Cody Ross signed with Boston for 3 million dollars, is that right?
And you think he would have played for Atlanta for 2.5 million because he likes Fredi?
$500,000.00 less ……………. I don’t know the guy but I would bet he loves his kids a hell of a lot more than he likes Fredi.

Deal is not officially done yet, from what I can tell, but it sounds like $3 million plus incentives for games played. So it could be for significantly more than that…can’t blame the guy for taking the better offer.

I think the Braves could have signed Ross for about the same price.One year for 3 mil. They should have signed him. Wren and Liberty Cheapia are the reason why.

Shoulda left the tomahawk on the front of the Braves’ jersey. I like the crème color, though. The Indians have very retro-looking uniforms, which are nice.

Not sure why the black tomahawk (1948) isn’t being used….much nicer. Maybe these would have been good for 2016 — 50th anniversary.
Maybe if the Braves sell enough of them we can afford a power hitter.

Attendance bumped up when the Heyward buzz arrived.
Conclusion: Bring in bigger names and you’ll see greater numbers.
Braves fans aren’t stupid, we’ve seen great regular seasons before. And when they flame out, we’ve seen minor changes that don’t amount to anything.

Also I can’t believe the braves only drew 2.3 million in 2004 that team was good. Chipper and Sheffield in the middle of the order. Good god is Atlanta a horrible sports town.

I just went down a list of the movies in 2011 and came up with my top 8……… er my only 8 movies. I also saw a few others from earlier years on long flights.
I only saw 1 movie on DOB’s list; Moneyball. But also liked the Harry Potter movie, Sherlock Holmes and War Horse.
Also saw The Green Hornet (was on a flight), The Adjustment Bureau, Battle:LA, and The Muppets.

The Adjustment Bureau annoyed the crap out of me- could have been so much better…just didn’t seem to go anywhere. (The Green Hornet was terrible. Loved Harry Potter) (Only spent money on Harry. Others I watched On Demand or on movie channels)

There ought to be some sort of life-force that disallows such a thing. In-flight system breakdown, at minimum, is what I’m sayin’…
(I really should shut up; I’ve never seen the movie. Most of my opinion is based on Seth Rogen cast as a superhero; decided I’d abstain.)

I think Ankiel would be a decent choice for the fifth bench spot, but one name that nobody (but me) has mentioned for the last spot on the bench is Kosuke F. (blog filter wont let me type his last name). He plays all 3 outfield spots, hits in the .260 range against both righties and lefties, and he gets on base at a solid .350 to .360 clip. Thats solid for a back-up, no power but I want somebody who can get on the bases.

There are a few areas I cover that have some incredible sky views when it’s clear. Especially incredible when it’s a full moon.
The best is on Togwotee Pass on Hwy 26 just east of The Tetons in Wyoming. Was on the pass 2-3 years back on a new moon night when it was totally dark on top. Incredible!

I always wondered if players use their down time on the road to hit the movies during the daytime. I know I would and sounds like you have too some DOB. Enjoyed the picks. I still don’t know how to describe Shame, but i liked it. I think the only one I would add would be Hugo to that list. Great story and a little history on cinema. Martha Marcy & Lincoln Lawyer were underrated. Excellent soundtrack too on the latter. The French actress in The Artist is worth the price of admission alone. Wow. Enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. Tinker Tailor- no clue. I was lost about 15 minutes in…..I gave it a shot though.

For no more than 2 million, I would sign F’dome. In 2225 career at-bats he gets on base a .361 clip. This team struggled bad getting on base last year and you cant score if you are not on base. Plus in 2009 and 2010 he got base at .375 and .371 clips. Thats very respectable.

Davis, players don’t really have time to go to movies during daytime before night games, as most get to the ballpark between 1-2 p.m., sometimes earlier. But a lot of them do go to movies on off days, especially on the road when they’re usually staying in hotels that are near theatres.
Agree with your opinions on Martha, etc., and Lincoln Lawyer being underrated, and The Artist — I felt same way you did, going in couldn’t imagine I’d be so entertained, but I was. That French actress is incredible, so charismatic and full of energy. The lead actor was also great.

I personally think that attendance will be down. Perhaps as low as 2 million for the season or below that.
Here are my reasons for this theory
#1. Failure to make any deals to excite fans
#2. The collapse of September still resonates with fans in a negative way.
#3. The team kepping Fredi Gonzalez as manager after this collapse. (Sometimes you need a scapegoat to rally the fanbase)
#4. I personally do not think they will be competive with Philly or Miami and possibly Washington. So attendance in the later months will be lower.
#5. The Economy (People are having to stretching their wallets more and more on gas and food and people are less likely to spend on luxuries such as baseball games)

Guess you missed this paragraph in the blog: “The Braves have neither confirmed nor denied there will be a new uniform, but I have it on good authority that it is indeed the alternate jersey, which will be worn with matching colored pants and won’t replace the red home jerseys or the regular home uni.”

Tonight read something sad. My sympathy goes out to Williams for the 49ers. Death threats should stop! Football is is game for fun,and all the players played their hearts out,and it came down to two mistakes at the end.Things happen,and we should learn to be real fans,and accept what ever happens…..Death threats…..How low………………..
