Just read on ESPN.com Hanley Ramirez informs Marlins today that he’s not moving to third base. Funny.

Then he may be moving “somewhere” else.

It’s hard to understand the people who say they are done with the Braves continuing to “waste” their own time on a Braves blog.

BravesfaninWisc:

That’s right the Malins are going to make up the 17 games they finished behind the Braves last year because they signed Heath Bell (do you honestly prefer him over Kimbrel?) and Jose Reyes (something that I predict they will regret sooner rather than later).. Are you serious?

May I refresh your recollection and point out that the Braves did not have JJ or Hanson available last September and the Marlins have so far done nothing to fix their greatest need–starting pitching. I don’t know how long you have been a Braves fan, but I have been one for 50 years and can tell you about all those years when the Braves had the best offense in the league and finished 4th or worse because they lacked the key component for successful baseball–pitching and especailly starting pitching.

If you can get over your panic attack long enough you might notice that the Braves have not only strong starting pitching but one of, if not the best, bullpen in major league baseball. Finally, last I checked this is December 6th, not March 31st.

I’m a 102 year old Cubs fan and was born a year too late to see our last World Series Championship but I still wear my Cubbies gear into other teams stadiums and try to aggravate them. I know I’m a moron for following a team that has won nothing in over a century but isn’t that part of bring a “fan?” Hell, I realize I could have just as well been born and raised a yankee fan and have been able to shoot my mouth off with glee about my trams dominance, but it does not work that way. The first team I follow as a kid –undoubtedly due to geographic location–is the team I MUST cheer for all my life. Unless of course I want to be labeled a “bad fan” Can’t have that.

In the words of that idiot’s grandfather-”Let’s get some runs”

Here’s something the Braves, Dawgs, Falcons, and Jackets all have in common. They aren’t bad or terrible teams. They’re not elite or great either. And I see no sense of urgency from any of them during their seasons.

Has anyone ever calculated the “average” amount of time spent in here last year by Blog regulars. I came here every day to read the “USUALLY” very intelligent and witty posts , but I could never spend the time that many did on this site. I’m wondering if there will be any residual effect on participation when one takes into account the complete blow up. If that was not enough to make many say “I ain’t doing that again”, well, I can only say to all you Gunga Dins that you are a far better man than me.

If the Marlins get Pujols the Braves are going to be in trouble, they can easily slip to the 3 best team in the division. But I think they would be ok with that they love just being mediocre.

Well all I gotta say is if the Braves don’t make any moves these message boards are gonna light up with angry fans………come to think of it there gonna light anyways because we choked a 10.5 game lead. Also with Kimbrel and Venters getting tired at the end of the season we need more bull-pen depth. Sign Sherrill and 2 more arms.

The Braves do this every year. They wait around to buy cheap and end up with the dregs. They will trade Juirjens and Prado and end up with nothing except a 1 year player. They never want to pay. Bunch of cheapos.

Maybe Wren could pull off a trade for Florida’s SS now that he’s unhappy with having to move to 3rd base? It would be expensive, but likely profitable (e.g., playoffs).

Teams are goin’ bonkers (Miami & Chi-sox). The MLB net wondering why we got rid of Lowe and (willing to trade) JJ. To us Braves fans it seems much clearer, but I guess you have to be a fan to understand the stock we have with Julio, Minor, Beachy, etc.. They contradicted themselves earlier by saying we would be mismanaging if we didn’t get rid of some of the pitching we have. Actually, it hangs on a standard amount, we have our IDEAL and our back up, if Hudson is delayed, JJ is traded and Tommy Hanson’s shoulder is still ailing him. Indeed we are lacking in offense in outfield if Heyward remains to struggle, but I like the team going forward. As for Miami, I think it’ll be great for the division and challenging, but I don’t think it should change our goals and strategies. I still feel their financing is FISHY, and I’d still rather be a BRAVE than a Marlin…even NOW.

Florida to tried to do better moves that the atlanta braves and proof this than in the two times that they have visited the series world are 2 – 0 = 2 ws title / the opposite of the braves.

now florida is almost already to sign Albert pujols the best and the Braves ahh if waiting he tells wren that C.J.WILSON and BUERHLE sign to then switch to JURRJENS ,friend haha are lost with an organization so since the braves fell into the hands of a cooporacion we have miserable. We do not move and will not be able to compete until that we do not have an owner that will help us and like win. do not expect moved some, let’s see the same year passed the same. or worse.

