Anything to bash Jason……

Yes. “Anything to bash Jason”. Slide that little zing in there. Repeat and rinse. It must be true if you say it enough.

and you can’t discount the seasons he was less than his career marks.

You mean the one I didn’t mention in my post .. the first year when he played in less than 100 games as a rookie. I mentioned his Rhianna year, and I pointed out he bounced back with a massive year, and didn’t win Come Back Player of the Year. Why do you insist this is simply not possible for Jason? Why do you hate him so? He’s a good kid. You really should stop dragging him down as you do.

With Venters… if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I’m assuming he decided to put on some muscle in the hopes that he won’t lose steam at the end of the season like he kinda sorta did this year… but will that really help? Seems that’s all on Fredi, not on Venters’ muscle mass.

Yup. Sorry about that. His rookie year he played 52 games, then the 98 game, age 22 season (.342/.373/.521/.894). Then his 155 game .290/.340/.459/.799 game season followed by his 159 game .297/.352/.490/.842 season. Then Rhianna. Then shouldabeen-MVP season.

Forgive me for hoping Heyward’s “Rhianna” year was last year and that his 2012 will be a “shouldabeen-MVP” season. If that’s bashing, then suckit. I ain’t stopping that sort of bashing.

His “Rhianna” year was .249/.310/.450, 106 OPS+ was 4 points of OPS+ from his 2008 season of .290/.340/.459, 110 OPS+ so let’s not act like she was the difference. Many, many were skeptical on Kemp’s ceiling based on those two seasons, TenneseePaul. 2 of his first 3 full seasons.

Yes. “Anything to bash Jason”. Slide that little zing in there. Repeat and rinse. It must be true if you say it enough.

Sorry, I disagree with the feeling that unless Heyward posts 880ish type year as a 22-23 year old, he is nopw in the grou[ping of “very good” and not “elite”. I used Kemp as an example of a plyer that took some time to get to elite status, and that was crapped upon by yourself.

I think being dissapointed in anything less than an 880ish year for a 22 year old is a bit much, scoots. Especially after the .709 he put up. I get what you’re saying, really. But, youth is only an alibi when coupled with inexperience. After three full years in the bigs, one should be getting more than glimpses of greatness, if greatness is indeed to be had.

Besides, if he doesn’t meet my expectations for this year, that’s not to say that he might not become an elite player in the future. What it does say is that such a pinnacle would then be beyond my expectations, rather than a realization of them. That’s all.

David O'Brien

Heyward’s swing is “90 percent” of the way back to his 2010 form, according to Chipper, who has helped out in Heyward’s sessions this month with new hitting coach Greg Walker and new assistant hitting coach Scott Fletcher.

Heyward looks good, by the way. Not that he was too big last year, because he wasn’t. But if he’s lost 10 pounds or whatever it is, he still is far and away the most impressive and imposing athlete in the room. Almost no body fat.

What it does say is that such a pinnacle would then be beyond my expectations, rather than a realization of them. That’s all.

Yeah, I’m gonna be optimistic and think he lands inbetween what you and I had: maybe an .845 OPS. I’d still have super-large expectations for him in 2013 if he produced that sort of a number in 2012.

Chipper on Wren not making any significant additions this offseason:

“We’re OK with that. You sit back and you watch some of the other teams in your division make moves, you’re thinking to yourself, ‘They’re getting better by the day.’ But that’s the nature of the beast. It really doesn’t mean anything. On paper it looks good for those people. It might sell a couple of extra tickets. But if you make all the moves and you look up at the end of July and you’re still five games under .500, it doesn’t do you a lot of good. We don’t plan on being in that spot. We want to fly under the radar and just beat people when the time comes.”

Nothing like a little success early on(ST) for JH to breed some confidence, to get him going and help him relax. Trying too hard in sports, especially when mentally you may be searching,or subconsciously you’re protecting an injury usually isn’t a good thing. Let’s hope he’s past the physical aspect of his game and he can rebuild the mental. No amount of broken windshields in batting practice is going to give him the confidence he needs. It’ll have to happen in “live action” as Turtle Man would say.

Do any of you buy the MLB tv package?
————

As some other ppl said it probably depends on where you live. So checking the link RC posted is probably good. I chose MLB.tv over MLB Extra Innings because I wanted to be able to access the games on my tv, computer and phone and I’m not in a blackout area (other than the normal Saturday FOX games). If you want to watch MLB.tv on your tv you have to have a device that supports the MLB.tv app hooked to your tv or you can just hook a laptop to the tv. List of products you can stream on http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/help/faq_subscriptions.jsp . If you have MLB Extra Innings you can only view the games on your tv in your home, where as MLB.tv allows you to have access no matter where you are. If you have a spotty internet connection than MLB.tv may not be a good option. You’ll have to have good bandwidth to stream live. Good luck.

I just woke up, maybe 3% is wrong since I only counted eligible players not all players. maybe top 10-12% instead.

18 players had an .850 or more in the NL. .13 players with .880 or more.

Like I said, cartwheels down the hall if Heyward posts an .850. I’ll be ecstatic.

“We want to fly under the radar and just beat people when the time comes.”
I love that quote by Wren. Of course, I’m one of the few who like the Braves standing pat this winter. Sure, a rh power bat would help, but I never did see how it could be done.

There’s more than a few. The ones who aren’t happy are just….louder and more noticable

If Brave drop three straight out of the gate, the suicide rate will skyrocket.

Another baseball movie filming in Atlanta….

“Trouble With the Curve” Justin Timberlake Joining Clint Eastwood, Amy Adams in Baseball Drama.
Justin Timberlake is joining Amy Adams and Clint Eastwood in Trouble with the Curve, the Warner Bros. drama which sees Eastwood’s longtime producer partner Robert Lorenz making his directorial debut. The road drama centers on an aging baseball scout (Eastwood) who goes on a road trip to search for new talent while trying to save his relationship with his adult daughter (Adams), a rising attorney who is on the verge of being promoted to partner. Timberlake will play a young scout who may be Adams’ love interest. A March start date in Atlanta is being eyed. (con’t)

If attendance falls below 2.25 million, does this mean a move to Montreal where they become the Expos?
Also, dump the alternate road uniform.
