Trey–When I was your age, I used to run every other day to deal with stress. But a series of ankle injuries ended that. I try to exercise. I spend time with friends. I read. And (admittedly not something I would advise) I drink.
I think I mentioned this on here once before. Freud says that there are three primary ways for dealing with misery or stress:
* deflections–make light of our misery
* substitutive satisfactions–diminish it by focusing on something else
* intoxicating substances–make us insensitive to it
I would say that finding a substitute–something else that is more important is probably the healthiest alternative. Things like baseball, friends, or a hobby.

With Prado at LF that would be great for the whole year, and if Wren can’t get Cuddyer? He still plans to get a power bat…..I hope Mark DeRosa comes back.peace out!
Glad to hear, Ward. Hopefully the Braves can get a better player or two, this off season. We don’t need another team to choke at the end again. We need a team who can stay competitive until the playoffs.
Trey, Right on,and there could also be a trade for a power bat too……That’s if Wren can’t get anyone from the free Agent Market. He’s going to persue it hard, and Rollins, and Reyes wont be targets.
Yeah, but I think the Angels could end up with him,or some one like that? I settle for Kemp,if Wren could pull off a trade. My favorite would be Carlos Quentin, because we have Greg walker as the hitting coach now.
When they were wool this wouldn’t happen. The great “Sheep Strike” of 1971 changed everything. The sheep wanted to wear the coats long and flock to England to collaborate with Roger Waters about a new song. Baaa.

And even with that, when the Tigers made the late pick and Boyd threw that fade, I thought “OK, down 7 with plenty of time”, since the Tigers have run that play to perfection all year. I fully expected a score there. Watkins reads it wrong, and Tech makes the pick right back. Bummer.
Tech was simply the better team on the night. Congrats to them, and maybe the Tigers will get another crack at them later. I’d like that.
Cuddyer would most certainly be an ideal fit for what the Braves need, the only issue is the same every year. Money. They would need to free up some contracts for this to be even slightly feasible.
Its always money. You think with Lowe’s 15 mil coming off the books next year and Chipper most likely being gone as well we can afford a small increase in payroll for this season. The Marlins are increasing payroll by 27 million this season…
VaBraves – Couple of things. First – If Chipper plays like 125 games this year, his 2013 option automatically vests. Second – Heard that Wren has interest in Cuddyer, so maybe the money is available – especially if they backload the contract past 2012.
However, also heard he has interest in DeRosa and I can’t see them going for someone who played less than 75 games the past two years combined and none of them in the outfield (at least last year). He really doesn’t make any sense for the Braves’ plans.
Cuddyer would be a awesome pick up. Has the ability to play LF,RF,1B,2B,3B. Mashes LHP for sure. Good clubhouse guy. But right now I see alot teams having interest. Prolly get a 3 year deal as well.
How about Grady Sizemore (let’s assume money isn’t in play). Stick him in LF, put Prado back to super-UT guy. Gives us more versatility and a good defensive OF to boot.
Sizemore has the 7.5 mil option but the Indians are leaning to letting him go. Grady has all the tools to be a All Star OF still but can he stay healthy enough? There not willing to gamble for 7.5 mil so thats not to positive. I thought they would risk it and hope for a bounce back 1st half and then trade him before the deadline.
