Pretty sure that’s the plan
Ward, that news came out today and yesterday. I thought it was interesting and if someone else didn’t read it, now they got the chance to read. Also, to answer your question, there is no telling about Wren. He’s being extremely patient, which is a good thing. The last thing we want is to get screwed with some player who turns out to be a bust.
November 19th, 20119:58 pm
Remaining SS Free Agent market:
Jerry Hairston Jr.
Trey- Read it,and lived it……
November 19th, 201110:02 pm
Efrim – Who do you like out of the SS list? I like Rollins, Furcal no,Wilson no,Reys no, Renteria, too old,and Agon isn’t coming back, and the others don’t know much about.
November 19th, 201110:05 pm
No sh** you read it, Ward, but maybe not everyone else has.
November 19th, 201110:07 pm
Trey- Just a little humor…..
November 19th, 201110:08 pm
Mine too, Ward.
Yes it is quite a lark that Cuban has no interest in this team. Thank goodness right?
I mean why would anyone want him as an owner versus John Malone & Liberty.
November 19th, 201110:09 pm
Sorry- who said it was good that Cuban wasn’t interested?
November 19th, 201110:10 pm
How good is Ramon Santiago?
November 19th, 201110:11 pm
Efrim Z. – I have not seen anyone bring up the fact that Dan Uggla, who made $9M in 2011 will get a raise to $13M in 2012. Probably just missed it, but it does need to be accounted for. Have you got any input on it?
November 19th, 201110:12 pm
Damn – one post three times. Earlier it was telling me 3 or 4 times I was making a duplicate post. Not working correctly in any case.
November 19th, 201110:13 pm
FOX is not showing a 2nd NFL game tomorrow so they can show a tape delayed English Premier League soccer game. This does not make me happy
November 19th, 201110:14 pm
Ward, by the way, about your white hair comment, I think I already have you beat to that. I found a couple little shiners here and there on my purdy, brown hair.
November 19th, 201110:16 pm
Trey- What Wren, can do to us fans…….The art of being patient.
November 19th, 201110:17 pm
Cab- soccer is growing…….
are the Niners at home tomorrow?
November 19th, 201110:18 pm
Ummm, not bigger than football. Not here. Not in the ever future. Sorry
Yes, Niners are home
November 19th, 201110:19 pm
I couldn’t care less about what Wren does, right now, Ward. There’s not much on the market anyway. We’re not getting a big named batter, or great pitcher, so I am just ready for the season to start. Hopefully we won’t be mediocre.
November 19th, 201110:20 pm
keylargo, yes, this has been accounted for.
Cab- What’s VJ’s take on the Giants game tomorrow? Is there any hope? I’m trying not to think about the game much, but it’s not working.
November 19th, 201110:21 pm
He’s not home yet. Who do they play?
November 19th, 201110:22 pm
Trey- If the Braves can just get by,and come close,or make it again to the Play- Offs, I could be happy with that.
Martha Marcy May Marlene is an outstanding movie. Don’t let the name fool you, it’s not some ‘chick flick.’ Tense, smartly written. The skinny guy that played the psychotic meth dealer in Winter’s Bone stars as a psychotic sort of cult leader in this.
I’d give it an A-
November 19th, 201110:23 pm
Cab-The Eagles on Sunday Night football NBC.
It’s gotten great reviews and Elizabeth Olsen had a big write up in the LA Times a few weeks back, where it praised her performance. Looks like one I would like
November 19th, 201110:24 pm
I suspect the Giants chances improved a lot with Vick out
November 19th, 201110:25 pm
But the Giants are a very good team- one of the top 3 or 4 in the NFC, I think. I think they win a close one
Since I don’t see the Braves signing Reyes, Rollins or Furcal, the pickings are very slim in that free agent SS market. From Nick Punto down on that list are not everyday players.
Alex Gonzalez is going to get a two year deal with all of these other SS’s getting overpaid. I guess that leaves Ronny Cedeno – who I’m not a fan of, but I’ll take him over any of the others. Best case is a trade, in my opinion.
November 19th, 201110:26 pm
It will be a fun one to watch.
November 19th, 201110:27 pm
Ward, I’ll only be happy if they make the playoffs.
Efrim- That list doesn’t leave Wren much.
November 19th, 201110:28 pm
Ward, what do you think about Bud Selig and his idea on making a one game playoff for the Wild Card?
