Diory is a huge loss. I figured they’d extend him ong term as Chipper’s future repllacement. I knew somebody would gobble him up otherwise. Shame on Wren.
Speaking of, I’m not looking forward to another set of Fredi’s interviews next season. Seriously he needs to knock it off with the “yeah, ya know what” stuff. All reporters should yell at the same time “WHAT”
1. Prado benefits from hitting behind Bourn for a full season to the tune of a .310+ average with 50 doubles and 120 runs scored.

RE: Stephen King and the Dark Tower series…”4.5″ is not released yet, Feb. ‘12 or Mar. The Wind Through the Keyhole is what I believe it will be called.
“It’s a foregone conclusion that the Braves will finish 4th next season.”
If that’s for the entire mlb you might be right. If that’s for the NL East you might be the kid on the bus who just happens to lick the window every day.
You know what I want, Peter Bourjoss and Erick Aybar. Angels have a few logjams on their mlb team. They have 5 outfielders, Vernon Wells, Torii Hunter, Bobby Abreu, Peter Bourjos, and Mike Trout. 4 out of 5 are CF although Hunter and Wells are old and are now corner outfielders. Trout is better than Bourjos, but Bourjos can flat out fly and play quality D.
Ideally they would like to keep Bourjos and Trout and just keep one of Abreu, Wells, and Hunter. The best of those 3 is Hunter but since he is signed until this year and Wells is under contract they are obligated to keep Wells and try to trade Abreu and Hunter.
Since both of those guys are old, making a lot of money and have a no trade clause in Hunter’s case, it would be very tough to get some quality in return.
So since Trout is a top prospect who is as untouchable as they get, that leaves Bourjos. He is exactly the kind of guy the Braves need in case Bourn leaves(which I have no doubt he will). He is one of the few guys in baseball that might actually be a better defender than Bourn in CF, and Bourn as we know is a gold glove CF in his prime.
Now the other guy is Erick Aybar who just won a gold glove, and since he is not known for his bat, that gold glove means he truly is pretty good.
Now what would it take to get two excellent speedy defenders that can handle the bat and play SS and CF two essential positions. One of them not even in arbitration that being Bourjos, and the other in his contract year.
Martin Prado, and Jair Jurrjens for Peter Bourjos, Erick Aybar, and Bobby Abreu + 4.2 million.
Now money on this deal would be about even, Braves are sending approximately 9.5 million, and the Angels are sending 13.7 million – the 4.2 million= 9.5 million.
After that, sign Jerry Hairston jr.

