I would settle for Rick Ankiel and Jeff Keppinger on my bench. Both are versatile, veteran and affordable. Ankiel: LF, CF, RF, pinch hit, pinch run, strong defender. Keppinger: 3B, SS, 2B, pinch hit, utility infielder.

Feel better? Just pick whatever stats you can find to help your useless argument. Pre injury Prado had a .761OPS. His 3 previous seasons were .809, .822, .838. But yeah he sucks.

Prado’s an overachiever and the hardest working athlete on the team. Which is really all anybody needs to truly understand why he is so valuable.

Rick Ankiel was misused by Bobby Cox. Which is why I don’t pay any attention to the numbers. His value lies in versatility, defense and leadership. I’ll take the guy on my team any day.

This Maybe one of the First Times I have ever disagreed with you… but Stankiel was a Serious Liability at the plate when he was with us in 2010, hence the reason he hit 8th when the team started to get injured in September…To The Extent that Joe Mather may’ve out-hit him in 2011 and thats saying something!

@Coach!
I don’t Think Martini is an Overachiever, since we haven’t seen him play 150 games healthy…
A healthy Martini gets better with age as he learns the league and fills his frame …The Dude is capable of doing 20-70 in a 150 games season…Problem is he has had tons of nagging injuries the last 2 years…That wouldn’t've been an issue in the PED era…

ankiel as a 4th OF who can cover all the OF positions and play LF when Prado is at 3B is not a bad option. Not exciting by any means but not a bad option either

I agree. I would definitely take another look at Ankiel. Guy isn’t a huge bat but carries some pop. But he can play all over the OF and is a plus defender.

Thing about Jones is…..
Yeah he has lost a lot.
Yeah he makes way too much money.
But he still throws fear into opposing managers. Just ask The Lizard Baker and others.
Guy deserves a farewell tour. Let him play his 90-120 games and move on. Hopefully we can get .270/15/60 out of him. We’ll see how our “manager” handles him in the lineup.

It does sound like the Yankees are going to bail out Boras and Edwin Jackson. Not sure who else will do it. Three year deal makes the most sense. No way he gets five years, 75 million like he was seeking earlier in the winter. Sabathia, Jackson, Nova, Burnett, Hughes, Garcia….

Good point Tomahawkin.
About the only thing most of those Cats or can I say Bubbas on 680 the Fan really care about is College Football and recrutin’ . And try to talk about anything out of the SEC or deep South and they do not want to hear it.
For a city as diverse as ours, and with fans from different cities, we have the WORST Sports Talk in the country. The station I like is 620 in Tampa and Nashville area has better Sports Talk then us.
They glance on the Hawks, and outside of Buck and Kincaide, they really do not care about the Braves.
And all we get on 680 is Braves apologists. The worst one is Leo Mazzone, and I am disappointed in him as a so called baseball analyst. He and Lemke both come across as disingenuine and apologetic.
I like College Football, did not grow up in a College Football hotbed, (prefer the NFL) but dm, there are other sports out there. Atlanta makes too much out of Colege Football.

Jim, concerning your 6:24 post, if that’s all you got then you should really just not comment as it clearly shows just how badly you misunderstand well, most everything…. By Chipper’s own admission, I think everyone is well aware that the MVP days of Chipper Jones have passed. However Chipper clearly has a presence on this team. Obviously, if he’s healthy and playing he’s certainly capable of being dangerous in our lineup. Even if he’s not playing, he has the respect of his teammates and plays a vital role as a teammate. I bet if you ask his teammates, when he speaks, they listen with respect. Instead of making ignorant comments that really make you look bad, perhaps you should appreciate the fact that he is still with this organization and doing the things he still does. Personally, even with him being 40, I’m not particularly looking forward to the day he steps aside. Regardless of how much payroll this frees up for the Braves, that will be a sad day for anyone that gets it and truly understands.

I’m just flabbergasted that the Braves are handing Pastorinicky the starting shortstop job. It has Jordan Schafer in 2009 written all over it – a good, but not great, prospect being rushed into a starting role because Wren doesn’t want to spend money on a proven player at that position.
And to make matters worse, the Braves have nothing behind Pastor at the moment. Brandon Hicks is not a major league-quality player. If Pastor struggles mightily, the Braves are going to have to go a full season with retreads like Jack Wilson and Julio Lugo manning shortstop.
