I still can’t believe the Braves are the most talked about team in this young offseason. I thought this was going to be as dead a winter as ever. I thought next year was going to be bonkers.

Mac, wins a Silver Slugger Award, and people still want to trade him. Amazing…….leave it at that! Braves are not going to trade Mac who’s the top 3 catcher in the bigs………

after the collapse I figgered they would be talked about. I think we will see-have already seen- trade scenarios that are not based on a knowledge of the Braves, their needs and their way of doing business. “in a vacuum” so to speak as someone already said

nolie, that’s true. But ultimately, I think we will see both players dealt. I’d bet there will be enough interest in both. I also think that the reason this is even happening is because Wren and co. identified enough players on the free agent market that they could sign to fill the voids in LF, SS and on the bench.

As much as I would love to see Beltran happen, I don’t think they’ll invest that much in one player. They’ll sprinkle the 20 million around if they end up trading Jurrjens and Prado, imo. Not sure if that’s worth it, but I don’t see a big time free agent aquisition.

Trey, I was reading on the Fox Sports MSN.,and some blog guy wrote an article saying, maybe the Braves can sign Reyes, and he felt the Braves could sign him for 5 years 80 million, but it’s just his opinion. All kinds of things are being brought up!

Trey- I have heard 5 different things, and lots of speculations, and thats about it.

Efrim

November 5th, 2011

And I think the reason this is coming out now is that Wren wants to get this stuff done so he can focus on free agents or filling the voids once the hot stove season progresses. That’s the way he has seemed to operate in the past. Get these moves done so he has a good idea of what he can exactly spend and then go after his targets to fill LF and SS. Just my opinion.

$5M is a chitload of money for a backup infielder on a mid market payroll team. Just make sure one of our backup infielders can play 3B.

Again I really want to know what it costs us for a corner OF with an .800 ops – if we can’t find one that is = for less money or better for the same I’m with you his versatililty comes into play more (at least in my mind)

My father also didn’t care about baseball except that it was put him to sleep on saturday afternoons (golf was the trick on sunday’s).

I make the 2 previous statments mainly to point out that as much as I love my father I also realize he isn’t perfect. I also know I’m not perfect but I try to learn from others mistakes and help my kids with that knowledge.

We usually buy about 48 tickets per season (we’re 4) and we think that the Braves should keep their key LEADERS players, let’s reward them instead of getting rid of them. As a family we have decided that if the Braves trade Prado we are done with the Braves.

KC has two outfielders (Cain and Myers) that interest the Braves. KC apparently is not interested in trading a Myers, a prospect for JJ a proven major league pitcher. They would prefer to send Cain who had a good year in AAA but hasn’t shown he is capable of being a regular in the majors.

The Braves obviously are not going to trade JJ for Cain. The Braves should offer Todd Redmond a right handed starting pitcher that has been successful in AAA for Cain. The Braves get a 4 th outfielder that may be able to play CF when Bourn leaves. KC gets a starting pitcher for the back end of their rotation.

what really makes it sound/look bad is most games the 4th seat is for our bags (there are only 3 of us normally)
