we lost Diory Hernandez to the Astros
22 – 140… season’s over man! Ballgame! Tip o’ the cap! We’re done! Finished!
December 2nd, 20115:20 pm
Sorry – That was David Gibbins – not Giddings. Must be getting low blood sugar.
yup a number of interesting twists so far. not sure where it is headed right now
when it first came out I wondered why they didn’t play did-he, didn’t-he, for a few episodes. turns out not really to have been necessary
Diory is a huge loss. I figured they’d extend him ong term as Chipper’s future repllacement. I knew somebody would gobble him up otherwise. Shame on Wren.
December 2nd, 20115:23 pm
Diory is a huge loss
December 2nd, 20115:26 pm
Who are the Braves going to find who can put up Diory-like numbers of.157/.195/.260?
Get Conrad on the phone!
December 2nd, 20115:28 pm
Yeah you have to tip your cap.
Speaking of, I’m not looking forward to another set of Fredi’s interviews next season. Seriously he needs to knock it off with the “yeah, ya know what” stuff. All reporters should yell at the same time “WHAT”
December 2nd, 20115:30 pm
Conrad is probably gone too Murph. Double switches for Christmas for us Braves fans. Wren is the Grinch.
December 2nd, 20115:36 pm
Nova Scotia Steve
December 2nd, 20115:37 pm
Well….I made it to Nova Scotia from the Yukon….still no Braves news I see other than Diory’s departure lol
December 2nd, 20115:38 pm
My extremely optimistic predictions for 2012.
1. Prado benefits from hitting behind Bourn for a full season to the tune of a .310+ average with 50 doubles and 120 runs scored.
2. Heyward will put up a monster spring (circa Andruw 2005), and rightfully assume the #3 spot in the lineup. He will then hit .270 with 30+ doubles, 30+ homers and 100+ RBI
3. With Prado and Heyward performing well, Uggla, Freeman, Chipper and McCann all have solid seasons hitting 4-7.
December 2nd, 20115:47 pm
Lemke – wouldn’t that be something. I just hope we have a better all around year…offensively the last two or three season have been the most frustrating I have ever watched and I have been a braves fan for almost 18 years
December 2nd, 20115:52 pm
For those whose memories stretch back a bit:
Alan Sues, an actor whose loud, clownish comedic style made him an invaluable cast member on “Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In,” one of the top-rated shows on television in the late 1960s, died on Thursday at his home in Los Angeles. He was 85.

I hope it was an impression but the daily Ward posts may be taking control over my mind like an infestation with no way to stop it…must do something to stop…too late…a little humor…peace…help!

Remember in Flash Gordon when Flash had to stick his hand inside that big hollow stump and play chicken with the crazy green scorpion bug thing? The guy before him got stung and told Baron to kill him… he’d rather die than slowly slip into painful madness as the venom ate away his brain.
Check the credits… the green scorpion bug thing was named Ward.
December 2nd, 20116:04 pm
whats more dangerous. deers or ward?
December 2nd, 20116:08 pm
we had a furry lil’ bunny in our yard today. He is soooo cute

December 2nd, 20116:12 pm
Lemke’s Knuckler Uggla, Freeman, Chipper and McCann all have solid seasons hitting 4-7.
Why should BMac bat 7th…?
December 2nd, 20116:14 pm
My wife caught me with my girlfriend.
December 2nd, 20116:16 pm
I kept warnin’ ya Stanley

Deer are more dangerous due to their level of education.
December 2nd, 20116:26 pm
AT – I read your post. Great news brother. Keep us posted.
Stanley – What did you expect when are seeing her mother?
McFann – I’ll take 7th..if he is raking! By the way, he won’t be hitting that low.
Fake Ward – There are no fake Wards. Only different versions of him. “I always tell you a version of the truth.”

It’s a foregone conclusion that the Braves will finish 4th next season.
Good evening y’all
Shame UCLA is playing tonight, it should have been USC, then it would be a ballgame.
December 2nd, 20116:40 pm
Speaking of books, KILL ALEX CROSS is very good.
“It’s a foregone conclusion that the Braves will finish 4th next season.”
