Tickets available for first Braves vs. Prospects game

Braves and Gwinnett Braves season-ticket holders will get first dibs on tickets to the first Braves vs. prospects game April 3 at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville.

Officially called the Braves All-Stars vs. Futures Stars, the game will pit the current Braves against top prospects in the Braves organization. The 7:05 p.m. game at Gwinnett replaces what has been a traditional pair of exhibition games Atlanta has played against an American League team at Turner Field between the end of the spring-training schedule in Florida and the regular-season opener.

The Braves aren’t played those games against an AL opponent this season.

Braves and G-Braves full-season ticket holders can purchase tickets beginning Wednesday at noon at a $5 discount off regular prices ($10-$45). Those with partial season ticket plans can purchase tickets beginning Feb. 6 at 10 a.m., also at a $5 discount.

Beginning Feb. 18, fans without season-ticket plans can purchase two-game packages that include tickets to the April 3 exhibition game along with either the G-Braves’ opener or an Atlanta Braves game to be determined. The package may only be purchased by phone, fax or in-person at Coolray Field.

Any remaining seats for the April 3 exhibition game will go on sale to the general public beginning March 10.

For more information about the April 3 exhibition game, contact the Gwinnett Braves at 678-277-0300 or visit www.gwinnettbraves.com. Gwinnett Braves season tickets are available at gwinnettbraves.com/2012, the Coolray Field box office, or by calling (678) 277-0340.

Holy cow! The moons and stars aligned and I joined the ranks of the social degenerates who eagerly won this “envious” prize valued by all and jeered by all others when achieved!

Bring on the boo’s — so deserved! LOL!!

Please review the following:

“The Braves aren’t played those games against an AL opponent this season.”

I give it a Check Minus

I always thought playing another pre-season game against an AL opponent was a needless export of one Grapefruit League game north to the Ted. I’d be curious to know what the attendance was for those games also.

I bet most were within what would attend a Grapefruit or AAA game.

Won’t be attending this game, I always looked forward to the inter league games at the end of spring training. The only reason they’re doing this is b/c Coolray Field is hurting so badly for money and they’ll do anything they can to make a buck up there. Thanks a lot guys.

This is a much better idea than the exhibition game. Those were pitiful to watch and attendance was never that great. This should be a cool experience for the prospects, and it doesn’t hurt that it’s helping Coolray Field as well.

Innocent Bystander: I can’t believe this won’t also be an exhibition. Yes, the prospects could be interesting to watch. But the REAL Braves won’t be busting it!!

I wouldn’t pay to go watch the Sept. chokers but maybe, and that is a slight maybe, to see the prospects. After 2011, the B.S letter from J.S., and no real action on the trade front…I just can’t get excited about the Braves.

This game should be part of my ticket package already, and the Braves expect me to pay extra AND drive all the heck the way up to Gwinnett on a week night in rush hour traffic to watch this “Exhibition” game???

This is different. At least the Braves made a move albeit nothing to improve the team. A change in the exibition schedule is big news for the Braves these days.

I totally understand the Braves now. 1 million more was too much for the Braves to pay Ross to split left field with Diaz. Makes sense to Wren, so that’s all that matters I guess. Looks like another long season in Atlanta.

Get used to seeing the phrase “tickets available” when referring to Braves this year.

Hurry up and get your tickets, it may be the only series the Braves win this year. I can’t wait for heads to roll after they have another collapse this season.

Find it kind of funny people are giving the Tigers grief for Miguel Cabrera at 3rd base next season. What he gives up defensively he’ll certainly make it back at the plate.

We’re going to battle with Chipper Jones, not that I don’t love the guy, but we have more faith in our 39 year old 3rd baseman than they have in Cabrera to provide offense.

It’s going to be a struggle to score runs, we might as well get used to it before spring training.

Will the Braves All-Stars consist of McCann, Chipper, Bourn, Prado, etc. or Ross, Hinske, Diaz, etc.??? This better not be a bait and switch exhibition game.

It is an exb. game and playing an exb. game against another MLB team does not make sense because it does not count , this gives the local fans a preview of who the future stars might be , to me this is a better event .
