cab off to the USC-UCLA game, giving me an opportunity to try to catch up to her post output yesterday…
Who here has direct tv with the extra inning package???Is it worth it? Opinions??
I think instead of MLB.TV this year I want to get extra innings.
January 15th, 20126:34 pm
who dem giants
January 15th, 20126:35 pm
Nicely done, after I was very unhappy with the previous play…
Wow. Giants are bringing even more pressure as the game goes on. Crazy.
January 15th, 20126:36 pm
And my attention also inspired Duke to overcome their shaky start and pull ahead of Clemson…
well someone said they were 2 for 2 yesterday on their picks and looks like 0 for 2 today. im looking good for 8 for 8 do far and havent even hardly watched any football this year if the giants hang on today.watched the pansies some this year but you cant hardly call what carolina does as football
January 15th, 20126:39 pm
So far so good, The GIANTS are getting it done.
January 15th, 20126:40 pm
Five weeks from today, #Braves pitchers and catchers report to spring training at Dark Star, aka Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
January 15th, 20126:43 pm
Ron Washington already named his opening day starter(Colby Lewis). Yikes. Early……
January 15th, 20126:44 pm
Every time I look at that picture of JACK WILSON on the front page I get upset. Is this the best F WREN can do this off season?
January 15th, 20126:45 pm
Headline tomorrow reads, ” G-Men sack Pack in rout to win 30-10″
January 15th, 20126:49 pm
Might be a good idea to kick the field goal on 3rd down to avoid the turnover possibility…

Still would like to know why DOB calls it DARK STAR.

January 15th, 20126:54 pm

January 15th, 20127:05 pm
Who says the hitting coach doesn’t make any difference?…KL
I kept suggesting that, but BAS and some others kept saying no about the OBP. I’m still not entirely sure how there could be THAT much of a difference in one year,
January 15th, 20127:08 pm
so who dam giants
Way to go, D!!!
January 15th, 20127:13 pm

January 15th, 20127:20 pm

Blow to the head???????????????????
Lame. I hate roughing the passer penalties.
January 15th, 20127:31 pm
Good grief. They have hit Opie a lot harder than that BS call
January 15th, 20127:37 pm
Referees have now gift-wrapped 2 TDs for the Packers today…
January 15th, 20127:39 pm
Nevermind, re-death nail.
Coach (2012 Fredi's beisbol fandango)
January 15th, 20127:42 pm
Our 2010 Braves led the N.L. in walks with 634 which also greatly contributed to their .339 OBP. Which by the way, also led the N.L.
Coincidently, we finished 8th in walks and 14th in OBP during 2011. Terry Pendleton should have kept his job, period. Hiring and firing his replacement was a HUGE MISTAKE on the part of Frank Wren and the Braves front office.
January 15th, 20127:43 pm
Great run, Bradshaw!!!
January 15th, 20127:45 pm
Double death nail!!!
January 15th, 20127:46 pm
Guess Aaron Rodgers forgot to refuse to lose today.
Yesssss go giants
Hard to believe my Redskins beat the Giants twice this past season.
Bring on the cab-VJ bowl next weekend!
January 15th, 20127:47 pm
Congrats, VJ, Ward & any other Giants fans
jeffrey doo doo
Geeze….I was rooting for the Saints and Packers in the NFC. Good thing I didn’t place any name bets on these games
January 15th, 20127:48 pm
Kat is the obvious other one…
Yup, congrats from me too – fun times await next weekend.
Sorry Tom O’ – I’m sure y’all will be back at it next season.
January 15th, 20127:51 pm
Ha, guess so, Soph. Nice line
January 15th, 20127:52 pm

January 15th, 20128:04 pm
It kills me that Opie got hammered several times and discount double check gets hit once and it’s a penalty
January 15th, 20128:05 pm
Just realized Boog doing the Duke game…
January 15th, 20128:14 pm
Everyone off to watch Ricky Gervais, it appears…
January 15th, 20128:28 pm
Yes RG will make the plastic faces of hollywood hmm melt a bit as he turns up the heat
January 15th, 20128:42 pm
Soriano and 40 million for PTBNL….that leaves us on the hook for 14 million over 3 years for RH corner outfielder that hit 26 dingers in only 137 games.
January 15th, 20128:53 pm
beekay would be better with 68 million and no ptbn later for soriano. that way they pay us 14 million to cut him
January 15th, 20128:58 pm
soriano is simply awful. Just a shell of what he used to be as a fielder and a hitter
January 15th, 20128:59 pm
A website claims this is the new Braves alternate uniform. If so, I like it a lot. I tend to think it is, since I was told the new alternate uni would be cream-colored and a throwback style.
January 15th, 20129:02 pm
Okay, I like ‘em
January 15th, 20129:03 pm
Just say, yeah I don’t think so to Soriano.
Well, my entire family are Giants fans(Mets too), but I am the black sheet Niner fan. It’ll be a great game, and I do like the Niners to win.
What’s hilarious is that you keep hearing the remaining teams have great defenses…..except the Pats. Pats didn’t play anyone this year, and I like their matchup vs. the Ravens. I’m going with a Patriots/Niners Super Bowl.
January 15th, 20129:09 pm
O’ contrare mon ami. The PATS played the mighty REDSK-ONIONS which they peeled like one.

