why didnt you do that for the numbers thru august 21st? looks like youre afraid to post ugly numbers from your boy.
Huh? I did post the numbers through August. One of us has a reading comprehension problem (not me) and is trying really hard to make the other angry (again, not me) about an issue that really affects neither in any way, shape, or form and one that, funny enough, one of us (me) really doesn’t care all that much about despite what the other (you) thinks.
I’m not going to go through all of baseball-reference dot com and find numbers for every player who hit a slump during the season. You can do that. Or you can not. No skin off my sack either way.

PTown – They are looking for someone who can play center, too and they have said they will not make deals for chronically injured players – which is exactly what Beltran is. Yes, he can hit – WHEN He’s actually playing – which hasn’t been al that much since 08.

There isn’t a single guy out there that is available that can make this team substantially better in 2012 AND give the team a legit chance to win the division which I am surprised hasn’t been mentioned BUT is desperately needed now w/ the new added Wild Card rule.

PTown – Well……………I’m 60 and my center of balance changed 100 pounds ago. Martin would definitely be better at short than I would – likely so would Chipper. And both could hit much better than I can.
Bet neither of them can paint as well as I do, though.

thats my point. you post the good numbers, and when the bad number got brought up, you wouldnt post them. you just posted a link to the website. yes, it IS you that has the reading comprehension problem.
i asked specifically for you to post numbers from Adam Jones from august 22 thru the end of the year. you responded with a link. “why didnt you do that with the number up til august 21st?” i asked. not that hard to follow.
since you wont do it, adam jones hit .180/.227/.315 from august 22nd till the end of the year. this is the player you are telling us is “heading in the right direction”.
if you dont care about it, stop touting adam jones, and ill top slamming him.

PTown – And I would be fine with keeping them both and going cheap in LF when Martin is at third.
I just don’t see this as a desperate situation -especially with the added WC tream – which last year, had it been around, would have been the Braves.
WE missed the playoffs by a singe game after an epic collapse – likely never to be repeated. We have essentially the same team with every expectation of Prado and Heyward improvingm their performances and Lowe gone. We have the deepest rotation in most of baseball and the best pen.
Major changes are only indicated because so many are so upset over the collapse.

No you didn’t. You said “post the numbers. lets see em” as a follow up to my post in which I said “every player hits a slump at some point in the season”. Those quotes aren’t 100% accurate as I don’t care enough to hit the “9″ and go back and copy/paste, but they’re close enough.
So, I post about other players going into slumps, you post requesting stats, I decline as I’m not your monkey and would rather you look up stats on your own, and you follow that up stating that I’m ducking your question.
Whether you indeed have a reading comprehension problem or simply missed it due to human error, I hope that this explanation suffices as to why I did not post any stats in response to your demands.
That and I really, truly don’t care whether the Braves get Jones or not. He’s a player who came up yesterday who I responded well towards. Prior to yesterday I had not ever mentioned Adam Jones in a single blog post. Not once in my 2+ years or however long I’ve been on the blog. That’s probably why your attempts to rile me up about “my boy” are not having the desired effect.

Alright, seems I need to educate some “fans” here. A majority of baseball players that make it to the MLB rosters as second basemen are converted shortstops. Martin Prado is a converted shortstop. He played shortstop in Venezuela. He moved around the diamond his first few years. He played every infield position outside of pitcher and catcher. He also played both corner outfield spots. Given his versatility, you can honestly sit there and tell me that he can’t play the position that he was playing when the Braves signed him? You obviously never played baseball if you can say he forgot how to play a position.

Many ML baseball players also likely played QB in high school too. Doesn’t mean I want them doing it for my team.
There is a big difference between being “able” to do it, and actually doing it well for a contending team

Prado played shortstop 8 games in the minors – the last three being in 08. If he were a reasonable option to play shortstop, then the Braves would have played him there in the past and would consider him for that position now. They aren’t.

Joey, a legitimate shortstop is the move here, reasonably speaking, if the Braves believe in Pastornicky enough, then start him, if not then go get a proven vet , Ronny Cedeno, Robert Andino, etal…hell right now Wren may decide to go get Julio Lugo back, who knows, but I can tell you Prado will not be the shortstop, he cannot field the position, lack of range you know realistic standards that apply to the position. sort of like hiring a Chef, and asking him to run the fry vat at mickey dees….

Apologies for the delayed answer… I had to step away from the blogage to do some work.
DAP, I can say Adam Jones would be better defensive LF than Martin Prado because I was blessed with eyes and after decades of watching baseball, I know the difference in a good OF’er and a good infielder learning to play the OF. Simply stated, I can say it for the same reason I can say that Selma Hayak is prettier than Rosanne Barr — the eye test.
Martin could probably learn to be a good defensive LF, but for now he is at best average. And, with likely no more than this season in LF, he will not be given the opportunity to develop into a good LF. He is so good in the infield, he will not be used in MLB as an OF for long enough to get the experience required to be a good LF.
I can also say that Martin is a better infielder than Adam Jones – reverse logic from above.
Mercy, God gave a brain and I hope eyes, so use them!

I just believe the Braves are a better team with Prado as a member than without. I like how everybody thinks Prado’s abilities are stuck at either second base or left field. I offered a suggestion. Now I have a bunch of “thumbs down” youtube watchers throwing up objections while not offering any solutions. This is boring me.

You should probably check your stats before posting comments like this. Martin has played 52 games at first base in the majors, all since 2008. Which is 50 more than he has played at short in the majors, none since 2008.

Joey M – Really good teams don’t often trade really good players (unless they have a plethora of options at one position). Teams like Baltimore, Houston, and KC are more likely to trade talent for prospects, or less expensive talent. This is why rosters on teams like Baltimore are srutinized (probably spelled wrong).
