so….Dawgs lucked out huh?
November 19th, 20113:46 pm
Ha, yeah Clete’s hair is on fire most of the time so far.
what is that in horse years McF???
November 19th, 20113:48 pm
Perhaps I’m reading range factor incorrectly….but A.Gonzalez has been below league average for most of his career.
November 19th, 20113:49 pm
Dave’s behavior is pretty true to life. He learns a bit more control of his drinking by becoming more stiff like often happens with reformed abusers, but the anger is always still near the surface
November 19th, 20113:50 pm
Hello everyone! Latest on rumors. Wren is looking at SS now.Evaluation now.His eye is on SS.
Gonzo has very good range especially into the hole.
November 19th, 20113:51 pm
Thanks for the link, look forward to reading it later.
November 19th, 20113:53 pm
Gonzo has had what is likely his two best defensive seasons the last two years
for about 4 years he was hurt a lot and that did hinder his play
November 19th, 20113:54 pm
just as long as he doesn’t start evaluating bloggers ward………
Does anyone have the list of veteran SS again? If so? I would like to check it out.
November 19th, 20113:55 pm
Watching AFL championshp game on MLB. Braves catching prospect Bethancourt homered.
Marlins prospects wearing new Miami Marlins uni. I’m sorry, but they are truly bad.
Bay Area Steve
Ya mind postin’ the full list? I’d like to see where Esco and some others rank.
November 19th, 20113:56 pm
nolie- It’s from ESPN. Bloggers can over state things I noticed.
Christian Bentacourt 2 run Homer in AFL Final Game..Live MLB Net
November 19th, 20113:57 pm
DOB…agree with those Miami Uni…ugly
Don’t blame Albert,or Reyes if they don’t sign. Hell, I wouldn’t wear those Marlins uniforms.
November 19th, 20113:58 pm
I feel like insight is being wasted. I wanna here some chatter of what of say. If the braves are sold we can all be alot happier. People talk about Cuban why not Blank,or is Ted missing the ownership roll. Would he buy them back?
November 19th, 20113:59 pm
Braves catching prospect Betancourt homered.
sooooo….McCann for Braun?
This Kid Betancourt is Big 6′4…wow 20yr old….
November 19th, 20114:00 pm
It’s gonna take more than Mac to get braun.
November 19th, 20114:01 pm
You going to see Gilmartin in this Game…
I was joking
Esco was in the top 10 last year BAS. I am having trouble lately getting past the top 10 list though it says we can view the top 30 at each position. Not sure what the problem is, I contacted them and am awaiting a response. If it gets fixed I will post it.
Cuban, for Braves campaign………New owner. Let’s all launch one.
November 19th, 20114:03 pm
not sure where it would rank but Escobrat had 6 Runs Saved this year. Quite a bit more last season
November 19th, 20114:04 pm
Wow top 25 prospect in the AFL…and the Terd is not in….he was killing the ball in this league this yr
November 19th, 20114:05 pm
Well all! I shall return……The Irish are going to be on.Talk later, and peace…..
Yeah Dave talks about AA a lot. The guy does go from cold to hot in a blink and brings on extra problems that way, makes him an interesting character. I’m familiar with that just below the surface anger.
November 19th, 20114:06 pm
So we have the number 5 AFL prospect and the number 20. So how bout offering prado and betancourt for cain and myers or is it possible that betancourt could play third I think I read that somewhere. If that’s the case that would be huge.
most folks away from the Braves seem to have a lot of doubts about whether da Terd will hit in the bigs enough to be a starter at a corner position. we all hope they are wrong
November 19th, 20114:08 pm
Bethancourt has the makings of a great defensive catcher, they ain’t gonna waste that at third
I know this has been explored on a previous blog, but didn’t want to wade through pages and pages of sentimental drivel to find out what the more sober minded folk think of Murph to the Hall. Thoughts?
Terdo just hit a two-out single in the AFL championship game. Switch-hitter’s left-handed swing is a good-looking stroke.
November 19th, 20114:11 pm
This kid Betancourt in A few couple yrs. he can have the Frame of Staton of the Miami marlin..big strong kid.
Yeah i think it is the kid terd that was the third base prospect. I got it wrong.
November 19th, 20114:12 pm
I thought he was borderline at most Woody, but I am a bit surprised that he never got any more support than he did. Too few great years and too steep a dropoff I guess.
