It’s just me calling myself stupid.
November 19th, 201111:47 pm
LOL thanks preciate that

If heyward plays like he is projected to it’s like we signed a huge free agent. Is it possible the costanza kid can play left. If are team stayed healthy last year we would have been alot better. Heyward,Jones,Gonzo,Beachy,JJ,Hanson,Mac,Prado all where hurt last year. The one guy that I wish would have missed some games (lowe) keep being consistently horrible. So maybe we do better if these guys can keep of the DL.
I literally just got sick out of nowhere. Now I’m perfectly fine. Mustve been that rib sandwich or something. No matter how old we get we turn into a scared little kid again when we’re about to get sick.

not necessarily Jeffrey. it depends on the individual swing. In its relationship to a golf swing, whippiness can actually drive a ball farther than muscle power. a certain amount of muscle if fine and ofter a help but if done incorrectly and in the wrong parts of the body it can hinder. A guy as large as Jason does not need to get as bulky as he was last year to hit with power and if might have hampered him
November 19th, 201111:53 pm
Save teen teen.
November 19th, 201111:56 pm
And Tiger clinches the President’s Cup, even while Braves’ blogging…
November 19th, 201111:57 pm
everybody wants to bulk up…
Hi Soph. I’m pretty sure Wren won’t just give him away if it happens at all. My guess is that the odds are on him staying, but one never nos (as someone spelled it recently)
Wow – Baylor!
November 19th, 201111:58 pm
When I was Heyward’s age I bulked up to 145, and could not swing a softball bat properly…
November 19th, 201111:59 pm
Stupid rib sandwich. I won’t eat another one even if they’re delicious.
November 20th, 201112:00 am
Wow – Baylor again…
November 20th, 201112:01 am
yeah tiger, but too much of a good thing can be become no longer all that good a thing in some cases.
anyway I hope losing a bit of bulk helps him some. not like he ain’t gonna still be a BIG dude
November 20th, 201112:02 am
Hi noles, hope you’re right. I understand if the price is right but I really feel like he’ll be closer to 2010 Marteen again next season.
November 20th, 201112:03 am
became the ultimate Mathlete huh VJ?
November 20th, 201112:05 am
almost got your weight up to the same number as your IQ……..
November 20th, 201112:06 am
Hi VJ. I trash talked about your school earlier to see if you’d show up but I was informed you were at work.
November 20th, 201112:07 am
Stoopid Damn Criminoles
Andre Ethier is my pick as LF for the Bravos. Just seems right though he’s a lefty.
Still almost as excellent as I used to be in basketball…
So Soph, who’s going to be your new favorite player once Martin is dealt?
November 20th, 201112:08 am
Soph – I was informed – bring it on…
when its sleepy time down south
That sounds like the boringest reality show in the history of television
November 20th, 201112:10 am
Ahem, IF Marteen is traded then I’ll have to think about it. McFann will probably have to share Mac with me.
November 20th, 201112:11 am
Ok nolie, TCABIABMT…P?
There’s plenty of Mac to go around. Literally.
November 20th, 201112:13 am
I’ll wait until we’re somewhat relevant, VJ. Besides I won’t be snooty about it like jeffrey and his SEC buddies.
November 20th, 201112:15 am
venice jim you just realized what baylor did?
November 20th, 201112:17 am
usc and baylor just opened bamma.
November 20th, 201112:18 am
I’m not snooty. I can’t help it if the SEC is the greatest conference in history.
Say, did you know that the SEC inventing the printing press in 1440 helped to increase literacy and awareness throughout the world?
November 20th, 201112:20 am
jeff d, matt ryan sucks.

Braves interested in Yankees Shortstop Eduardo Nunez reported on MLBTR.
“They need offense,” said Harper’s source. “They need a shortstop because they don’t want to bring [Alex] Gonzalez back, and they like Nunez a lot. They know the jury is out on him defensively, but they think his offense is strong enough that he could move to the outfield if he can’t be their long-term answer at short.”
