Nolie, I must be misremembering. Where was he batting during those 160 AB? And did he start the games in those slots, or was he entering later in the games as a pinch-hitter?

Del Rio may not be a bad option. Just wondering if he would be interested in coming to Atlanta.

Obvisiously Braves Management could care less what fans think. Fans are the losers, and the dummies that continue to buy tickets. Fans are the only persons that do not understand what it take to win because they are STUPID. Ask John and Frank…..they know that the sheep will follow them.

I disagree as do most scouting reports on him

Man I hope we get Ankiel back. That will solve all of our problems….

Atlanta Teams can be summed up in one statement:

We are as good as anyone else, except when it counts (playoffs). Atleast the Thrashers saw this coming and jumped ship. Oh wait, they sucked, thats why. Oh well, there go Atlanta fans above average teams who cant and will not win it all.

Chipper had
33PA at second
53PA at fourth
52PA at 5th
27PA at sixth
1PA at eigth
9PA at ninth
the only slots where he did not average at least 3 at bats per game were 8th and 9th, so he was starting at most all those slots

Arkansas Transplant

Well, I’ll take that under advisement but I think I’ll stick with my opinion.. Pinpoint control and an exceptional change is his best bet to stick around.

chipper has been a big team guy over the years, any talk about his ego affecting the team is malarkey. If it meant all that much he would not have moved to left which hurt his HOF chances possibly, not moved to clean up, which he dislikes, for Shef and Drew

McCann should never bat third with his speed. He did hit there a couple of games and surely as he is slow, he clogged up the basepaths and cost the Braves runs and killed rallies.

Nolie, don’t get me wrong. I have always been and continue to be a big Chipper fan. I am well aware of the concessions he has made over the years, monetary and otherwise, for the betterment of the team. My opinion was not meant to belittle Chipper in any way. But it is my belief that, at this stage in his career, if he isn’t good enough to be 3 or 4, he’ll hang it up. But you know, I really could be full of crap. We’ll see!

Nolie – I will always remember a game where McCann hit third and was on first. The four hitter hit a ball in the outfield gap all the way to the wall in right and was headed for third when he looked up and saw McCann at third – stopped. He really had to scramble back to second he had gone around so far.

What do they use at dog races? The mechanical rabbit? They should install one of those at the ST facility, only replace the rabbit with a donut or some beef jerky.

If he’s only allowed to eat what he can catch McCann will get real fast real quick. Or eat one of the rookies.

My elderly aunt in Honolulu – who is still hacked off that she can’t watch the Braves every day on TBS – is always sending me baseball-related articles she’s clipped. The latest one is about an autographed photo of Babe Ruth and Duke Kahanamoku (olympic champion swimmer and surfing enthusiast) taken in 1933. It was taken on Waikiki Beach with Diamond Head in the background and nary a high-rise bulding in sight along the coastline.

Apparently, the photo is up for auction.

The article goes on to quote a UPI article about Ruth in the Islands to relax after the W Series and play a few exhibition games: “Before the game started Ruth complained that the baseballs provided were ’second grade’.”

The Cubs and Tigers are “down the road” in talks about a deal that would sent Matt Garza to Detroit for a package of prospects, according to David Kaplan of CSNChicago.com.

http://www.csnchicago.com/blog/cubs-talk/post/Tigers-Cubs-talking-Garza-trade?blockID=627864&feedID=661

Jives with the “Cubs/Maholm” news from this morning. Theo is going to break it down completely. Makes sense. Garza could get hurt during the first half and then his trade value goes way down. Best case is to trade him now and if they can get Jacob Turner, more power to them…..even if Turner only has a #2/3 ceiling.

Auntie also sent be an article from Gudepost magazine written by Huddy talking about his early career, elbow injury and comeback………having to wait out the rain delay before his first start in 13 mos.

Talking about how pumped he got to pitch and how competitive he was. He was watching a game replay where he had just struck out Garciaparra to end an inning. “I stared at him as I walked off the mound, as if to say, ‘you can’t beat me’. Garciaparra got ticked off and shouted something at me. My stare turned into glass – cold, hard, almost menacing. Watching the replay, I couldn’t believe that was me”…….explaining to reporters, “I know I weigh a hundred and sixty pounds, but when I’m out there on the mound I feel like I’m two hundred and twenty.”

His alter-ego – Huddy the Horrible

“I hope Chipper Jones has a monster season. I hope its a healthy one aswell….”

Chipper’s got to be healthy to have a chance at a monster season. Huh? I’d actually take a 20-80-.275 season (along with the other key stats). We’ll see, though. Forty years old and bad knees makes it more of a challenge for Chipper.

Jeff R

January 9th, 2012

Ups Jurrjens value, then (a Garza trade).

Wren is being smart (now) not running after a deal for Jurrjens or Prado. Jurrjens might just be more attractive to teams right as spring training advances. Or Jurrjens may stay a Brave and have a solid rebound season.

I know it’s a great thing that we each have our own perspective, that humor is subjective, that one man’s Dane Cook is the next’s Richard Pryor. But, man alive, the McCann fat jokes are played out.
