Anyone notice the “8″ in 1876 on the patch? The 8 looks like a 6. The picture I am referring to is in the AJC photo gallery with a close up. Hope it is just a pre-production goof. If it is by design because of the font, bad choice.

Now that I look at it longer, it probably is just someone got lazy with the stiching and didn’t complete the top loop on the 8. Still you pay 90-100 for a jersey you should expect quality.

Anyone remember the baby blue road uniforms of the ’80’s? Maybe time for a throwback game in the old ones again. Then again, they sucked in the ’80’s and lost a boatload of games, so – maybe not.

I go back when the Braves were in Boston and they had the Braves Tomahawk on the front. That is the famous Braves logo….with the Tomahawk on the front…sorry…

Did I ever get sick to my tummy watching that redneck thug fan-basher Chipper Jones emerge from the smoke donning the new Braves uni.
Reminded me of his ole in ‘99 against the Rockies, of all the non-championships we have with this, our fearless leader.
Time to move on and get a new face to this franchise.

DOB, your bitter and acerbic comments towards fans on this blog reveal that you are heading down the Skip Caray road of alienating your readership (or in his case, listenership, as he constantly bashed the callers on the WSB-AM call-in show). Skip’s bitterness in his years on that call-in show totally ruined an otherwise good career, and I think of him poorly because of it.

Fangraphs recently placed teams into groups based on how analytical they tend to be. Not surprisingly, the Braves are near the bottom. A commenter noted that the not only are the Braves behind the curve relative to other teams on statistical research in baseball, they’ve also failed often in recent drafts as they’ve religiously adhered to slot, preferring cheap players rather than the best talent. The commenter asked what the Braves do well anymore. Well obviously they are near the top in designing uniforms (have you see the Marlins new unis?) and setting hot dog prices. Yep, they should be fitted for WS rings any day now.

I love the new unis precisely because the tomahawk is missing. This is probably wishful thinking, but I hope this is a first step in getting rid of the tomahawk (and therefore the stupid tomahawk chop and chant) permanently. It got old about, oh, seventeen years ago.

Bobo’s Frodo is a Todo, you’re a clown, I don’t always agree with DOB, but the guy is loyal to his team, I may not support everything the Braves FO or other personnel do, or even like all of them, but I always pull for the Braves to win and watch most of the games. I recognize rare greatness in a player like Chipper and am truly thankful for getting to watch him all these years. I have not always like everything he’s done on and off the field, just the same as I probably wouldn’t like things that some of his critics have done in their lives if THEIR lives had been blasted all over the media on a regular basis. Last time I checked, we’re none of us perfect…DOB, keep defending what SHOULD be defended and the bulk of the fanbase will respect you and you know that, Skip Caray remembered as bitter? NOT ON YOUR LIFE!

Uniforms??? Couldn’t care less. Lost interest in the Braves and all professional baseball back during the strikes. Haven’t bought a ticket to a game since – don’t plan to. I date back to the Atlanta Crackers and LOVED baseball at the old Ponce – they ruined it for me. So did pro-football – don’t care anymore. Last game I saw in person OJ Simpson was in the backfield for the 49′rs. I wouldn’t go now if you bought my ticket, hot dog, beer and paid parking….just the way it is.

The cardinal’s made the best winter move by not signing their ageing star to a disgusting amount of money.The braves need to start stocking their team with five million dollar players and stop bringing up players from the minor’s before they develop.

Major league baseball has the sloppiest uniform policy in sports Put the word “uniform” back in uniforms: players should wear uniforms that fit, all pants length should be mid-calf, stirrup socks with white socks showing underneath, everyone the same. For the Braves, white uniforms at home, creme uniforms on the road, get rid of the softball look blue and red jerseys.

Dave, when you say that the Braves would only profit enough on a jersey purchase to buy a ballpoint pen, it makes me think of the smell from my cow pastures. The ONLY reason they come out with so many jersey changes is to increase the sales of jerseys to fans. The Braves are not alone in doing this, all pro and most college teams do the same thing but why try to cover for them. This is NOT about making any sort of fashion statement. They are going to do anything they can to wring every possible cent out of fans. And, of course, it is every fan’s right to say yes or no depending on their wishes or financial situation.

No doubt about that. Revenues are big part of it, though no team would ever say as much. I was only referring to the relative pittance that one jersey brings to a team, when the commenter said something along the lines of, “If I buy a jersey would you please apply the money to getting players?”
Teams get the difference between the wholesale cost and retail cost for a jersey sold in their own team store or ballpark. For all other jerseys (or any other gear) sold at various retail outlets (sporting goods stores, department stores, etc.) the team splits the profit evenly with 29 other teams. In other words, the team gets 1/30th of the profit for a jersey sold at Athlete’s Foot in the mall.

We were going to ignore the new uniforms and just let people be surprised when they saw the Braves wearing them, but since there was no other news to report about any recent personnel moves and such, we thought some folks might want to actually know why the team’s not wearing red on Sunday and why they’re wearing a uniform that looks a whole lot like the one they were 35 years ago. But then, Fed Up Fans probably don’t care, right? Better just to not write anything for you?

Is that a lengthy story? What details do you put in it? That Braves have middle-of-the-pack payroll supported by middle-of-the-pack attendance, and that they should spend like they have top-5 attendance and top-5 TV revenues even if they don’t, because that’s how Ted did it? Or do you focus on fact that the owner doesn’t sit in front row with a Braves cap on and cheer for the home team?

I feel your pain fed up fan, but we are stuck with this ownership for a while at least. And buried with that TV deal for 20 mo yrs.
Payroll is never going up. Unless by surprise we draw 3.2 million again–dreamful thinking. Even at that the team establishment might have some superstition about 90 or so mil–never know.
Hate to see where we will be in 2020.

I like them. I dont see what the big deal is with creating more styles. Whether or not it’s for a silly attempt to bring in more money it is still fun. Especially for kids. I love baseball with all my heart and soul. And I absolutely love my Braves. I dont care if they have 500 alternate uniforms with half of them being hot pink. I will wear them with pride if it helps us win. I’ll wear them proudly even if we lose every game the entire season. I love Braves baseball!!! Let’s go Bravos!

uniform with the tomahawk is good look, atlanta with tomahawk for the road
is a good look, make the uniforms cooler for the players, all the other stuff

I hate rules, but MLB must force players to wear their jerseys appropriately, with stirrups showing.
As it is, most players look as if they are wearing pajamas. Watching the Cubs-Bravest tonite, at least Soriano on the Cubs wears his uniform properly.
