Five time Silver Slugger behind the plate, HOFer at third base, ROY candidate at first, 35 home run hitting second baseman, All Star Martin Prado in left, the best base stealer in baseball in center, and, well, Jason Heyward in right… 89 wins, no playoffs.

Thank you Braves! Thank you Frank Wren!

Precious: you are correct! I saw McCann look foolish numerous times in September during the stretch run (no for the Braves I mean stetch/crawl), although the league thinks he is the BEST HITTING CATHER IN THE NL. I for one dont agree with it. I think McCann is very good, BUT HE HAS LAPSES WHERE HE FORGETS WHERE THE STRIKE ZONE IS AND LOOKS LIKE HE SHOULD BE PLAYING AA BALL OR MAYBE AAA BALL INSTEAD. McCann has great potential, but in my opinion he is not a major league catcher. GARY CARTER AND JOHNNY BENCH WERE MAJOR LEAGUE CATCHERS—- and certainly not BRIAN MCCANN.

The Braves season was so…so…disappointing. I remember when the Braves were about 40 games over .500 at the beginning of September when they had 88 wins and I projected that the Braves could finish the season BELOW .500 and still win 100 games this year. Instead of the Braves playing .500 and making the playoffs they decided to finish the year 1-28 and miss the playoffs–giving the Cardinals a chance when the Braves were still in contention for winning the division. In fact, when the Phillies went on their losing streak as the Braves were collapsing, had the Braves continued to play .500 ball, the BRAVES WOULD HAVE WON THEIR DIVISION. Instead, the Braves completed the worst collapse in baseball history, embarrassing themselves and making fools of themselves. NOW THE BRAVES WILL BE REMEMBERED FOR BEING THE LAUGHINGSTOCK OF BASEBALL.

Mike,
Control yourself. The Braves peaked out at 26-27 games above 500. Had they gone 500 from here, they would have won 94 games. They lost the last 9 games they played against St Louis and Philly. The people who are saying that had the Brave held on and won the WC, they would have won the World Series just because the Cards did both — quite a leap of faith given the waqy they were playing in Sept.

Anyone not Gary Carter or Johnny Bench not a major league catcher! Do some of the people on this blog actually have an IQ?

Bibi works here. I had no idea she was running around with Dan. Otherwise I would have put him in her movies with him wearing the top half of a Braves uniform.

Can any of you people that want McCann at first picture him making stretches and digging balls out of the dirt like Freeman. Each one of the three infielders would have 10 errors or more over a full season.
After a couple of games you would be all hollering to put FF back at first.
I knew Freddie would not win the gold glove even though noboby was better than him this year.

Braves just signed Jordon Parraz to contract with invite to Spring Training. He is a life time 286 hitter for 8 years in minors.
McCann is not the Best “D” catcher but a damn go hitter and leader for Braves. I like Mac but no-body is untouchable..I would trade him for the right returns but price would be high.
Freddy Freeman is a Super first baseman great “D” and “O” why would anyone wish to put MaCann over there.
Thanks Carroll for info.
Go Braves..

The Braves signed 27-year-old outfielder Jordan Parraz to a minor league contract Thursday and are expected to invite him to spring training. He’ll provide some depth in the outfield in Triple-A after the free agent departures of Wilkin Ramirez and Antoan Richardson. Parraz, a third round pick of the Astros in 2004, hit .289 with nine homers and 52 RBIs in Scranton/Wilkes Barre last year in the Yankees organization.

Mr Frank Wren if you can get Lorenzo Cain and Wil Myers from Royals.. DO IT!!!!! We all know about Cain and if Bourne don’t stay long term Cain could take his place. Wil Myers is a great kid, young, bat speed, pitch recoginition, arm strenght, Athleticism. Can catch and play outfield.
two players with speed and power..do it!

BRIAN MCCAN IS A “WANNABE” CATCHER who is actually a fly swatter masquerading as a catcher. Brian should take up a new hobby in collecting butterflies. He would do much better than being rewarded Silver Slugger awards, WHEN IN REALITY HE IS THE WORST CATCHER IN MAJOR LEAGUE HISTORY. The Braves have had at least 4 catchers in their history who were much better than McCann. Biff Porcorroba, Jave Lopez, Bruce Benedict and Greg Maddox’s personal catcher (Eddie Perez). Those 4 guys were a million times better than McCann. In fact I cant remember a catcher who played in major league baseball who McCann was better than. McCann stinks and should be traded away during the offseason.

I get so tired of the negative comments on this blog. You are either a fan of this team or you are not! You should applaud when a team member wins an award, whether he should or not. Do want to give back a win when the winning run scores on a wild pitch? NO! Fair weather fans are not needed here. Go root for the Cubs so you will really have something to complain about. The ownership situation is what it is, and management makes this team competitive almost every year. There are 29 other teams that don’t win the World Series every year. Look at how many of them are out of contention in May! You whiners make me sick. Even the Yankees don’t win every year. Look at the payroll for the Red Sox! The Tampa Bay Rays make the playoffs in the American League east with half of the payroll of the Braves! I’ll bet your wives have a few warts but you still love them. Get some perspective! Get behind your team or go someplace else. You can find a lot of your fellow whiners on the Mets website!!

There are so many bloggers on this site that are a million times smarter than MikeDevereaux. I’m pretty certain that he had someone else spell that name for him, because he can’t be smart enough to do it himself. He is actually an imbecile, masquerading as a blogger. He should take up another hobby as a fan of another team, perhaps in another sport. He would do much better at that than being a Braves blogger. MikeDevereaux stinks and should be traded to another blog this offseason.

McCann was sooooooooooooooo AWESOME!!!! this season. He belted so many home runs, drove in so many runs and threw out so many runners trying to steal on the basebaths that MCCANN SHOULD BE INDUCTED INTO THE HALL OF FAME WHEN HIS PLAYING DAYS ARE OVER. Is that what you want me to say? I wont say it. McCann stinks and will be a former Brave soon enough for my needs as soon as he is traded away for good.

I guess McCann can’t help it if no other National League catcher can’t hit worth a crap too.He needs to pick his average up…..Brian,Brian,Brian……….please help the Brave’s out by being more consistent and injury free in 2012!

I am pretty sure that McCann does not want to be injured in 2012. He most likely didn’t care to be injured in 2011. Telling someone to stay injury free is kind or moronic. Not to mention that he has a history of being very durable.

Trading Prado makes no sense. Why? Because Prado simply ended the year mired in a slump. Its not that he forgot to hit or anything like that. When Prado is on, he is hitting .370. When Prado is off, he can hit a basketball from the plate. What Prado needs to do in the offseason, muscle himself up a little more so he looks as strong as “Popeye”. If Prado beefs himself up another 15 pounds he will be strong enough to hit between 70-100 home runs per season.