If that’s for the entire mlb you might be right. If that’s for the NL East you might be the kid on the bus who just happens to lick the window every day.
December 2nd, 20116:41 pm
Shame UCLA is playing tonight, it should have been USC, then it would be a ballgame.
I agree Not many conference “championship” games where the spread is 31 points…
December 2nd, 20116:44 pm
Yup cab, shame this team has to pay fpr something PETE CARROLL did.
God this a slow offseason…….
You know what I want, Peter Bourjoss and Erick Aybar. Angels have a few logjams on their mlb team. They have 5 outfielders, Vernon Wells, Torii Hunter, Bobby Abreu, Peter Bourjos, and Mike Trout. 4 out of 5 are CF although Hunter and Wells are old and are now corner outfielders. Trout is better than Bourjos, but Bourjos can flat out fly and play quality D.
Ideally they would like to keep Bourjos and Trout and just keep one of Abreu, Wells, and Hunter. The best of those 3 is Hunter but since he is signed until this year and Wells is under contract they are obligated to keep Wells and try to trade Abreu and Hunter.
Since both of those guys are old, making a lot of money and have a no trade clause in Hunter’s case, it would be very tough to get some quality in return.
So since Trout is a top prospect who is as untouchable as they get, that leaves Bourjos. He is exactly the kind of guy the Braves need in case Bourn leaves(which I have no doubt he will). He is one of the few guys in baseball that might actually be a better defender than Bourn in CF, and Bourn as we know is a gold glove CF in his prime.
Now the other guy is Erick Aybar who just won a gold glove, and since he is not known for his bat, that gold glove means he truly is pretty good.
Now what would it take to get two excellent speedy defenders that can handle the bat and play SS and CF two essential positions. One of them not even in arbitration that being Bourjos, and the other in his contract year.
Martin Prado, and Jair Jurrjens for Peter Bourjos, Erick Aybar, and Bobby Abreu + 4.2 million.
Now money on this deal would be about even, Braves are sending approximately 9.5 million, and the Angels are sending 13.7 million – the 4.2 million= 9.5 million.
After that, sign Jerry Hairston jr.

It’s not quite “Call me Ishmael.”, but it’s a pretty darn good opening line, at that.
“I kill with my heart”, Ease. Thanks for that note on the other book. Bat might be ready for it, right about then, having just started the suckers, LOL.
December 2nd, 20116:56 pm
Jimmy I’ll take 7th..if he is raking!
Yeah, me, too—I was kinda just being a troublemaker… I don’t care where he bats as long as it’s no higher than 4th…
By the way, he won’t be hitting that low.
Yeah, I highly doubt Fredi would bat him 7th—he’s too infatuated with batting him 3rd…
December 2nd, 20116:57 pm
Wasn’t Carroll. Wasn’t anyone at the school. Was the parents of one of their players.
DOB Tweet: GM Wren on bogusness of some rumors involving #Braves: “I’ve actively shopped players this fall that I haven’t mentioned their names.”
Holy cr**, GM…
December 2nd, 20116:58 pm
Or…is he making a joke there…?
December 2nd, 20117:04 pm
Bye bye BMac is what I take from that tweet… or possibly Beachy.
December 2nd, 20117:06 pm
Wren on Prado trade rumors: “Martin Prado is a solid player and a part of our team for almost five years. We’re not out looking to trade good players.”
December 2nd, 20117:07 pm
Any rumors about the Braves today? Or the usual stuff?
December 2nd, 20117:08 pm
McFann, he means some names have come up in media reports that he has not discussed with any team.
I adore Peter Moylan, but this is a hysterical reply from Nickelback (!).
December 2nd, 20117:11 pm
So do ’solid’ and ‘good’ mean the same thing?
Oh man, Nickelback just slapped Moylan upside the head… ouch!
December 2nd, 20117:13 pm
OK, here is (hopefully) a clearer version of what Wren was saying, scoffing at some trade rumors involving Braves: “I’ve actively [reports say] shopped players this fall [when actually] I haven’t mentioned their names.”
December 2nd, 20117:17 pm
Haha, thanks, CB and DOB! I overreacted…you know, I have that…
December 2nd, 20117:18 pm
Murph Bye bye BMac is what I take from that tweet… or possibly Beachy.…Or both.
