I think DOB provides the absolute BEST coverage of any sports team in Atlanta. But I don’t like the music info. Does that make me not cool? I hate having to scroll down past the lyrics every blog but guess what, this blog is still the best source of Braves information. This blog is located in the sports section and withing the sports section, it is located in the Braves section.

The music and the BBQ is just necessary evil to get to the good stuff.

Bobby Bond’s sentence is a joke…Kurt Busch got more than that for speeding on pit row and shooting a bird.

So today the Padre’s trade Latos to the Reds for four players including two top prospects. If Frank Wren keeps waiting all his potential trade partners are going to be gone. The Reds are now not as desperate for pitching and therefor probably won’t give the Braves as much as before the Latos trade. The Red Sox are rumored to be close to a deal with the A’s for pitching. I’m not sure if the plan is to keep JJ as an insurance policy incase Hudson isn’t back fully after surgery or in case Tommy Hanson is in real trouble. I personally don’t think Hanson will ever not be a big risk and one bad pitch away from being on an operating table. It’s hard to believe his shoulder (rotator cuff) will be better with just rest when it had a partial tear and he could barely pick up a baseball at the end of last year. Whatever caused the tear in his motion is not gone and IMO will likely aggravate it again.
It’s sad because I’m a big Tommy Hanson fan but unless someone works with him to change his delivery his career could be short lived.

It seems like the Braves need to hang on to Prado because Chipper should not be counted on to play more than 100-120 games next year and there could always be injuries to Uggla, or Freeman and Martin can play both 2b and 1B if needed as well as LF. Unless we trade pitching for a stud OF I think the Braves are going to settle for back-up SS and an outfielder that is really a 4th outfielder to play LF when Prado is in the infield.

The braves working with the orioles on a trade……..that really gets me pumped up. The o’s are loaded with talent. If that doesn’t work out maybe wren can plunder the pirate’s roster for another fine player like McLouth.

Not trying to be a downer here because there’s lot’s of time between now and April but it’s a little disappointing to be kissing Christmas with nothing done yet. Other teams have spent $884 million dollars on free agents already and Prince Fielder isn’t off the board yet. We of course don’t need a first baseman so he won’t be coming to Atlanta. I hope this is the last year the Braves are saddled with bad contracts. Chipper will be off the books unless he vests which means he has to play and that’s good if he’s healthy, the Lowe contract is over and we’ll have an option on Hudson. If he pitches well his leadership will be worth keeping him for and if he doesn’t we aren’t committed beyond this year. I know logically the Braves should be very competitive this year but there is no guarantee with young pitching like we have that someone won’t fare even worse than DLowe.. It seems like a rotation of Hudson, Beachy, Minor, Hanson and either JJ or Medlin or Delgado should be solid. I put JJ at the back of the rotation because who knows if he’ll even be here in spring. If he is he’s the #2 starter. Hanson worries me because it seems so hard to believe that his injury last year is better with rest only. We need big bat in LF and unless we pull of a big trade with Baltimore which according to sources in the Orioles organization isn’t going to go the way the Braves want it, we are not looking to good. We might be down to signing Raul Ibanez and platooning him with Prado unless Martin is needed in the infield and then the platoon shifts to Diaz/Ibanez. I don’t like this idea at all but it just feels like the Braves are trying to do this on the cheap as usual. Can we please have a real owner soon? Corporate owners that are in other sports markets don’t make for a fun fan experience.

Dap01, one day you will listen to a song that DOB reco’s and you’ll thank him. Try it sometime, I promise it won’t kill you. With DOB braves insights and the music and Que, he gives us the lanyap of all braves blogs, and as a stranded southerner in NY, I am grateful.

Musica:

Get a life you self-righteous, elitist loser. Do I not have a right to my opinion? I listen to all kinds of music, and I enjoy Prince. I’m sure your almighty list that is the end-all-be-all of correctness is well represented on my iTunes. But this is an article about a former member of DBT, who I have become a huge fan of. Lyrically Drive By Truckers’ music really strikes a chord with me because of the way they tell stories through the perspective of the common, relatable man. You might not get the same thing out of them as I do but I really don’t care. In fact I don’t give a damn what you think about anything since it’s obvious that you are the kind of person who has never been wrong about anything in your life. Enjoy your life pal

Here’s the best song on Here We Rest: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=So_epUNZTyI

Spectacular album. Isbell is one of the great singer/songwriter/guitar players of this generation but will probably never get his due.

By far the most helpful as well as current info I recently found for this area. I am sure pleased that I saw that article by chance. I’ll probably be subscribing to your own rss feed so that I can have the most recent updates. Love all the stuff here.

Funny, MLB Trade Rumors has a new post up on the NL East and the Braves aren’t even mentioned in it. The Braves are nothing more than a bunch of f’n liars that try year after year to get the fans to buy into what they are doing just so they can live a lavish lifestyle and its getting old. I have backed this team since I was 6 years old, and I am done. This team is nothing more than a bunch of pathetic losers that can’t get anything done. Odious.

Love it. An article that has Rafael Belliard and Todd Snider in it might have been the greatest journalistic accomplishment of the year. Two of my all-time favorites, thanks DOB.

Dave,

Well rehearsed and executed quip to the all-too-predictable troll who takes the time to comment on something he says he doesn’t care about! LOL!!!

Pretty amazing that DOB catches hell for blending music and baseball. I LOVE that about this publication, and this blog, is precisely why I come to AJC.com everyday. DOB has an amazing thing going.

Isbell’s latest album really is a classic. I will always associate the Summer of ‘11 with “Here We Rest”.

Oh, and Prince is great. Far better than to have morons out defending him on blogs, who probably really don’t even understand his talent.