Trey- I’m not building my hopes up on the Braves this year. Last year I did,and it took me three weeks to get over. If you know what I mean?
November 19th, 201110:30 pm
Ward, the Braves and every other team in Atlanta are teams that you can’t expect much from. Never get your hopes up for any Atlanta Team, because more than likely they will fail, just gotta be supportive.
November 19th, 201110:32 pm
Trey- I like, but think Inter-League must go,and then I’ll like the new system even better.
November 19th, 201110:33 pm
You can’t have 15 teams in each league with no interleague play
November 19th, 201110:40 pm
Cab – Thats why I said all that. Like the Wild Cards, but I always have hated interleague play,so I don’t know what to think yet? It could be another bad Bud S.idea?Selig is the worst person on earth. How baseball picked him I don’t know.
November 19th, 201110:45 pm
Ward, I hate the new system. I dislike Bud Selig and I wish his ass would just retire already. They should have sent his precious Brewers back to the American League where they started out. Move them to the AL Central and move the Royals back to the American League West. Either that, or do something to send the D-Backs to the American League.
November 19th, 201110:50 pm
Trey-Too me Bud Silig doesn’t care about the Players,or the Fans.He just wants to make money, and this sytem might not even work? It Could fail baseball.Just my views though.
November 19th, 201110:51 pm
Easier logistically to just move one team. If you move the D-backs, you’d have to move another NL team to the West…
November 19th, 201110:52 pm
Trey- I think Natinal League should paly against each other, and the American league should play against each other. I don’t care about a Mets, and Yankees series. I like the old rivals. Just like the old way.
November 19th, 201110:53 pm
If it works? What do I know? I just like things the way it used to be.
cab, I know that, but the D-Backs have much less history than the ‘Stros.
November 19th, 201110:56 pm
But the Stros’ history sucks
November 19th, 201111:00 pm
Besides, there’s 6 teams in the NL Central and 4 in the AL West. Makes it easier for everybody to just change the one team
I think Wren surprises. Big named OF is coming here. Watch for a Andre Eithier type guy. Maye not a superstar, but a goodin will come. SS will be a Cedeno type or maye a guy through trade that has like a year left o his contract.
November 19th, 201111:01 pm
Jeffrey, do you really think that the Astros will do much better in the American League when they have to face the Yankees and the Red Sox? Jeez, a snowball has a better shot in Hell. At least send a team to the American League that actually has a chance.
November 19th, 201111:02 pm
it’s obvious my “b” button is having trouble on this little keypad
I wasn’t aware that this move was intended to push the Astros into World Series contention. I thought it was just for balance
November 19th, 201111:04 pm
It was fine the way it was, jeffrey.
November 19th, 201111:05 pm
Anybody check out uga’s rants late last night on McGuirk? LOL! He was fine until he just happend to type his name out of nowhere and then all hell broke loose. It just lit a fuse in him. Unreal funny shi*.
cabravesfan: She’s terrific in it. Beautiful and a fine actress.
Trojans going to hold off the Ducks? It’s getting interesting.
November 19th, 201111:06 pm
A little too interesting for my liking but it’s been a good game.
(I’m sure you are aware Elizabeth Olsen is Mary-Kate & Ashley’s younger sister, right?)
November 19th, 201111:07 pm
As a long time Braves fan since the seventies, I am sick and tired of this penny pinching. You have a young established pitcher in Jair and a excellent all around player in Martin who could and would contribute to the Braves in years to come. However, due to the fear of arbitration salaries, the front office makes it more than apparent that sticking to the payroll is a heck of lot more important than winning. This team going nowhere until Liberty sells the team to someone that cares about winning.
November 19th, 201111:08 pm
Marquise Lee & Robert Woods are going to be the best WR tandem in the country next year, if they are not already
Who was that Cuban dude pushing Cespedes and Castro? Wow.
BTW, Castro has some serious issues on defense. I was listening to a game earlier last summer and the opposing teams broadcasters were talking about that he has bad footwork and a bad release.