Don’t. Even. Kid.
December 2nd, 20117:42 pm
I’ve always wanted to read The Dark Tower series, just never got around to it. Are they westerns, horror, or both? King’s new book on a JFK what-if is getting very good reviews and sounds interesting.
If Wren says “We’re not out looking to trade good players.” re:Prado, is he saying Jurrjens is not good? I certainly hope not.
December 2nd, 20117:45 pm
neither Prado nor JJ are going anywhere
December 2nd, 20117:50 pm
N8: Agreed on American Horror Story. I eagerly await every episode, but I have a difficult time imagining how they could sustain it without changing things up by going to a different house with a different family, etc. If they do that, I could see it happening.
Great episode this week. If the same family stays in the house I think they could run with the anti-christ baby storyline if the baby is born, lives in the house and interacts with ghost with some evil motive being the anti-christ and all… good show however long it stays on tv for.
December 2nd, 20117:55 pm
Anybody seen Prime Suspect ?
December 2nd, 20118:02 pm
I am going to suck it up and watch the Pac-12 title “game” all the while being bitter that I will be forced to watch 2 teams we beat by a combined 53 points play for the first conference championship…granted we beat one team by 3 and the other by 50, but still…
December 2nd, 20118:08 pm
I love how the TV guys are pretending ucla is actually good.
December 2nd, 20118:11 pm
Did I make everyone leave? Sorry. Guess I will just keep commenting on this game…
December 2nd, 20118:13 pm
I can always do a running commentary of it. I know you all want to know
December 2nd, 20118:14 pm
Elijah Kelley is singing the National Anthem. I don’t know who he is
ucla’s new new uniforms are even worse than their old new uniforms
December 2nd, 20118:17 pm
more damn pointyball??? :evil”
December 2nd, 20118:18 pm
Just trying to get someone to talk to me!
N8: Connie Britton’s first big role was Spin City, a comedy starring Michael J. Fox. She was sensational as the wife of the outstanding Kyle Chandler in Friday Night Lights (one of my all-time favorite shows), and now with her role in American Horror Story, she is doing great in a completely different role. 3 co-starring roles in 3 totally different shows equals an excellent actress in my book. Plus she has been in numerous other shows along the way, including 24, but these are the highlights.
nolie: Prime Suspect is great, too, but I keep reading it is about to be cancelled due to low ratings. I hope not, it’s a quality show.
December 2nd, 20118:23 pm
Second play from scrimmage…ucla fumbles on their own 39 and Oregon recovers
December 2nd, 20118:25 pm
And Oregon scores on a 30 yard run up the middle…
December 2nd, 20118:28 pm
December 2nd, 2011
And Oregon scores on a 30 yard run up the middle…”
I can’t resist saying this – Game over! (Over course in this case it’s almost certainly actually true!)
cab, I’m trying, but nobody is talking to me, either.
December 2nd, 20118:33 pm
Is Troy Aikman a Jr. or Sr.?
December 2nd, 20118:37 pm
Yeah, don’t trade the good players. Wait, I thought you had to give to receive? Sorry, just a weird comment by Wren imo. Why would you say you’re not lookig to trade good players? How will it make the guy you do trade feel? Like sh** if he ever got wind of those comments I would imagine.
December 2nd, 20118:44 pm
They might trade Beachy or Delgado. I am pretty sure it’ll be a pitcher, right? Who knows, Bourn could also be traded and maybe in a package with a Beachy or Delgado. Minor could is also a canidate imo.
December 2nd, 20118:45 pm
I don’t think they trade anybody decent unless just the right deal comes along
December 2nd, 20118:51 pm
Moving vans on alert! Prado enjoy Colorado… JJ enjoy LA
Bay Area Steve
December 2nd, 20118:58 pm
“I don’t think they trade anybody decent unless just the right deal comes along”
Damn, that’s the biggest limb I’ve ever seen…
December 2nd, 20118:59 pm
Uh, Maria Bello. ‘Nuff said. And, I will shoot the messenger, ken…
December 2nd, 20119:02 pm
12 minutes, 3 turnovers. Nice
December 2nd, 20119:04 pm
I have never seen a team bite so badly on a ball fake option like ucla has twice already…
SC/Stanford, right now. Who wins?
