In April 1995, the Expos traded Grissom to the Atlanta Braves, in exchange for pitcher Esteban Yan and outfielders Roberto Kelly and Tony Tarasco.

I’m glad of that, LAdy. Otherwise, my prognosis would have been – more VJ and less wine.

I can see I would’ve only been half right. ;)

Never thought it possible, but I may be softening towards TLR -

http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/45069500/ns/sports-baseball/

“A lot of those (new) stats and tools, they’re helpful when you prepare,” La Russa said. “But they eliminate to a great degree the human element, which is a big part of every day that you play.

“Some of those stats about you don’t bunt … let me tell you something, (against) some of these (pitchers), you try to get three hits, and you’re never going to score. And the better teams you play — like in the playoffs — you’d better find a way to advance the runner.

“Handling the bullpen, I can remember that the concept that there wasn’t anything special about the ninth-inning pitcher. Well, the ninth is different. I don’t know of any team now who hasn’t gone back to the understanding that the ninth is different. (You have) your closer, and then you build around that.

“My opinion is that a lot of people — not just fans, but owners — gave (the Moneyball principles) way too much credibility as far as how you scout, how you develop, and then how you end up playing in the big leagues. It’s a nice tool, but that’s all it is. It’s not as important as the human characteristic you have to think about all the time.”

He’s showing some improvement the last two days. If you want to ever check it out for yourself, just look at the wee, small hours of the overnight. Look for, Big Jake (his nephew). That’s when he has a little time to let us know.

“Oh you have me intrigued now about what may happen in American Horror…but I’m not going to read any future spoilers I like being surprised about the twists and turns.” Kat

It’s only a “spoiler” if you haven’t watched the first 4 episodes. I started reading the article in my Entertainment Weekly magazine, and realized it was talking about stuff that happened in last night’s episode. So i stopped reading until I watched it. Those mags do a pretty good job of not giving much away. Or I should say the shows do a pretty good job about not giving them enough information to be able to give anything away.

They just simply addressed what question most people have about the show right now…. which is how long they can continue centering it around the family they are centering it around.

I was just saying that to a friend of mine who also likes American Horror a lot. I mentioned to him how I was wondering if the creators could make it into a ‘long standing series’ if it was just centered around the house. It’ll be interesting to see.

This is the first report from his nephew, about 4 nights ago.

Nolie is in the hospital with several problems at once.
He is very resistant to insulin and to anti-biotics after so many treatments.
I think what seems to have happened was he had cellulitis again, and it turned to blood poisoning. which in turn aggravated his pancreas into another bout of pacreatitis(sp) and also caused another mild -at least so far-heart attack.
They are giving him a strong cocktail of anti-biotics because of his resistance and we need to see if it will cure the blood poisoning before it burns out his liver/kidneys.
Things seem to be looking a little better tonight.
That’s my limited understanding of the whole mess, though I might have gotten something wrong.

We’ve been getting a report from Big Jake each late-night. He is improving, but still in the hospital.