Atlanta did not discuss Jair Jurrjens or any specific players on their side with the Yankees, and they also showed interest in Nunez last winter. The 24-year-old infielder hit .265/.313/.385 with five homers in 338 plate appearances this past year, stealing 22 bases in 28 tries as well.
Nunez played short and third base primarily last season, getting regular at-bats when Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez hit the disabled list at different times of the summer. He also saw time at second base and occasionally filled in at the corner outfield spots. Nunez committed 20 errors in his limited time, most coming on throws, so his ability to play the left side of the infield on an everyday basis is still in question.
November 20th, 201112:50 am
A lengthy drought here on the blog…
Not that I will pull a Ward…
November 20th, 201112:51 am
Since he makes an effort to have Braves’ related comments…
November 20th, 201112:53 am
VaBravesFan: I made a suggestion for the Braves to trade Jurjjens and Bourn, to the Yankees for Gardner , Nunez and another minor league bat. Gardner would replace Bourn and have 4 more years before free agency, Nunez would be a short term SS until Simmons or Pastornicky are ready and the Braves would have 5 more years of him before Free agency: In addition, the Braves would save almost $12 million in payroll this year and have CF set for 4 more years, SS set for 5 more years if Nunez turns into to a above average SS or he could be a very good utility player or trade bait.
November 20th, 201112:54 am
What’s new in math, VJ?
November 20th, 201112:55 am
usc and baylor just opened bamma.
Your boys need to waylay LSU…
November 20th, 201112:56 am
jeffrey – best thing new in math today was my take home for working for 9 hours…
November 20th, 201112:57 am
I was hoping you’d say something like pi is exactly 3
November 20th, 20111:01 am
I must have missed that…
venice jim. did you watch the presidents cup?
November 20th, 20111:02 am
Time to move along – just want to congratulate Jonathan Grimes for completing a phenomenal career for the Tribe, since I’m sure he’ll be reading this later…
November 20th, 20111:03 am
tiger showed out.
uga – absolutely – the timing was great for me most of the tournament…
November 20th, 20111:04 am
November 20th, 20111:05 am
Well Nunez doesn’t strike out much at all, but also doesn’t walk much either. Has speed and is still really young. For me the main question is defense. You don’t want to mess around at a position like SS. Watching through the years you quickly realize this position is key for good defense.
Yeah, I’d be fine with him for at least until Pastornicky is ready, then he could move to another position or be a super sub type player like he is with the Yankees.
Tiger played well the two matches he lost with Dustin Johnson…the putts today made the difference…
November 20th, 20111:07 am
uga – could’.t resist buying a bottle of DuBouef Beaujolais Nouveau today – not necessarily the greatest thing, but a nice harbinger of the holiday season…
November 20th, 20111:08 am
Could possibly something centered around Prado to NYY for Swisher and Nunez be brewing?
November 20th, 20111:09 am
Or they’re targeting Nunez to be Prado’s replacement as our super sub for an upcoming Prado trade.
November 20th, 20111:11 am
gotta love the venice jim.
pretty sure cab was happy?
the trojans came through.
November 20th, 20111:13 am
where is tom ” o hack?
November 20th, 20111:15 am

November 20th, 20111:16 am

November 20th, 20111:19 am
That a typo or do you not like the guy?
November 20th, 20111:20 am
bas, golf wise. i can drop a a little 3 wood.
a little cut shot.
November 20th, 20111:22 am
Thanks for the Nanci Griffith last night…she’s been speaking to my heart since the 70’s and that is one of her best songs. Kathy Mattea did a good version of it, too.
I hope we (UGA) can take care of LSU or Alabama, but we will have to play a perfect game. Our defense has really come together and Jarvis Jones in a monster on the field.
November 20th, 20111:23 am
jeff do want to tip it UP?
November 20th, 20111:25 am
Eduardo Nunez? Wow.
Harper’s source suggests that “..[Braves] think his offense is strong enough that he could move to the outfield if he can’t be their long-term answer at short.”