But he is young, so he will probably grow out of it. Maybe
When I was in my mid twenties, folks would guess me to be mid thirties. I had more than 2-3 shiny grays……………
November 19th, 201111:09 pm
If y’all care then go back to page 3 where uga started up at 2:16 this morning. I tried to calm him down, to no avail
Sorry CAB, but I’m rooting for Oregon. There’s 8 one-loss teams (hopefully UGA will make it 9…lol), and I’m pulling for them all to win out. Hopefully if 8 teams (undefeated Houston too) get shut out of national championship contention, it’ll spark enough outcry for at least a 4-team playoff
November 19th, 201111:10 pm
there was a small part of my brain that was too. But there will be no changes to the system…
November 19th, 201111:11 pm
DS1, it’s amazing what stress can do to you, eh!
cabravesfan: Yes, I could hardly believe it when I read it a while back, that she was their sister….
TnBrian: Yes, I was fortunate enough to see the entertaining anti-McGuirk flurry from uga-brave.
So, 90 million plus does not say “we want to win” to you? Money is NOT the Braves problem.
There are 30 teams out there that want to win. But in baseball, as in life, somebody has to finish 2nd and 3rd and 4th…………
November 19th, 201111:13 pm
Hereditary for me Trey………… can’t blame it on stress.
You have to admit sometimes he’s funny. I know when he’s tipsy too. Tipsy ad McGuirk don’t mix for uga.
November 19th, 201111:14 pm
CAB – I wouldn’t rule it out. The BCS is about making money, and more games would be more money. And usually there’s 1 or 2 teams that can have a legit beef about being shutout from NC contention. But if there’s 7? I’d like to think something would change.
Funny how some folks have the Ricky Bobby syndrome. If you ain’t first, you’re last.
well ski trip is now locked in…if I wasn’t so old and unhip I would say I’m stoked for another EPIC trip
November 19th, 201111:15 pm
I’m sure You’ll will like my pointless comment,so I soon departed…..
November 19th, 201111:16 pm
Mine might actually be bits and pieces of both, DS1.
Where you going tiger? And there’s a lot of us on here who would like to be “old” like you!
November 19th, 201111:18 pm
Well, DOB,and all have a good one,and peace……Talk tomorrow.
November 19th, 201111:19 pm
tiger, have fun and be safe.
Why are the Oregon players’ names the same color as their jereseys?
November 19th, 201111:20 pm
Many many curse words
November 19th, 201111:23 pm
Who am I kiddin … uga is always tipsy
November 19th, 201111:27 pm
Heyward trimed down, and with a healthy diet. …ward
if true I am very glad to hear it. I think the extra bulk last year hampered the liveliness of his swing some last year
November 19th, 201111:28 pm
DS1 – breckenridge again…I’ve been to Salt Lake once but the flights from here are so much more expensive. I can get to Denver direct for $250 but its nearly $400 to SLC (times 4 that adds up).
November 19th, 201111:29 pm
I hope you’re happy, CAB
November 19th, 201111:30 pm
I think the extra bulk last year hampered the liveliness of his swing some last year
Didn’t that happen to Francoeur?
November 19th, 201111:33 pm
Big named OF is coming here….TnB
seriously doubt it
“I think the extra bulk last year hampered the liveliness of his swing some last year
Didn’t that happen to Francoeur?”
If so, it will just get worse.
November 19th, 201111:35 pm
they teach saltalamachia to play LF? or another big name?
November 19th, 201111:38 pm
nobody here to talk to me…or just ignoring me?
guys like frenchy and Jason are big enough without bulking up. Back in my day it was considered a totally bad idea to bilk up. slowed your swing and took away some of the whip. Got hot during the PEDS days, but I’d like to see it lose some of it’s allure again
come on people ya’ll going to make me read a book
November 19th, 201111:39 pm
they teach saltalamachia to play LF?
Hi tiger. how are you and the tyke?
November 19th, 201111:40 pm
jeffrey d – thx…about twice a year I figure one out b4 someone else posts it
November 19th, 201111:41 pm
doing great-coming up on the most wonderful time of the year (also known as the busiest time of the year)
also heavy bulky muscle uses more oxygen than longer ropier muscle and can lead to more cramps and strains.
November 19th, 201111:43 pm
yeah family/kid time is arriving. Nice to have a lil’ un to share it with
November 19th, 201111:44 pm
nolie – and I’m just playing stupid here because I’m not too keen on the matter – I understand that more bulk can slow you down, but can’t more muscle help you to swing faster? Like Uggla’s Popeye arms?
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