Aint it about time that 1 of you positive peteys tells to have faith and to trust Wren and Gonzalez? (Crickets Chirping) And a true “fan” doesn’t just support their team no matter what (Chicago Cubs). They sometimes call out their teams when they underperform (Red Sox, Yankees, Phillies and Cardnials). And the MAJORITY of Braves fans demand a move to acquire a bat and to show a better effort and if we choke a big lead like that again the F GON and Wren must go!!!!!!!!!!! Remember we choked a 10.5 GAME LEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trade Martin Prado and Jair Jurrjens to Texas for Michael Young and Jake Skole (CF – Minor Leage – Single A). Young is popular in Texas, but will be 35 in 2012. He has played 2nd, 3rd and SS; he would probably be able to figure out left field and start there. Still has a solid bat. Would be a strong back-up for Tyler Pastornicky at SS and Chipper Jones at 3rd if needed. Could be starter at 3rd in 2013 when Jones retires. Skole is from Atlanta and is rated as a descent outfield prospect with speed and he can hit for extra bases.

Thanks for your insightful comments nelson. You are adding some great ideas for Frank Wren to consider. I especially like the JJ for Bautista trade recommendation. I dont see why the Jays wouldn’t give up an MVP for JJ straight up. Keep your comments coming…

I still think we could do a JJ for BJ Upton deal. This would add the bat we need in our line up. Plus having 2 guys capable of 30 plus SB, which one is 50 plus Sb. This deal could make Atlanta scary on offense.

It would be hard press to drop a double or even a tripple when you have Upton, Bourne, and Heyward patrolling the OF.

Im a huge fan of the deal. leave Prado playing 3rd and SS until Pastornicky is ready. Prado can play anywhere.

Seattle – what about Chipper at 3B?

Seattle Braves

December 6th, 2011
8:15 pm

Chipper at 70% is still better than 80% of the league.

With that said, he will only play 120 games. Prado can play SS and platoon 3rd and LF. Chipper goes down we need a Prado like player to take over….

Acquiring Michael Young from the Rangers is the best move Wren could possibly make. Young is versatile in the field (SS,3B,1B).and still has a good bat and is good in the clutch. Also a stand up guy in the clubhouse.

Forget about 2012 and concentrate on 2013 when we will have lots of available cash and young talent, trade McCann for a young power hitting outfielder and go with this lineup for 2012:

1. Bourn CF
2. Constanza RF
3. Outfielder from McCann Trade LF
4. Uggla 2B
5. Freeman 1B
6. Terdoslavich 3B
7. Pastronicky SS
8. Bethancourt C
9. Pitcher

Bench: Chipper, Prado, The Disel, Diaz, Wilson, Ross

Hang on to all pitchers and trade Heyward for two prospects.

This organization is operating under a system that never seems to have a sense of urgency. They have since the 90’s. That is why the product on the field is mediocre at best. They still live in the 90’s and act as if they are still THE organization in baseball. Same thing next year except they won’t even be in it.

December 7th, 2011

1) I think someone should start a website petitioning Mark Cuban buy the Braves… Maybe with enough signatures, he’ll change his mind

2) I think realistic scenario 3 team trade: braves get will myers, drew stubbs/jay Bruce; kc get yonder alonso, prado; reds get jurrjens and royals pitching prospect not named Montgomery

So did Handley Ramirez really say publicly that he would refuse to move to third base? If he did, then he’s in serious trouble! He’s not the shortstop that Reyes is and more importantly he’s already angered the Marlins and his teammates once before. He’s such a headcase that frankly I don’t want him on the Braves roster at all.

It is possible for someone to be such a clubhouse cancer that no amount of talent will keep you on a roster! Ramirez needs to shut up and move the third base and work to win a pennant, which if the Marlins can sign Pujols, they could do.

Have been watching the news from Braves sources and all that I am hearing is negativity.-eg How long is Bourne going to be a Brave–is Chipper going to play much and two of his backups are almost gone–Conrad not tendered and Prado on the trading block–our allstar Jurjens also on the trading block–we have only an untested rookie as our shortstop–will Heyward bounce back or be bundled up to play somewhere else (a la Francoeur) our allstar catcher is wondering if he can still hit and two of our top pitchers are coming off injuries or medical treatment (Hudson & Hanson) my God Mr Wren please throw us a bone of hope please do something to change this negative energy or else 2012 will start with the same glooy outlook as 2011 ended DO SOMETHING

Why didn’t the Braves try to acquire Carlos Quentin? The Padres got him for two minor leaguers. Seems cheap enough…..and he only made $5M last year. When healthy, this guy can rake it! And he’s only 29! He could have been a long term solution in LF for years to come, and could have given us the flexibility we need to allow Prado to play 3B (because we all know Chipper can’t stay healthly all season!…)He also has a strong work ethic, and loves the game. He would be a great example in our locker room. Plus, the Braves aren’t sold on the fact that Heyward will return to his form from two years ago…..and he was banged up all of last year.
