as big and bulky as a linemen’s brace, and doesn’t hinder him. So unless the knee’s really feeling 100 percent without it, I’d imagine he’ll wear it at least early in the season.
February 17th, 201212:17 am
Game was not on TV out here. Caught the end on the computer
That’s quite a quote.
I really set that one up on a tee for you, didn’t I?
February 17th, 201212:20 am
uga – I had been “watching” the updates of the game on my phone while tutoring (for quite a while it did not require great attention), but got home to watch the last couple of minutes on ESPN3…
cabravesfan, February 17th, 2012, 12:14 am … “I need to wear mine more- I rarely wear my tennis shoes”
I thought you only needed your fuzzy bunny slippers to make your strenuous morning commute.
February 17th, 201212:22 am
I do. Which is why my knee still hurts when I wear real shoes (that my orthotics don’t fit in). I only wear my tennis shoes with them to work out…
NO MORE WREN
February 17th, 201212:23 am
Jurrjens might be softer than Chipper.
And I don’t have bunny slippers. I do have an awesome pair of giant fuzzy red slippers that I can no longer wear in the presence of Nala because she sees them as a threat to us and attacks them.
Younger Than That Now
February 17th, 201212:25 am
Thanks for the blog DOB! Like most, I’m really hoping that FrediG has learned a lot about handling a bullpen, and especially the big 3! I think they are the best 7-8-9 inning trio in baseball and I hope they’re protected as such this season.
I’m ready to go and will be down to DS somewhere around the middle of March… just about a 4 hour drive for me.
Really sad for the family of Gary Carter… he was a true gentleman in every way and faced this battle like he faced every ‘on the field battle’… with courage and class. RIP Kid!
February 17th, 201212:29 am
cab, you and me have this in common. no mushrooms on pizza. evil fungus.
ABBAZ: … What you doin’ here, boy?
CHANCE: … I had to leave my garden. I want to find another.
ABBAZ: Bulls–t. Who sent you here, boy? Did that chickens–t a–hole Rafael send you here, boy?
CHANCE: No. Thomas Franklin told me that I had to leave the Old Man’s house, he’s dead now, you know…
ABBAZ: Dead, my a–! Now get this, honkie – you go tell Rafael that I ain’t takin’ no jive from no Western Union messenger! You tell that a–hole, if he got somethin’ to tell me to get his a– here himself! You got that, boy?
CHANCE: Yes. I understand. If I see Rafael I will tell him.
