And entire future infield of guys whose names resemble the sound of a hard sneeze or cough.

Rangers need a starting pitcher. We have Jair Jurrgens.

From Yahoo sports :

The Texas Rangers are keeping busy right now trying to find a trade that will bring them a starting pitcher rather than throwing all energy into getting Prince Fielder or Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, Fox Sports reports.

Some of the arms that the Rangers are looking at include Matt Garza of the Chicago Cubs, lefty Gio Gonzalez of the Oakland Athletics and Wade Davis of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Best of luck to Brooks Conrad; the guy played hard every time out and you could tell he wanted to make the most of an opportunity that was over a decade in the making (toiling in the minors). My heart ached for him during that 3-error game in the NLCS; as frustrating as it was from a fan’s perspective, I knew it had to be eating at him many times worse, and I appreciate that level of caring in a player.

As for Moylan, he may or may not return, but if not I wish him the best as well; he’s given the Braves a lot more good outings than bad ones, and when he was on he was as shut-down as anybody.

We really don’t need two more players who have 320 OBP, do we?
.Everybody hated Francouer but Jones is Jeff as a hitter and a rather poor defender too.

I love the team we have now. We will have bourn for the whole year. We have the best bull pin in baseball. A very good rotation. If we can score a few runs we can beat any team any day. Go Braves. Also cant wait to see t-mac in a Hawks uni so call me a homer.

What about Jurrjens to the Rangers for Leonys Martin (speedy CF prospect) and Mike Olt (RH 3B prospect with some pop).

Jurrjens would project well in Arlington. They need as many groundball pitchers as they can find in that bandbox.

Since we are comparing Jason Heyward to others, try this:
Heyward (age 20): 18 HR; 72 RBI; .277 BA; .393 OBP
Heyward (age 21): 14 HR; 42 RBI; .227 BA; .319 OBP

Mays (age 20): 20 HR; 68 RBI; .274 BA; .356 OBP
Mays (age 21): 4 HR; 23 RBI; .236 BA; .326 OBP

Willie had some monster years after that modest start. Might be a good idea to wait and see what Jason does over the next few years.

Since 2008, Jurrjens has a 16.5% K rate paired with 8.2% walk rate. His ground ball rate is a less than sterling 44.7%. The only other right-handed starting pitchers with similar rates over that same time frame are Mike Pelfry and Jon Garland. Hardly standout group of hurlers

Terrible if Braves trade JJ and Prado for Hardy and Adam Jones. Way too much money and I belive A. Jones is a downgrade in our outfield. Prado in LF is better than A. Jones in LF. We have Bourn in CF…JJ Hardy cost $7Millon.

If Braves are going to spend that much they should get Beltran and keep JJ and Prado. Beltran/Prado/Jurrjens is much beeter than Hardy /Adam Jones, Braves might not be able to afford, but a much better team.

NO not really… Between 2001 and 2008 Beltran played in at least 140 games each season. That’s 9 out of the past 11 years that Beltran has played at least 140 games. That is very dependable.

In 2012 Beltran has bad knees which limited him to only 81 and 64 games in 09 and 10. Beltran in LF Chipper at 3rd and Prado giving both plenty of rest will be much more productive that Adam ( Francoeur) Jones and JJ Hardy.

If Braves can’t afford Beltran or don’t want to gamble on his knees being healty than that is one thing, but Trading JJ and Prado for Adam Jones and Hardy is a terrible trade

I shake my head when I hear.. we didn’t make a trade TODAY so we are not doing anything,,Wren didn’t pull a trade today so he doesn’t want to make the team better etc…. or why can’t Wren trade for this superstar or that superstar.. come on Wren trade Diaz for Matt Kemp… yes that is a bit of an exaggeration but not too far. How many big trades happen after the 1st of the year but before spring training? I’m sure there have been plenty, but none come to mind.

Not sure why but I usually assume the team that we start the new year with is pretty much the team that goes to spring training. That perception may be why so many are getting antsy… just doesn’t seem to be much that happens around the league after Jan 1.

Drop the Carlos Beltran speculation. There’s way too much interest in that guy– see: http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/Rockies-signing-Carlos-Beltran-;_ylt=Aor1KGnwz3J55TetUVJWJU0RvLYF?urn=mlb-wp262.

The Braves/Wren have shown that they don’t get into bidding wars (at least, not recently). Perfect example is the Hunter Pence / Michael Bourne trades over the summer. Everybody was after Pence (and people speculated that the Braves were after Pence); but it was a charade– the Braves were after Bourne all along.

I think we can expect an off- the-beaten track move from Wren. The Orioles rumors seem close to the truth to me. That kind of came out of nowhere, right? I suspect that’s where we’ll see a trade happen, if one does happen.

But Beltran– too many people are interested. Forget it.

rechingball: def. higher than The Trop in Tampa, where old Mr. Smith had fewer balls hitting the side of his house than pop-up’s hitting the ceiling when the Rays played. Looks like a nice place to play ball, but The Fed is down here to investigate the shennanigansthat went on in building this travesty. The great grand children of folks living down here will still be paying for that tax crime of a white elephant. If Cedeño can catch and throw within the zip code of what Gonzo did, then get ‘im, and plug ‘im in the 8-hole – or nine if Huddy is pitching. Any chance at all to get someone like Trumbo from the Halos now that they got Albert?? That would be a trade I would be all for and could probably just give up prospects since their rotation is set and so is their lineup.

They have a crowded OF with big contracts that are not likely to move and the top prospect in Trout. So why not move an attractive piece to get prospects. I feel something could get done and am surprised more trade rumors have not surfaced yet with them since their big FA signings
