The Braves Didn’t even Sell-Out when they Last went to the NLCS (2001)???
If so? Thats odd! Because that 2001 Team had heart and overachieved…

I think we saw the 501 while we were there? don’t hold me to that, we had our two little boys with us so we didn’t hang around long, we stopped in Nashville on the way and did more “sight-seeing” while there, funny how that stuff comes up though huh?

Seriously? I wish there were a way to show my posting history, here. I’m on this blog so infrequently anymore for just this very reason. People get bowed up with their keyboard muscles and start posting with ’swagger” and attitude; civility left this blog long ago.
I figured maybe since a few years had passed since I spent a little time conversing on this thing that it had calmed down and civility had been restored. Boy, was I wrong.
After today, I’ll just go back to enjoying the world away from my monitor, like everyone else outside your lovely little bubble here.
It’s easy to just read DOB’s articles; heck, mlbtaderumors.com will link to any interesting posts he writes within the blog, too, now, so I’m set.
You folks enjoy this little world of false bravado and made-up machismo. It’s sad that the good-natured fans can’t enjoy a discussion without some of y’all pouncing on what people say with retorts laced with words like “ridiculous” and “ludicrous” and “asinine.”
You won’t change my mind, and thankfully, anyhow, I’ve seen a few people post here that they don’t disagree with what I’m saying. Not that agreeing with me made them more sane then anyone else; they just digested what I said before blurting out acerbic retorts.

What does it matter. The point is the Braves draw large crowds on the weekends. Your alter ego, or buddy, Ron, claimed what, 11 times over 40k, what about 39,000+, or 38,000, thats more the Fenway will hold. The point is, the more people the Braves can get on the weekends, the better, to help offset week nights with 15,000.

Thanks for the movie recommendations, DOB. The wife and I rarely are able to go these days due to having little ones, but the best movie I think I saw that came out in 2011 was Bridesmaids. Young Adult was a good one, too.

That Place is a Great Place to work at in College…The owner personally Gives his employees a C-Note and Free Bottles of Champagne on New Years, Had Some crazy nights there before Leaving that town 8 years ago…

The most fun I ever had at Braves games was at Turner Field back in the 70’s when you could walk up and buy the cheapest seat and then around the Third Inning, you could walk down and sit in a front row seat on the First or Third base side and REALLY enjoy the game, because you could hear everything that was going on and was being said on the field. Great times to be a Baseball fan.

I am not disturbed by the big contracts as long as its not the Braves signing one of them. Let another team make that mistake. There are very few that would come close of making sense.

personally I think anything over three years isn’t in the best interest of the club, too much can go wrong. I’d be interested to see how much those insurance policies cost that the clubs take out on those contracts…

with really big names they are alright for some teams. The team might make enough extra in attendance at the beginning to balance the last few likely poor years, but I agree that they are usually bad deals and smart teams stay away

It All Started in 1999 When Kevin Brown Sign the 1st 100 mill contract (7 years). A-Fraud took it to Another level with the 10-252 mill in 2001

oh I agree guys, just sayin’ I think the clubs should have fought that one with more clout. as much as I like Chipper and have followed his career since he was drafted, the last contract Atlanta drafted for him wasn’t so much smart business as tipping the cap to him, just can’t figure why Detroit would do that for Fielder, a FA and an accomplished tool and clubhouse virus, strange, I predicted he’d be lucky to get 5 yrs and that the rumors were BS…

I can easily see both Double J and Big Red being asked to recieve 5 yr 80-95mill contracts respectively especially if start becoming innings eaters and stay healthy…
We All Know That for the most part, both Double J and Big Red Have both had Crappy Run Support in Both their respective careers here

I love the new uniforms. And the red ones wouldn’t be so bad if they toned down the red a bit. Those things are almost neon and are 10x worse than they already are with white instead of gray pants.

now that’s interesting, I wonder why? you would almost think that alone would make Fielder untouchable on a super long-term deal, strange just really strange. I think the one that really soured me on the long-term deals was Mike Hampton’s deal with us… God that was so awful. I felt so bad for him too, because it obviously ripped him up knowing he didn’t contribute hardly anything after the Braves signed him. Will say this tho, to his credit, WHEN he was healthy, he was great, one of the best in the game…

I’ve followed Bethancourt, I like his make-up. He reminds me of a young Benito Santiago. I live within reasonable driving distance of the Asheville Tourists and get to some of their games, usually try to get a game in against the Rome Braves and I saw him play for Rome. Quick behind the plate to be so tall, quick bat too. He hit a rope of a double off the center field wall in Asheville that night and it’s well over 400′. Problem is he’s progressed slowly, don’t know how close he is to ML ready? Keeping the other guy one more year at Gwinnet might’ve been smart. Anybody know much about the Kennelly guy? I hear he’s up and down a lot and might not catch in the show…

Pretty let down right now with all the news of the big signings, trades etc and all we have to talk about is hot dog prices, new uniforms, hoping Heyward can get a hit and how two of our best starters can make it past the All Star break! Did not address an outfield need , right hand power hitter and how Not to overwork our great young back end or the game pitchers. Still a big fan, trying to get pumped with what we have. Go Braves, we’re just depending on too many “ifs”