I’m not sure I would vote him in but I definitely think he deserved more consideration than he got.
I also think the Braves could have started a campaign several years earlier to give him some help
DOB…i been follow the AFL and Terd is raking…good approach to the ball
DOB–you checked out the iTunes Match feature? Great, IMHO.
November 19th, 20114:14 pm
it would be great if the kid can come up and help when Chipper leaves cause nobody down on the farm looks to be a sure fire star at third
November 19th, 20114:15 pm
Prado for Arenado….this kid is a good propspect
Sensible, Nolie. I would lean no if I had the vote. Wonder if the Hall voting has variations in its voting patterns, with the tweeners getting in during certain periods, but not in others. Where are we now? Tougher or easier to get in than 15 or 20 years ago?
November 19th, 20114:16 pm
So I guess we got alot of talent in the minors I say search for SS and LF. It looks like terd could be our future at third and betencourt sounds like quite the stud we got future replacements everywhere. We are already a young team I like the possibilities of the braves future.
McFann O O o
November 19th, 20114:17 pm
nolie what is that in horse years McF???
DOB Braves catching prospect Betancourt homered.
Who did what now?…
November 19th, 20114:18 pm
Turd at third just sounds bad.
After Murphs back to back MVPs you would think he was well on his way to cooperstown. The few years at the end of his career 88-93 took him from a HOF player to a very good player
November 19th, 20114:19 pm
Arenado just signed up with Boras.
Sorry, Terd. Still sounds bad.
tougher with the PEDS questions right now maybe Woody. but we are gonna see some seriously strong folks knocking at the door over the next half dozen years I think starting with two of the Killer Bs, Thome and sever others including Chipper
November 19th, 20114:21 pm
Billy–I tend to like the “dominant few years argument” and really don’t like the longevity argument. That said, does a guy like George Foster, who was so fearsome at the peak of his career, deserve Hall? It’s a fine line…
November 19th, 20114:22 pm
Bora$ works hard at collecting the promising ones and does a great job of representing them, which is why fans hate him
November 19th, 20114:23 pm
Prado for Arenado….this kid is a good prospect
Which is why they wouldn’t trade him to us for just about anyone.
I like a combo of the two. Anything less than a ten year span better be Koufax level dominant IMO
November 19th, 20114:24 pm
what about starting pitchers, nolie? With pitch count all the rage, how do you figure that managing strategy will affect the chances of starting pitchers? Or might we even see the first HOF middle reliever? “He was a GREAT, I mean, GREAT set-up man.”
Koufax the rarest of examples. I agree, though.
November 19th, 20114:25 pm
middle-reliever? I think btydefinition that makes one not HOF worthy
November 19th, 20114:26 pm
The new CBA will do away with the Elias rankings, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. Under the new system, the top free agents will be subject to compensation if teams make them qualifying offers north of $12MM.
Wonder if we would give Bourn a 12 million dollar qualifying offer. Probably not. Not sure how I feel about this new system. Thought we were just eliminating first round compensation all together, but I suppose you have to protect them somewhat. Wonder how they will determine who is Type A and not.
All remaining Type A relievers will not be subject to draft-pick compensation this offseason, a source tells Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Teams that sign those relievers and certain other Type A free agents will not forfeit draft picks. Teams that lose those players, however, will still receive compensatory picks (Twitter link).
Can’t wait till Tuesday when all of this is final and on paper…
November 19th, 20114:27 pm
I would say so, too, nolie. How ’bout Gates Brown in the pinch hitter wing?
November 19th, 20114:29 pm
a bit harder to be as dominant now days. Chipper for instance has very little Black Ink for a HOFer. Murph actually had a LOT more
November 19th, 20114:30 pm
Andre Dawson not much either, nolie.
Ter dos la vich. Emphasis on the DOS. I wondered how they were going to “clean it up”.
November 19th, 20114:31 pm
Murphy = Dawson?
November 19th, 20114:32 pm
big question to me now is DHers Woody. Thome started a lot as did The Big Hurt, but what about guys liker Edgar who was perhaps the greatest career DHer so far?
How bout “vichy” Key?
November 19th, 20114:33 pm
Rockies CF prospect Tim Wheeler just reached out and pulled a single to RF in AFL title game. He’s batting second. Didn’t realize until they said it that he was only 30-homer, 20-steals guy in all of minor league ball this past season.