That guy’s numbers look more in line with SS than the OF. How is that even a valid reason? Besides now that Posada is gone, wont they need Nunez when Jeter/ARod is the DH.
November 20th, 20111:27 am
HOW About jarvis jones. coming off the edge.
November 20th, 20111:30 am
2,4,5,7 lost. Exciting losses too.
kenhotlanta has it right, we run like hounds.
oglgetree. is a monster.
November 20th, 20111:55 am
Agreed, the defense has really stepped up. Murray was off today and the running game is still iffy. We could have lost that game, but the D just gets better.
November 20th, 20115:49 am
So….how about Terry McGuirk?
November 20th, 20118:00 am
Hudson for opening day – just because he usually brings what he’s got and love’s being here. Sad that some of the boys can’t bring a smile to the clubhouse with the wages they make. Don’t begrudge their wages, just wish they could smell the roses now and again. All Professional sports figures live in a rarified atmosphere. Oh well, Go Wren – Go Braves !!
November 20th, 20118:17 am
The Braves are looking to add offense this winter, and John Harper of The New York Daily News reports that they let the Yankees know they’d be interested in trading for shortstop Eduardo Nunez last week.
Nunez is a long term answer at SS. With Pastornicky and Simmons in the system, it seems a little strange that they’d give up anything significant to bring him in. I’m not sure how they could think he profiles in a corner outfield spot – his bat does not play there, imo.
November 20th, 20118:29 am
Later in the article, Harper suggests Swisher, Nunez and a middling prospect for Jurrjens.
I’ve watched him play and I’m not sure I’d consider him anything that special. Perhaps they think he could be the type of player that plays SS and takes over for Chipper at 3rd in 2013. Or he takes on Prado’s role.
I don’t think we match up well with the Yankees. Their strengths in the farm system are starting pitching(Manny Baneulos, Delin Betances, Adam Warren) and catching(Jesus Montero, Austin Romine and Gary Sanchez). Two things the Braves don’t really need.
November 20th, 20118:32 am
That rumor had a couple of errors to me. He suggested that JJs est arb figure was $7M. He also proposed the trade of JJ for Nunez, Swisher, and prospects and stated that the Yankees should be happy with that. That seems like a substantial overpay on the Yankees end to me.
November 20th, 20118:40 am
They also said that the Braves will come down on Jurrjens asking price – I agree with this. I don’t think he’ll come down much, but I think he’d trade Jair for less than a “Greinke like package”.
Eduardo Nunez, Manny Banuelos, Slade Heathcott, and a minor league relief pitcher.
November 20th, 20118:41 am
braveslifer, agreed. Doesn’t make sense if Nunez is the key piece to the deal. If Nunez is the centerpiece than it makes sense that they’d add minor leaguers.
November 20th, 20118:43 am
A little Sunday Morning recap of NCAA from yesterday……
Dawgs do what was needed…. a win.
Thank God for a good defense… Now go beat the tekkies like you beat Ahhbunn….
Clemson just keeps regressing (loss to tek, last second field goal last week to beat Weak Forest, and got SMACKED IN THE PUSS by N.C. State last night…..
Interesting to see wuo South Carolina State champ will be… Lamecocks beat the Citadel (high school team) yesterday and if they beat Clemson next Saturday will be 3 in a row……
Virginia lives for another day by beating Fla. State in a wild finish. S.Cal upsets Oregon, Ok. State upset…..
GO DAWGS. Kick some yellow a s s next week.
November 20th, 20118:50 am
“Eduardo Nunez, Manny Banuelos, Slade Heathcott, and a minor league relief pitcher.”
This is much more realistic for JJ than what the writer proposed.
November 20th, 20118:51 am
I agree, however I hope it was the Yankees that started the talks. With Pastornicky and Simmons in the system, I really don’t see why there is interest in Nunez. I’d want a lot more than him too, in terms of prospects. He is not a LF, imo.
November 20th, 20119:02 am
After watching the Arizona fall league championship, i can see why we are interested in both Wil Myers and Tim Wheeler. if we could pickup both of them, along with Heyward, we would have the makings of good young outfield for many years.
