Dave’s behavior is pretty true to life. He learns a bit more control of his drinking by becoming more stiff like often happens with reformed abusers, but the anger is always still near the surface

Esco was in the top 10 last year BAS. I am having trouble lately getting past the top 10 list though it says we can view the top 30 at each position. Not sure what the problem is, I contacted them and am awaiting a response. If it gets fixed I will post it.

Yeah Dave talks about AA a lot. The guy does go from cold to hot in a blink and brings on extra problems that way, makes him an interesting character. I’m familiar with that just below the surface anger.

So we have the number 5 AFL prospect and the number 20. So how bout offering prado and betancourt for cain and myers or is it possible that betancourt could play third I think I read that somewhere. If that’s the case that would be huge.

I thought he was borderline at most Woody, but I am a bit surprised that he never got any more support than he did. Too few great years and too steep a dropoff I guess.
I’m not sure I would vote him in but I definitely think he deserved more consideration than he got.
I also think the Braves could have started a campaign several years earlier to give him some help

Sensible, Nolie. I would lean no if I had the vote. Wonder if the Hall voting has variations in its voting patterns, with the tweeners getting in during certain periods, but not in others. Where are we now? Tougher or easier to get in than 15 or 20 years ago?

So I guess we got alot of talent in the minors I say search for SS and LF. It looks like terd could be our future at third and betencourt sounds like quite the stud we got future replacements everywhere. We are already a young team I like the possibilities of the braves future.

After Murphs back to back MVPs you would think he was well on his way to cooperstown. The few years at the end of his career 88-93 took him from a HOF player to a very good player

Billy–I tend to like the “dominant few years argument” and really don’t like the longevity argument. That said, does a guy like George Foster, who was so fearsome at the peak of his career, deserve Hall? It’s a fine line…

The new CBA will do away with the Elias rankings, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets. Under the new system, the top free agents will be subject to compensation if teams make them qualifying offers north of $12MM.
Wonder if we would give Bourn a 12 million dollar qualifying offer. Probably not. Not sure how I feel about this new system. Thought we were just eliminating first round compensation all together, but I suppose you have to protect them somewhat. Wonder how they will determine who is Type A and not.
All remaining Type A relievers will not be subject to draft-pick compensation this offseason, a source tells Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (via Twitter). Teams that sign those relievers and certain other Type A free agents will not forfeit draft picks. Teams that lose those players, however, will still receive compensatory picks (Twitter link).
Can’t wait till Tuesday when all of this is final and on paper…

Rockies CF prospect Tim Wheeler just reached out and pulled a single to RF in AFL title game. He’s batting second. Didn’t realize until they said it that he was only 30-homer, 20-steals guy in all of minor league ball this past season.

for a few years they were the two best all-around OFers in baseball perhaps, Murph took too long to get there and died too quickly I guess. Dawson held it together forever especially considering his knee problems. I see Dawson as borderline myself but have no real problem with his election

I really think there set on having a veteran in at Shortstop to start the season. Our options now are SeaBass, Omar Vizquel, Ramon Santiago, Ronny Cedeno, Alex Cora, Jack Wilson, Orlando Cabrera… Seriously if your expecting some offense from the Shortstop postion none of these guys are options. Clearly SeaBass being the best defender and providing the best power of the bunch is te top option now.

Great points on the Barmes multi year signing. Almost a guarantee for me that Gonzo will be wearing another uni in ‘12. Unless he really has a soft spot for the Braves and would take a 1 year deal. Not a chance though imo.

Anybody bored and nice enough to give specifics on Eric Aybar’s contract info? This guy seems a perfect fit for us. Problem is the Angels are tight asses with their players. Seems like it takes an act of congress to pry one of their guys. Kotchman/Marek for Tex doesn’t count. We got raped there.