November 19th, 20114:34 pm
Nolie–guys get in on the bat, forgiven for the glove. ’spose we’ll see it regularly. With more interleague play, wonder if we’re going to see it in the NL down the line.
November 19th, 20114:35 pm
for a few years they were the two best all-around OFers in baseball perhaps, Murph took too long to get there and died too quickly I guess. Dawson held it together forever especially considering his knee problems. I see Dawson as borderline myself but have no real problem with his election
November 19th, 20114:37 pm
Maybe this is dumb, but does Soriano get in with 400 hrs?
November 19th, 20114:39 pm
Wheeler had a great year, but it was a very big difference from his previous two. If he can sustain that difference for the most part, he will be a very good player.
yeah a dumb question Woody
November 19th, 20114:41 pm
Like the next few years with Walker, I think the next few with Edgar will give us some insight on the electors thoughts about Coors and DHers
November 19th, 20114:42 pm
This feels like the longest day ever
November 19th, 20114:46 pm
Woody – if you grew up with all the kids calling you Terdo It can only get better.
This AFL game is going to be broadcast again on MLB at 2 am tonight if anyone missed some of it.
A long Saturday’s fine with me
November 19th, 20114:47 pm
yeah, but I’m bored and none of the current games are overly interesting to me
November 19th, 20114:49 pm
that’s cause you actually leave the house at times Jeffrey. cab just sits around the house 24/7 so she needs more diversions…….
November 19th, 20114:51 pm
I leave the house! But we only have one car so I really don’t have anywhere I can go at the moment…
The only time I left my house today I was blowing leaves
November 19th, 20114:52 pm
Where’s VJ? At a party?
nolie is just back to being mean ole nolie…I hope Stanley bites him tonight
November 19th, 20114:53 pm
He’s working in the valley until 5- and then it will take him at least an hour to get home
November 19th, 20114:54 pm
Yeah, an hour for all the partying
November 19th, 20114:55 pm
nah Stanley and I have bonded. we is bros
November 19th, 20115:00 pm
I cant believe the Clint Barmes deal….5.5 mil a season!! Are you kidding? We’ll have to beg SeaBass to come back after the Carroll,Barmes deals.
November 19th, 20115:08 pm
I really think there set on having a veteran in at Shortstop to start the season. Our options now are SeaBass, Omar Vizquel, Ramon Santiago, Ronny Cedeno, Alex Cora, Jack Wilson, Orlando Cabrera… Seriously if your expecting some offense from the Shortstop postion none of these guys are options. Clearly SeaBass being the best defender and providing the best power of the bunch is te top option now.
November 19th, 20115:09 pm
The Braves are trying their best to have the 5th highest (aka lowest) payroll in the NL East next year . . .
November 19th, 20115:13 pm
IMO..Give the Kid a break….Pastor/Hick at ss….
November 19th, 20115:15 pm
after those two signings can Gonzo not get at least two years from somebody>
I didn’t pay Gonzo or other Vet ss not more of 2.\ mil a yrs…will be fine at ss with the REV
November 19th, 20115:16 pm
cabravesfan, well we all know that nolie gets this way at times. I think most have just learned to take nolie’s tantrums with a grain of salt and move on. You don’t and you will get hurt. Mean old man if you hit a nerve with him. I have scars to prove the beating he and Lew have put upon me over the years. Can’t say I didn’t deserve them either.
November 19th, 20115:18 pm
yup, that damn nolie is a piece of work
Great points on the Barmes multi year signing. Almost a guarantee for me that Gonzo will be wearing another uni in ‘12. Unless he really has a soft spot for the Braves and would take a 1 year deal. Not a chance though imo.
November 19th, 20115:21 pm
Gonzo is going to owe Barmes and his agent BIG time Christmas presents this year!
Can anybody say Ronny Cedeno or Brendan Ryan?
November 19th, 20115:22 pm
New collective bargaining agreement includes testing for HGH (didn’t know there was a test). I bet they catch several – or more.
November 19th, 20115:23 pm
Anybody bored and nice enough to give specifics on Eric Aybar’s contract info? This guy seems a perfect fit for us. Problem is the Angels are tight asses with their players. Seems like it takes an act of congress to pry one of their guys. Kotchman/Marek for Tex doesn’t count. We got raped there.
I bet the Pirates are sorry they didn’t pick up Cedeno’s option for 3 million now.
November 19th, 20115:24 pm
testing will begin in Feb before Spring Training.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