November 20th, 20119:06 am
Yeah, and I’m just trying to match what a “Greinke like deal” would equal to. I don’t think it’s a great match. I’d demand Banuelos in that deal – but I wouldn’t expect them to add him.
November 20th, 20119:11 am
In six minor league seasons and over 2,700 plate appearances, Eduardo Nunez has hit .274/.318/.369.
November 20th, 20119:31 am
Braves want Nuñez in the role they had Infante before they traded him. Super utility capable of playing SS
November 20th, 20119:32 am
All the time Jurrjens has missed the past 2 seasons in my opinion drops the value below a Zack Grienke type deal. Gonna be hard to get a big return. Solid chance that someone will come close to our price with the thin pitching market.
November 20th, 20119:36 am
I wouldn’t have a problem with a Nunez-Swisher trade for JJ, I don’t know if Braves can afford Swisher’s salary. Might be best to go with Nunez and prospects.
November 20th, 20119:59 am
wife just informed me that if we had a billion dollars i could spend 500 million to buy the braves, man, i feel like i am half way there now.
November 20th, 201110:07 am
#braves long interested in nyy ss nunez (as john harper said). but him alone doesn’t rent jair jurrjens for a week. – Jon Heyman
Swisher and Nunez is a solid deal for the Braves, but given that Swisher is a free agent after next year, I’d rather Nunez + prospects for Jurrjens. Just have a hard time finding a match with their prospects, and I can’t see them dealing six years of control of Banuelos for two years of Jurrjens.
November 20th, 201110:13 am
Nunez is definitely the super-utility guy the Braves had in Infante with perhaps a little hope he turns into more. The guy played every position last year except CF, 1B and C, I believe. Of course, his SS/3B defense was not good at all.
Swisher makes $10+ mil next year before becoming a FA? Not gonna happen, especially with Bourn about to hit FA.
November 20th, 201110:15 am
Where would Swisher play? He’s a RF and I’m pretty sure we already have that position filled. As for Nunez, he’s awful defensively and his bat isn’t good enough to make up for that. Hate this trade.
November 20th, 201110:24 am
Would anyone be happy with Macier (not Ceasert) Izturis for SS? I do not know what his salary is, or who the Braves would give up.
November 20th, 201110:25 am
Wonder if the Braves would deal Jurrjens for Bartlett/Headley? Headley is ready to break out but needs to get out of Petco. (.864 OPS on the road last year…805 lifetime road OPS)
The Braves would have a LF and also a guy that can slide to 3B when Chipper gets injured, in addition to a guy that will take over 3B full time when Chipper retires.
I’d have SD pick up some of Bartlett’s salary in that deal but SD could use a #2 starting pitcher in that rotation.
Just thinking out loud this morning….
Coach (2011 Fredi G. FAILED)
November 20th, 201110:26 am
Wow, I have some oceanfront property in Arizona for sale, dirt cheap.
November 20th, 201110:31 am
nj: Probably not happening for many reasons. But I don’t think the Braves would deal Prado or Jurrjens in a deal for the super-sub.
Webster: Depends on what it would take to get him. $3.8 mil isn’t bad for what he brings.
November 20th, 201110:32 am
Coach: Name the super-utility guy we should bring in.
November 20th, 201110:35 am
Super utility guy…sure. Starting SS – I don’t think so.
November 20th, 201110:36 am
DOB: What’s the menu of coverage in the upcoming weeks for the blog? Just wanting to see what I should be looking forward to. I know the Winter Meetings are coming up soon.
Bla,bla, bla, bla, nothing sustancial!!!. with that limited payroll increase, unfortunately the Braves will be the same team with the same final result, meanwhile the Marlins are making big noise for the 2012 season so at this point they are a 3rd position team and forget about the willcard with the new rule.
November 20th, 201110:37 am
Coach: Pretty sure that’s what 90% of the bloggers are talking about (in terms of Nunez). His defense just isn’t there to be a starting SS.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
