I’m a Chipper fan, but his situation really complicates things for Wren.
It’s hard to trade Prado when he will be needed to play 40 games at 3B for Chipper. And because of that, we also need a backup LF who can play 40 games when Prado plays 3B.
It would be nice if he had a full time 3B who we could count on for 140 games (like Aramis Ramirez).
And with Chipper having an option for 2012-2013, Prado might or might not be the full time replacement. What happens next offseason when 1) Chipper plays enough games for his 2012-2013 option to kick in or 2) Even if his option doesn’t kick in, he says he wants to play another year?

Aramis Ramirez has played 140+ games twice in the last 5 years, which is one more season then Chipper
Last 5 years: Ramirez 636 games played, Chipper 626 games played.

Here’s what Mark Cuban said via email when I asked him about possibly buying Braves and told him about the 95 percent “yes” votes from fans who’d like him to try to buy the team:
“I’m flattered by the fans’ response. While I respect the amazing tradition and history of the Braves, and ATL is a great sports town, it’s not a franchise I would pursue.”
I followed up by asking if that was because he had a preference for franchises further West, or if there was some other factor involved. His response:
“I like franchises that need a lot of help. The Braves have a great franchise.”

When the SEC went to a 12 game schedule, most schools either scheduled a patsie Division 1 or a Division II schoool to pick up an extra win. Georgia beat New Mexico State 2 weeks ago 63 to 14 or something close to that.
It is a win win situation though. Ga paid NMS about $1 million to come to Athens. (All the 12th games are played at the SEC schools stadium).

So i like trying to trade with the angels that makes sense if we can get trout,bourjos. Also like i said earlier the cubs are willing to trade and they need depth. Lets go get castro and some low level prospects for JJ,prado,pats,delgado. Also the Cuban kid to play LF they say he is a true CF so left will be easy and our OF would be extremely great fielding OF. In the WBC he hit over 450 with 5 xbhs go get this dude. Also Cuban is a nickname not my nationality, so that is not why I want him. I see Stanton like potential. If the Braves want to really win spent on scouting look how the dodgers get all there talent from within.

There is no reason a Big 6 conference school should be playing a I-AA school past the first 2 or 3 weeks of the season, if they insist on playing a lower division at all…

What about bonafacio from the marlins he is versitile. He can play everywhere besides C and 1st. Maybe they will take prado for him straight up. It makes sense for both teams they get more power we get the speed and ss we need. It makes to much sense.

Maybe Aramis was not a good example lol. But my point remains the same. With Chipper, would anyone pencil him in for more than 120 games? We need a 3B who we can feel confident about them playing 140+ games.
That would make it alot easier to trade Prado.

If Barmes (.656 OPS in ‘10, .698 OPS in ‘11) getting 2-yr deal w/ Pirates, then A.Gonz (.676 & .642 those years, and better defensively) will get 2-yr deal somewhere IMO

Cabravesfan no they don’t need a 2nd baseman we gave then Omar. They don’t need a LF either they got logan morrison. They might use a third baseman if reyes doesn’t sign with marlins. Hanley would move to third if reyes signs.

All I know is the braves need a right handed batter with power. We hit homers as a team but uggla is the only real power hitter. We need a quick ss and a power hitting LF. Have ya’ll every heard of the field of dreams? If you build it they will come, so lets build a team that can actually hit. You gotta spend money to make money. Invest wisely and the fruits of profit will be plentiful.

I saw him a bit in Bradenton HS CB. He had a funny arm slot that seemed to hinder what was an average arm. had pretty decent range. I would have thought someone would have worked with him on his throwing but maybe not. What I have read since seems to show him as average to a bit above average range and an average arm, but not the noodle that Joe sees. But I have not seem himexcept for a bit of tape that a local friend has of hin in A ball in Dunedin. seemed to fit with what I had read.
The consensus out of the Braves sphere is mixed, some don’t think he will be more than a decent backup long term in the bigs.
If they can bolster LF a bit he might do alright hitting 8th

All I know is no one likes a penny pusher. That’s all the braves are doing.This is ATL people do show up this isn’t tampa or mia we actually show up to games and more people will come if they spend more than what they have. The will see the return if they just put more in. Give me a payroll of 110 and we could kill people. When Chipper comes of the books along with lowe we’ll have all kinds of free money. Hudson is getting long in the tooth as well and he makes like 9 or 10 mill. Imagine 35 mill freed from them and 20 mill extra spend around 110 I’d like I spend we could spend wildly.

Barmes has flexibility on his side. He can play 2B or SS.
Barmes is also at least equal to Gonzalez in fielding. His numbers suggest better.

I think it might have been his best. Bat. the books are still great but he is
in the beginning, a more complex and interesting character. As the series progresses he becomes a bit stiffer and more self righteous. and Clete becomes a more pivotal character at times.
