Great Joe. Watching a little TV with my oldest. Flashpoint.

I’m thinking that Prado will be dealt to Colorado. They will eventually give up one of the two CF’ers. We might have to sweeten the pot with a lower level prospect.

McCann got one hell of a raise to be the worst defensive catcher in the league. Great offense, though. .180 or so the last couple of months.

Do you ever watch any other team in the league, or do you just like to make inane comments to make yourself feel superior to people who know what they’re talking about?

Trading for Seth Smith, another left-handed hitter, is NOT what the Braves need. The need a right-handed hitting outfielder with some pop. And have Smith platoon with Matt Diaz in leftfield. Are you serious?/
Would that leave Heyward playing everyday in right?
The Braves are already lefty hitting heavy, with Bourne, McCann, Freeman, and maybe Heyward, playing against leftys. And not just lefty starters, every lefthander reliever gets used vs. Braves hitters.
Is there a stat for how many innings a team faces lefty/vs. righthanders.
Bad idea all the way around!!

Too much gibberish if you ask me.

On another note…it’ssad that we really need a shortstop and a center fielder when we traded away one of the best young shortstops in the majors in Elvis Andrus. Plus now it looks like we really could use Jordan Shafer back. Bourne for 2 years then out wasn’t worth our top centerfield prospect. Jordan struggled because of his bad wrist, but he is a top tier prospect. Looks like Jeff Francour is better now that he is an ex-Brave as well.

We always trade away the pieces that would have taken us over the top for what? A rental player or two that we either can’t resign because of their agent or don’t want to resign because they were a bust. McLouth comes to mind in the bust catagory. Bourne & Texeria come to mind in the can’t sign catagory (I hate Boros’s guts).

Frenchy seems to have found his comfy spot, with minimal pressure. He seems to have gotten a pretty good payday for a low OBP guy. I’m happy for him.

I was a big Schafer fan (heck, I’m a fan of all our prospects). If he ever grows up, he might have a decent major league career. Maybe.

When we dealt Elvis, we didn’t know Yunel was going to get deep into Bobby’s dog house.

credibility? lemme see here Andrus was dealt because he was blocked by Renteria/Escobar, so unfortunately Andrus NEVER had a chance here! I personally wouldn’t have dealt for Tex, but hey He was the best 1B available at the time when clearly the Braves had NONE!
So lamenting that deal is rather asinine.
Bourn, or Mclouth? that answer is fairly obvious Bourn all damn day long! now run along and play with your water colors and etch a sketch!

platoon this—platoon that. I hate to here it again. Platoons are for trying to cover up a weakness. I’m about tired of not having a better quality outfield. I love Matty and Prado but Diaz is a limited player and Prado desearves to play infield where his lack of consistant power is more acceptable. I like A Gon on defense and wonder if a new hitting coach might help him. Big if though. His eye and strock last year were awful. So trade Prado for something of good quality that fits our needs, SS, OF. Jurrgens if we have to, though I think his long term worth is limited, without Hanson we’ll probably need him at least for half a season. And all things considered, if Heyward can’t come around to start realizing his potential we probably won’t go far even if we make the playoffs.

DS1

Joe

And the McLouth deal was a good move at the time. We didn’t give up much and most of us thought Nate was going to be the answer.

Similar situation with Bourn last year. Hopefully it turns out better, but he dropped off after getting to Atlanta similarly to the way Nate did a couple of years back.

Worst part about the Hot Stove League in these days, is we have loads of info, and we still have to wait!

Matt

November 19th, 2011

Pastoniky has a good arm and he runs fast, that’s pretty much it. Why are we looking for a bridge to a guy that isn’t a very good hitter or fielder instead of looking for a major league shortstop? The Yunel trade was bad, Frank, get over it.

Mekons5

There might be some fire with the smoke from Colorado, but I doubt anything we’ve heard so far is even close to what Wren is thinking.

Me, I’d like to snag Heisey from Cincy. He’d look pretty good in left and he can play center and right as well. It would be nice to get a true CF of the future too, since it’s unlikely Bourn is going to stay after next year.

It’s pretty obvious that everyone is going slow this off-season. Most trades are a series of moving parts and until some of those parts are in place, it’s tough to iron out a deal, because you never know who will suddenly become available or whose price will go down. Prado is a major chip for a team with a hole at 2B, and there are a lot of those, and our young pitching for teams with weak or erratic pitching (like Cincy). I think Wren is going to sit back and see what becomes available.

It’s frustrating, though. We really need an OF who can hit. I’d hate to give up Prado, just because of his insurance value, but if we have to, we have to. He’s worth way more as a starting 2B than as a supersub or LF, and Wren is probably looking for ways to convert that value. He’s pretty good at what he does, so I’ll deal with the frustration.

Well at the time of the Tex trade both players were 2+ years away from Atlanta, again asinine lamenting, Tex at the time was a necessary evil, Schuerholz perpetrated that deal. Wren cannot be held accountable.
Kinda like ol Bill Wheeler Dealer Lucas, trading Dusty Baker for a Jerry Royster…
The only trade JS ever pulled off that worked for Atlanta was for McGriff.
Wren is a helluva lot better than JS ever was.
Jermaine Dye
D.Justice
M.Grissom

Joe brave it is never good to morgage your future for a rental. There is nothing smart about the tex trade unless we keep him. It was rated top ten worst trades ever. I never spoke of the GMs. We have alot of pitching depth and some good bats to build around. We need a single owner not the group ownership crap. Lets pray some one like Cuban or Blank could buy the Braves. We are set everywhere except for 3rd,SS,LF. I say sign the Cuban kid to play LF. I heard the cubs are willing to deal the braves could trade JJ,Prado, and top pitching prospect for castro. Lets be real we don’t need to be 9 deep at pitcher. When Chipper final retires a ton of money will be freed and at that point we can get our spend on.

NOT SETH SMITH

Please not Seth Smith Frank!

Why give up a quality full time player like Prado for a part time player like Smith — with inflated Coors numbers — who will be here today and gone tomorrow?

And why trade a fan favorite like Prado for a player with comparable numbers? How does this improve the Braves?

Stop your revolving door policy Frank!

Save Prado for 3B when Chipper retires! And give a fully healed Martin a chance to prove what he really can do in LF next year! He’ll go back to his pre-2011 numbers.

Don’t bring in another Ryan Church type of player with Seth Smith. You tried that last year with Joe Mather.

See if you can sign J.D. Drew in hopes of a resurgent season from him. He had a career best season with the Braves.

Or do something else that would truly be effective and replace Fredi!
