See, look at all my fellow bloggers immediately come to my rescue. They LOVE me! Thanks guys …… and gals.
I love the way Tom shows up for 2 nights in a blog period, yet still outdistances me easily… — Venice Jim
It’s quality, not quantity
(Wait a minute, that’s not the right one.)
A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush
(Holy crap! That one’s even worse.)
He’s a loquacious drunk, and never knows when to call it a night
December 15th, 20119:24 pm
I don’t know tiger, but I did not see any of that much last season. It was a jumbled up mess to me.
How did I know? TOM’O got a new playlist for ya’ man.
December 15th, 20119:26 pm
the loquacious drunk searching for two in the bush since he didn’t realize the quality in hand was worth more than the quantity he searched for?
sounds like my 20’s & 1/2 my 30’s
December 15th, 20119:28 pm
when its sleepy time down south…
December 15th, 20119:29 pm
mine too tiger.
Chris from the Rock
It’s high time for McGuirk to get off his fat surplus, do his job, and lobby to the muckety-mucks at Liberty Media to raise payroll. I fully understand that the Braves are in the middle of the pack in attendance. But you have to spend money to make money. A sexy acquisition or two would improve gate numbers. It’s time to stop blaming Wren for this quiet offseason. Trying to make a splashy move with this payroll is like trying to squeeze a nickel out of a rock.
December 15th, 20119:30 pm
So here we go TOM O’:
Pipes Honour [ Smoker's Delight] NIGHTMARES ON WAX
Afternoon Soul [Water 4 the Soul] GRAMATIK
Can’t hide love [Face to Face] WAYMAN TISDALE
Get down on it [Way Up] WAYMAN TISDALE
And a couple change-ups thrown in
Entering Twin Falls [ The music of the Grand Canyon] NICHOLAS GUNN
Something Outside [Supernatural] SAAFI BROTHERS
Some really off-beat tunes. Hope you enjoy them.
December 15th, 20119:31 pm
December 15th, 20119:35 pm
I agree, even a small increase around 5 million more would give Wren alot more flexibility for trades and help with free agency. But regardless we wernt in position to spend big money this offseason. Next offseason should be way different, Lowe’s 10mil is coming off, Possible Chipper hanging it up. Bourn most likely exits
Thats 31 million right there from 3 guys being off the books. Yes will have guys getting raises and such, But next offseason Wren will have enough to make a big addition.
December 15th, 20119:38 pm
Hello, M’LAdy, I’m glad to see you were lurking.
richbrave, here’s a group I’ve been listening to, lately. You may already be familiar with them, being they’ve been around for a while (Jarryd knew them).
December 15th, 20119:39 pm
Falcons are rolling!
I usually am
December 15th, 20119:40 pm
Considering they are playing one of the worst teams in the league, I would hope so!
Listening to Les Nuits by NIGHTMARES ON WAX. Repetitious back-beat, but smooth with a nice electric keyboard solo in the middle. 195 LBS had a solid funk back-beat. Pretty far out. The vocals kinda remind of MONGO JERRY.
December 15th, 20119:41 pm
THANX my man.
December 15th, 20119:43 pm
I don’t know if it’s possible (there probably is with this internet thing), but I’d like to see what Braves attendance was when we had all those thumpers together on the same team – Jones Boys, Sheffield, Lopez, Castillla and Furcal leading off. People like offense and come out to see it.
December 15th, 20119:44 pm
I should be able to check them all out tonight. I have to say that I’m not familiar with any of those names… and THANKS.
December 15th, 20119:47 pm
Dob the orioles gm said he had a couple of trade discussions open do u think one of them is with the braves
December 15th, 20119:49 pm
You remember TISDALE. Power forward for the Suns. Passed from bone cancer in 2009.
December 15th, 20119:53 pm
Tn Brian-agreed. As Nike once said, “Chicks dig the long ball.”
December 15th, 20119:55 pm
Had the great pleasure of meeting Wayman Tisdale once- really cool guy, and super nice
Enjoyed the cut. You’re making me go inyto my vinyl and pull out my ‘Cats on the Coast’ album which i haven’t listened to in 10.
December 15th, 20119:56 pm
Love his pickin’ that bass. Miss his music.
December 15th, 20119:58 pm
Wow, richbrave, a reference to one of all-time great oldies “In The Summertime”. I am impressed.
Chris from the Rock, well we do have Uggs …
December 15th, 201110:01 pm
met him when he was playing basketball in Sacramento…heard him play at the NBA all-star game in Phoenix one year. He was a man of many talents.
I see you are ALREADY familiar with them. Not surprising. I just got into them a short while back.
I’m on, “Pipes Honour”, right now. Good stuff.