Wren on Prado trade rumors: “Martin Prado is a solid player and a part of our team for almost five years. We’re not out looking to trade good players.”
OK, here is (hopefully) a clearer version of what Wren was saying, scoffing at some trade rumors involving Braves: “I’ve actively [reports say] shopped players this fall [when actually] I haven’t mentioned their names.”
I’ve always wanted to read The Dark Tower series, just never got around to it. Are they westerns, horror, or both? King’s new book on a JFK what-if is getting very good reviews and sounds interesting.
If Wren says “We’re not out looking to trade good players.” re:Prado, is he saying Jurrjens is not good? I certainly hope not.
N8: Agreed on American Horror Story. I eagerly await every episode, but I have a difficult time imagining how they could sustain it without changing things up by going to a different house with a different family, etc. If they do that, I could see it happening.
—————
Great episode this week. If the same family stays in the house I think they could run with the anti-christ baby storyline if the baby is born, lives in the house and interacts with ghost with some evil motive being the anti-christ and all… good show however long it stays on tv for.
I am going to suck it up and watch the Pac-12 title “game” all the while being bitter that I will be forced to watch 2 teams we beat by a combined 53 points play for the first conference championship…granted we beat one team by 3 and the other by 50, but still…
N8: Connie Britton’s first big role was Spin City, a comedy starring Michael J. Fox. She was sensational as the wife of the outstanding Kyle Chandler in Friday Night Lights (one of my all-time favorite shows), and now with her role in American Horror Story, she is doing great in a completely different role. 3 co-starring roles in 3 totally different shows equals an excellent actress in my book. Plus she has been in numerous other shows along the way, including 24, but these are the highlights.
nolie: Prime Suspect is great, too, but I keep reading it is about to be cancelled due to low ratings. I hope not, it’s a quality show.
Yeah, don’t trade the good players. Wait, I thought you had to give to receive? Sorry, just a weird comment by Wren imo. Why would you say you’re not lookig to trade good players? How will it make the guy you do trade feel? Like sh** if he ever got wind of those comments I would imagine.
They might trade Beachy or Delgado. I am pretty sure it’ll be a pitcher, right? Who knows, Bourn could also be traded and maybe in a package with a Beachy or Delgado. Minor could is also a canidate imo.
We apparently have a great guy coming in, but I really don’t think Barkley has made any decisions yet. But Woods and Lee are both back, and as long as they are catching balls, don’t think it matters much who is throwing to them
Time to cook dinner – I will try and do so quickly so as not to miss the fascinating back and forth comments which are coming more quickly than my inadequate ability to refresh can keep up with…
Maybe Wren means exactly what he says and nolie is right. He could simply hang on to all the decent ones and … wait, why would any other team want our garbage? I see no reasoning here.
Let me help you out – what he is saying is that he is not trying to get rid of people for the sake of getting rid of them, but he is willing to make a trade if it helps the team…
“Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth?”
Chris Tucker has his moments. I mean, if you’ve ever smoked a little weed. But, the way some of y’all treat quotes from execs as though they were gospel…
See a GM quoted on a trade, think politician. Do you know what the meaning of ‘is’ is?
Though, I don’t think I’ve forgiven him for that ’smarter than 99% of us’ comment. I’m not sayin’ it ain’t true, I’m just sayin’ it hurt my heart, a little bit…
TnBrian – to interpret the remarks the way you did paints Wren as a complete moron. If you choose to view him in that manner, that is certainly your right. And I apologize that after you continually revisited the same question several times and I had the temerity to respond. The idea that you refer to me as ignorant is also your right – it does say something about your ability to judge others on the blog, I am afraid…
Bay Area Steve, well it’s like Venice is attacking me without ever knowing who I even am. Judging, like he obviously is, through some silly blog is an ignorant thing to do. I’ve been guilty of this I’ll admit, but I’d like to think I’ve improved on this.
Oregon is up 35-14 and they go for 2 a lot (although they have not yet tonight). Just something they have done for a few seasons. Like going for it on 4th down more than most teams.
they might trade some lower level MiLB players but not the top 5 or so is what I meant Brian.
Big limb or not BAS, I’ve said several times that I believe the odds of JJ or Prado going anywhere are pretty low, but several here do seem to think it is a given

My extremely optimistic predictions for 2012.
1. Prado benefits from hitting behind Bourn for a full season to the tune of a .310+ average with 50 doubles and 120 runs scored.
2. Heyward will put up a monster spring (circa Andruw 2005), and rightfully assume the #3 spot in the lineup. He will then hit .270 with 30+ doubles, 30+ homers and 100+ RBI
3. With Prado and Heyward performing well, Uggla, Freeman, Chipper and McCann all have solid seasons hitting 4-7.

You got anyone behind Barkley? Saw a quick interview, and I sure got the impression that guy is out…

We apparently have a great guy coming in, but I really don’t think Barkley has made any decisions yet. But Woods and Lee are both back, and as long as they are catching balls, don’t think it matters much who is throwing to them

Define somebody on the team that isn’t “decent” that they could trade, noie. Why would another team want a non-decent player from us?

Time to cook dinner – I will try and do so quickly so as not to miss the fascinating back and forth comments which are coming more quickly than my inadequate ability to refresh can keep up with…

Maybe Wren means exactly what he says and nolie is right. He could simply hang on to all the decent ones and … wait, why would any other team want our garbage? I see no reasoning here.

We’re not out looking to trade good players
Let me help you out – what he is saying is that he is not trying to get rid of people for the sake of getting rid of them, but he is willing to make a trade if it helps the team…
(not really that complicated)…

So how many points is Oregon’s lead now? And did they feel the need to add a 2-point conversion?

Oregon is up 35-14 and they go for 2 a lot (although they have not yet tonight). Just something they have done for a few seasons. Like going for it on 4th down more than most teams.

they might trade some lower level MiLB players but not the top 5 or so is what I meant Brian.
Big limb or not BAS, I’ve said several times that I believe the odds of JJ or Prado going anywhere are pretty low, but several here do seem to think it is a given