Don’t much care if he hit 26 “dingers,” when his 482 other plate appearances produced a total of 90 hits, 27 walks and 2 stolen bases? The man had a .289 OBP! And a .303 OBP in 2009. And he’s hit under .250 over the past three years.
January 15th, 20129:28 pm
Bat and NC Gary….soriano hit twice as many HR’s as Cody Ross had a higher batting average, and there are people that want to give him 2 years 10 mill to play for us. I think if the cubs gave 40 million to get rid of him, I would take it unless you think we can make a big trade with Prado and JJ to get someone else.
January 15th, 20129:32 pm
DOB , Ross had slightly better OBP and a worse slugging % and worse OPS and yet many on this blog want him. He would most likely be more expensive as well.
January 15th, 20129:35 pm
Soriano is cooked, and has been for a while. He was always a flawed player. I wouldn’t want him stealing plate appearances from Martin Prado. Braves are pretty much set, however I really hope they get another outfielder for when Chipper needs rest and Prado plays third. I’d say it’s pretty important, but perhaps Wren feels he can fill the need during February.
January 15th, 20129:38 pm
Its good to be a NY Giants fan!!
but perhaps Wren feels he can fill the need during February….Efrim
if he even sees it as an important need at all
January 15th, 20129:40 pm

Ross’ OBP was 36 points higher; I’d say that’s a little more than “slightly better.” And he can play serviceable-or-better defense at all three OF spots. Soriano plays one OF position — LF — and not well.
January 15th, 20129:41 pm
Yes, good point. And I’m pretty surprised they haven’t filled that need….unless they are willing to go with some sort of a Hinske/Diaz/Constanza platoon. Why don’t we give Joe Mather a call and see what he’s doing……..
January 15th, 20129:43 pm
TennBravesFan – congrats to one of the few of us here!
January 15th, 20129:44 pm
Soriano has not been a good player in what 5-7 yrs ago? No one wants him. The Cubs can’t get rid of him. Enough said about that. Ross, IMO do not see him accepting a 1 yr deal until it gets real close to ST
January 15th, 20129:46 pm
Despite the Braves being dormant this winter, it was a pretty interesting offseason. Pujols/Wilson going to the Angels, the Marlins craziness, and four young, controllable starters being dealt for big prospect packages(Cahill to D-Backs, Latos to Reds, Gonzalez to Nats, and Pineda to Yankees). Fielder still hasn’t signed yet, but I do think that happens at some point within the next 7-10 days(just a guess based on his visiting teams this weekend).
January 15th, 20129:49 pm
Next offseason will be filled with plenty of Braves transactions if I had to guess, trades and a couple minor free agent signings. Heck, our entire bench is set to become free agents – so I think there will be quite a bit more player movement. Unless Wren decides to go with they 8-man starting rotation….
January 15th, 20129:51 pm
Rangers may make a play for Fielder once they get the Yu situation settled.
January 15th, 20129:52 pm
While I do not watch football that closely, I have to admit that I hoped the Giants would lose. Not that I care so much. Just don’t want to hear people around here talking about them. I am tired of walking into a store and that there is some assumption that I care and that I must be supporting them. Wanted them to just slink away.
January 15th, 20129:58 pm
With Seth Smith avoiding arb, does that make him more/less attractive or does it move the meter at all? And for those that are tired of the seth smith stories, sorry.
January 15th, 20129:59 pm
Not going to apologize, Moe…
I’m not so sure about next winter having all that many Braves transactions Efrim, we’ll see I guess.
January 15th, 201210:01 pm
As a Braves fan, and Vols fan, it does me a lot of good to see one of my teams playing good in the playoffs. 2011 was a rough sports year for me.
I think (hope) a Seth Smith trade is sooo last year
January 15th, 201210:04 pm
VJ–You would not be a good fan, if you even considered apologizing.
Ray–I don’t know that I am tired of the Seth Smith conversation. It is not like the Johnny Damon debates from a few off-seasons ago. Just somehow, I don’t see moving JJ or Prado for him.
January 15th, 201210:06 pm
I might park on the blog next weekend just to watch the fireworks as VJ’s Giants go toe-to-toe with cabravesfan’s Niners.
How’s everyone doing? Whew nice game, and will take it. Giants have to play 49rs,who has great D. Should be a lot of fun.
January 15th, 201210:08 pm
DOB- Check out the New movies “The Grey”,and “Haywire”,should be some good ones. Great reviews on both.
January 15th, 201210:09 pm
Juan Pierre, fourth outfielder. Jeff Keppinger, utility man.
January 15th, 201210:10 pm
abwright – when we played during the regular season I was not expecting to win – not so much now, and the stakes are much higher…
