No one will ever be a Skip, he had his own uniqueness.

I love Sutton as a broadcaster too, he is himself and he adds a technical aspect of the game that only someone who played it could. And unlike other ex jocks, he is journalistically honest.

Some ex players just are kiis ups, like Lemke who I just cannot listen to and take seriously.

And I am disapointed in Leo Mazzone who is too much of a Kool-Aide drinker and expects people to say nothing but positive things when he does the talk show.

I miss the WSB days of the Braves to be honest.

Man, what in the blankety blank is Borass waiting for???

This is ridiculous that a free agent player of that high a profile has not signed with a team as of January 21st.

Hope some of the other players come off the board, I am sure these guys would like a team to settle with by early February.

The worst thing with Boras is the way he holds out to the August 15th deadline with draft picks, kids who lose a yr of development because they have an agent who drags things out till the last minute.

And the stupid owners let these agents get away with it. These owners are smart business people but they get kabooshed and bullied by Borass time and time again, just never know why.

Can you imagine that some day some writer might write a column recommending that Borass gets inducted in to the HOF? Hope not, but hey, you never know.

Sutton was good but not overpowering. There was a fair amount of griping when he was elected, many saying he got there by longevity rather than exceptional ability.
He always knew how to pitch and I still enjoy listening to his colorcasts

Sutton may not have been overpowering but given the total body of work, he deserved the election in my book.

If fact, if I had a choice, I would prefer Don Sutton over Nolan Ryan.

There are more ways to get a guy out than K’s.

Good thing FW is waiting things out on the trade front. Well, a) he probably had not much a choice due to money constraints, but I can see the logic in not making knee jerk trades because of questions around 3 key members of the SP staff and of course you have to think about Chipper’s health. Plus Heyward and Prado are coming off injury seasons. See how all these guys pan out in spring and then you’ll see exactly you’re at. Funky position FW is in.

Co-Sign!I like listening to Leo on Sports radio on his wisdom Leo Is but man, he is the Ultimate Kool Aid Drinker on Sports Radio in the Mornings…He was More Hardcore when he was a Coach…

Matt Chernoff Tells it like it is And Sandra Golden is the best part abt Sports Radio in the mornings, she knows her stuff and is good to look at

In regards to Don Sutton, Tim Hudson may be a modern day version if you wanted to get an idea. He was effective, did a terrific job but was very seldom ever mentioned as one of the top pitchers–Tom Seaver, Jim Palmer just to name a few.

rom what I look at on his stats It seems that Don Sutton was really Underrated as a Player…which is why I love his commentary…

Same for Steve Stone…Since I didn’t start watching baseball til 89-90 I didnt see muh of them pitch…

I didn’t see The Hawk “Ken Harrelson” play either… I heard he was a clown on the Field…

He’s one of my favorite commentators as well

I always like Don Suttons Interveiws on the old TBS before They Sold Out…

He had great Interviews with the players, especially the pitchers during the 90’s and early 2000’s…

I listen to the Fan on occansion (like in the car) and have listened to Chernoff trying to talk Braves (and he is a straight shooter) but his partner does not really like to take Braves and then tries to change the subject to SEC football and recrutin’

At least that is how I see it, but have not really been a regular except for baseball season now. And I never thought they gave the Thrashers the time I think they should have gotten, so I do not listen much unless its a baseball show.

Buck and Kincaide are the two that are most baseball oriented in ATL sports talk radio, and the other station is full of schtick. I hardly listen to 790, maybe they have changed but doubt it because I can listen to the Mike Bell’s of the world all of two seconds.

Oh, and Hawk Harrelson, what people forget is that he started his commentator carreer with the Red Sox whom he played his best baseball for, and he would up in Chicago because he did not get along wth then Red Sox ownership group then headed by haywood Sullivan and Buddy Le Roux.

He called out Don aka Dum Zimmer for the Bozo job he did managing the 1978 RS team that choked away a 14 game lead that year. Of course the team establishment got offended.

Hawk was gone by 1981, 82, do not remember.

Harrelson was not a great player but he did play in the 67 World Series for the Sox and in 1969, he led the AL in RBI’s wih 109.

Got traded to Cleveland a yr later, had a good power yr in 69 with CLE, but got hurt in 70 and by 1971 he left the game to try his hand in golf. Did not make it and in 75 started his career as color commentator with Dick Stockton on the Red Sox local broadcasts.

He is a WS homer now but who cares the dude has personallty

Funny how that changed. Georgia verses USC Trojans would have been a fun game to watch that year. Much better than Fl v Ohio

How was Don Sutton as a pitcher?

I watched Moneyball last night and there was a scene from the walkoff HR that won the A’s 20th straight. There was a guy named Sutton celebrating at home plate and of course I first thought of Don Sutton before I realized the years were wrong. It ended up being some obscure guy who had 19 at bats and 1 hit for the year. But at least he was in the movies!

Don Sutton was a pretty good pitcher to say the least. 324 W’s and the HOF.

On the hockey side they were awful but they have built a respectable basketball team.

And Joe Johnson, maybe a bit overpaid but he is a darned good ballplayer, and by the time he is through here he might hold the Hawks scoring record.

Joe Johnson has taken this Hawks team as far as the exhalted Dominique did, he never took then to a Confrence Final. Not all his fault but…….

The Spirit cannot be any more impersonal than Liberty Media. Ideally, I would like Mark Cuban but to date he is not interested. I’d like someone like him of course.

Maybe Liberty is not interested in selling anyway.

I just want to get rid of Liberty and would take Bennie the Broom man or Joe the Janitor just for a change for the sake of change.