December 15th, 201110:04 pm
TN namesake – you could also look at the attendence when Maddux or Glavine were pitching in their primes, especially Maddux with smoltz to a lesser degree. People in Atlanta and baseball fans in general love a well pitched game. One of the best games I have ever seen in person – Glavine’s 79 pitch masterpiece versus the Mets. One of the best baseball games ever: Game 7 versus the Twins – Smoltz versus Jack Morris.
It is true that homers get a lot of attention, but small ball is fun to watch. Leadoff guy reaches base, steals second or bunted over, and a single. Contact hitting with good speed is great fun to watch. The Cards in the ’80s made a living out of it.
Trouble with the Braves the past few years is that we have had lack of power in our lineup, lack of contact hitters, lack of fundamentals (bunting, advancing the runner from 2nd with no outs, etc), and lack of speed.
You have to have one or the other if not both – power and/or contact hitters with speed

My bod goes a long-g-g-g way back ken, but my mind drives straight ahead.
December 15th, 201110:11 pm
Guys and dolls, it’s beeen four hours solid at the ‘puter playing music. Got to stretch my legs. I’ll put up BRAVES fall ball in the a.m. Be cool. Play music, and be good to yourselves. NYTOL.
brian, to me watching great pitching and just solid all around baseballl is more interesting than watching sluggers launch off bad pitching. Now watching a Chipper or Pujols work over great pitching is also fun.
December 15th, 201110:12 pm
Me too, my friend. Never quit learning and seeking new things, it keeps us young.
December 15th, 201110:13 pm
December 15th, 201110:14 pm
Have a good night, richbrave. I’ll be here for a little while and listen to your music selections.
December 15th, 201110:18 pm
I agree. Small ball can be fun when executed. The braves have lacked execution the last few years. They seem to be playing the station to station game. Leaving a lot of runners on. Not advancing runners that reach w/ 0 outs.
December 15th, 201110:21 pm
Rowdy Roddy strikes again!
December 15th, 201110:23 pm
Why don’t the Braves just make a offer to that Cuban OF and just be done with it. Don’t trade JJ or Prado Sign this guy Yoenis Cespedes use him in L.F and make Prado the back up for chipper and sign Derosa and Chavez thats Endy not Eric for a back up outfielder.
December 15th, 201110:24 pm
Why don’t the Braves just make a offer to that Cuban OF and just be done with it
because he’s asking for absurd money and a very long deal. Neither is smart business.
December 15th, 201110:35 pm
So you want Cespedes plus Derosa and Endy Chavez while keeping Prado. So that leaves Ross, Diaz, Hinske to battle for 2 bench spots. That doesn’t even include a backup SS. Plus where do you get the money. Please think through your ideas before posting.
December 15th, 201110:38 pm
Technically it only leaves Diaz and Hinske to battle for 1 bench spot- Ross being the back up catcher pretty much assures him a spot
December 15th, 201110:42 pm
VaBravesFan Lowe’s 10mil is coming off, Possible Chipper hanging it up. Bourn most likely exits
and hes gonna need it with bourne and chipper leaving.
by the way, this is one reason we need ot hang onto prado, in my opinion. he will be a very valuable piece to us if he can step into playing third after this coming season.
December 15th, 201110:45 pm
So I’m watching the NCAA national semi-finals for women’s volleyball…somehow USC was ranked #1 in the nation going into the playoffs and was given the #7 seed. And I thought the BCS rankings made no sense…
December 15th, 201110:46 pm
when you lose 2 big bats and gain one is that really an upgrade////?
December 15th, 201110:47 pm
TnBrian , you can see attendance figures for 2003 (and other years) right here:

Please think through your ideas before posting. — P’cola Brave
My god, man, there’ll be nobody left here!
December 15th, 201110:59 pm
Tom ran everyone off the blog…
ncgary, braves will have money to spend next offseason, but still not any easy one.
he will surely have to fill at least one, but probably two of the following positions: 3rd, LF, CF. those are not easy positions to fill. i think looking forward, having a versitile player like prado will be huge, because it will give wren options are far as who to sign.
I guess it’s true … Atlanta just loves its college football/NFL. Attendance during those early 2000’s averaged around the same as now. I noticed Phillie went from sh** attendance to the top of MLB. Fair weatherers
December 15th, 201111:02 pm
agree TnBrian – nothing better than watching a top hitter versus a top pitcher in a critical situation. Despite all the great pitching moments, few were better than watching Chipper in his prime taking out the Mets. Chipper sent my testosterone soaring this year with that crushing right handed HR at NYMets this year.
December 15th, 201111:04 pm
not many (if any) decent 3rd basemen available next offseason. i think we need ot keep prado for when chipper hangs it up, and ther is a pretty good chance this is the last season for him.
December 15th, 201111:12 pm
Don’t think there aren’t times that I wish I HAD that power, cabravesfan.
December 15th, 201111:13 pm
30 million came off the books this year but we still dont have any money.
December 15th, 201111:16 pm
‘Splain that one to me, Lucy sad.
sad 30 million came off the books this year but we still dont have any money.
it did? how do you figure that?