December 2nd, 20119:05 pm
Right now? USC. Got better and better as the season went on and played their best ball in the last few weeks of the season
December 2nd, 20119:06 pm
Wow. Oregon receiver had NOBODY within 10 yards of him in the end zone…ucla didn’t have a player deeper than the 3…
December 2nd, 20119:07 pm
You got anyone behind Barkley? Saw a quick interview, and I sure got the impression that guy is out…
December 2nd, 20119:09 pm
We apparently have a great guy coming in, but I really don’t think Barkley has made any decisions yet. But Woods and Lee are both back, and as long as they are catching balls, don’t think it matters much who is throwing to them
December 2nd, 20119:21 pm
Define somebody on the team that isn’t “decent” that they could trade, noie. Why would another team want a non-decent player from us?
December 2nd, 20119:22 pm
Time to cook dinner – I will try and do so quickly so as not to miss the fascinating back and forth comments which are coming more quickly than my inadequate ability to refresh can keep up with…
December 2nd, 20119:23 pm
Maybe Wren means exactly what he says and nolie is right. He could simply hang on to all the decent ones and … wait, why would any other team want our garbage? I see no reasoning here.
December 2nd, 20119:27 pm
We’re not out looking to trade good players
Let me help you out – what he is saying is that he is not trying to get rid of people for the sake of getting rid of them, but he is willing to make a trade if it helps the team…
(not really that complicated)…
December 2nd, 20119:33 pm
I wonder what Wren will have up his sleeve.
December 2nd, 20119:34 pm
Venice, it could actually be taken either way. There’s no sense on being a smart ass either. You ignorant ass
“Do you understand the words coming out of my mouth?”
Chris Tucker has his moments. I mean, if you’ve ever smoked a little weed. But, the way some of y’all treat quotes from execs as though they were gospel…
See a GM quoted on a trade, think politician. Do you know what the meaning of ‘is’ is?
December 2nd, 20119:36 pm
VJ’s a lot of things (as are we all), but I’m kinda certain ignorant ain’t one of ‘em…
What, is cabravesfan next to Venice as he “shows up” another blogger and they bump fists?
Joking cab, you’re cool.
“We’re not out looking to trade good players.”
But, of course, sometimes stuff happens…
December 2nd, 20119:37 pm
Though, I don’t think I’ve forgiven him for that ’smarter than 99% of us’ comment. I’m not sayin’ it ain’t true, I’m just sayin’ it hurt my heart, a little bit…
December 2nd, 20119:40 pm
TnBrian – to interpret the remarks the way you did paints Wren as a complete moron. If you choose to view him in that manner, that is certainly your right. And I apologize that after you continually revisited the same question several times and I had the temerity to respond. The idea that you refer to me as ignorant is also your right – it does say something about your ability to judge others on the blog, I am afraid…
Bay Area Steve, well it’s like Venice is attacking me without ever knowing who I even am. Judging, like he obviously is, through some silly blog is an ignorant thing to do. I’ve been guilty of this I’ll admit, but I’d like to think I’ve improved on this.
December 2nd, 20119:41 pm
December 2nd, 20119:44 pm
Venice, now that’s true. Wren is obviously a smart feller.
December 2nd, 20119:45 pm
Judging, like he obviously is, through some silly blog is an ignorant thing to do
I responded – no judging on that comment (of course, I have been reading your comments for several years, as you have mine)…
December 2nd, 20119:46 pm
she’s a meanie on Prime Suspect
So how many points is Oregon’s lead now? And did they feel the need to add a 2-point conversion?
December 2nd, 20119:47 pm
Oregon is up 35-14 and they go for 2 a lot (although they have not yet tonight). Just something they have done for a few seasons. Like going for it on 4th down more than most teams.
December 2nd, 20119:50 pm
they might trade some lower level MiLB players but not the top 5 or so is what I meant Brian.
Big limb or not BAS, I’ve said several times that I believe the odds of JJ or Prado going anywhere are pretty low, but several here do seem to think it is a given
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