I’m sure we could come up with some way…
Where did 30 mil come off the books. I think your math is a little off.
December 15th, 201111:18 pm
Watching this, suddenly really missing playing volleyball…
Cursing like I do when I watch football…that is not good
December 15th, 201111:27 pm
I’m thinking that, sad, was another blog-victim of not thinking his thoughts, through, before posting.
“Don’t think there aren’t times that I wish I HAD that power, cabravesfan.”
cab can teach you. She’s a pro at that
December 15th, 201111:31 pm
She won’t share that secret with me. She’s probably afraid that I’ll use it on her.
You can’t use it on me. My powers only work on others
December 15th, 201111:36 pm
I wish you could reverse those powers and get a few more people on here. I can’t stay up long enough for uga-brave & Ward to come on.
December 15th, 201111:37 pm
PEOPLE! COME ON THE BLOG!!!
December 15th, 201111:40 pm
Wow! That’s a pretty powerful message, LAdy. If I wasn’t already here, I’d be here.
December 15th, 201111:41 pm
Bay Area Steve
December 15th, 201111:42 pm
Responding to powers…
December 15th, 201111:43 pm
Ahhh, you got me.
December 15th, 201111:44 pm
Look, cabravesfan! It, actually, worked on someone.
I know It usually does
December 15th, 201111:46 pm
I’ve made a grave mistake.
I thought I was buying ‘Lemonheads,’ but instead got some sort of ‘Lemonheads and friends’ variety. It blows. Not to say I’m not eating them…
Hve y’all ever been to a dollar store? Unreal what you can buy for a dollar. They had electronics… How in the heck can you manufacture, package, and ship a remote control for a $1?
December 15th, 201111:47 pm
I didn’t know lemonheads had friends…
Great stuff, M’LAdy.
However, if Dentz of Jeff321 show up, I’ll ask you to shelve your power.
December 15th, 201111:48 pm
This was my reverse power, Tom. My natural power is driving people OFF the blog
December 15th, 201111:49 pm
WARD! COME ON THE BLOG WARD!!!
What the hell is a lemonhead? Must be a west coast thing.
December 15th, 201111:50 pm
Too early for Ward, cabravesfan. He’s more of a 1:00 or so.
Really? You don’t know what lemonheads are??? You poor boy…
December 15th, 201111:52 pm
cab, pray you dont draw the falcons.
December 15th, 201111:53 pm
Not overly concerned. Home field advantage, one of the top defenses in the league…
December 15th, 201111:54 pm
Thanks for the explanation, cabravesfan. And, no, never had heard of them — seriously.
watched another team in green bay draw a little confidence.
watching another qb surrounded with talent doing the same thing.
December 15th, 201111:56 pm
I like it. uga appears and football trash-talking begins.
How ya doin’, uga-brave?
December 15th, 201111:57 pm
I will take credit for his appearance too
cab, we said the same thing last season. rodgers explained to us why they were better.
“Not overly concerned.”
Last week sure as heck’s got me concerned. Once the pass rush evaporated, our coverage issues recurred immediately. Here’s hoping next week is better. Real curious what Jaws has to say about Alex this week.
December 15th, 201111:58 pm
But I don’t think the Falcons are better.
December 15th, 201111:59 pm
Man, these things suck. But, I got like a half pound for a $1. I can’t stop. Nothing good happens when I try not to drink.
My question is not about Alex, or even the D without Pat Willis. It’s why on earth was Frank Gore on the sideline and the team in shotgun on 3rd and 1 and again on 4th and 1 with the game on the line?
December 16th, 201112:00 am
was at the game tonight. left midway through the 3rd quarter.
if i had to pick my opponent it would me the niner’s.
December 16th, 201112:01 am
cab’s all talk ’til the game begins. Then she’s swearin’ like a sailor, and worried The Dennis Erickson Era is back. All Niner fans have been conditioned to think this way…
I will take credit for his appearance too
I’ll have to give you that one, LAdy, being he’s here before schedule.
December 16th, 201112:03 am
I hear ya, cab. Preachin’ to the choir.
Though, I wasn’t as bothered by that series as most. We lost the game in a whole lot of ways…
did we sign Pooholes yet?
December 16th, 201112:04 am
Not really- I just believe my team can and should win every game.
uga-brave, if I were you I’d be more concerned about the Giants, who is your current first round opponent. In New York. Outside.
I hope the Braves trade Charles Barkley. Now he is the man. I know I haven’t been around lately, but thought I would put my 2 cents worth in. Have some great holidays all. Don’t drink too much egg nog. teeeeeeheeeee
I hope we play ya, uga. We’ll have to come up with a little gentleman’s wager (or whatever they call such a wager even when it ain’t between gentleman).
It’s not the series overall that bothered me. it was that particular 2 plays that just made no sense.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
