cab–It was a very interesting conversation. I love all of the cuisines that you listed. I worked in some Greek olive groves and had wonderful Mediterranean food. I visited my brother-in-law in the Czech republic and had amazing Eastern European food, I have had my Korean sister-in-law cook for me so many times that I believe her food to be sublime. My in-laws have mad me insane Indian food. I have gone to Mexico with friends from there and been fed great comfort food. I am admittedly rambling–just saying that I agree with you that these foods are all great.

“Indian Chinese” is neither Indian nor Chinese. It’s just a higher spice level increasing in the order: Indian – “Manchurian” – “Szechuan”. Never tell a Chinese person that it is a variation of their food. It’ll be like telling a Mexican about Taco Bell and an Italian about Domino’s.

just read an article on the Sporting News about a porn star (Bibi Jones) who claims she slept with Dan Uggla while “working” for an agent trying to sign more clients. She claims she was never paid to do this, but that players sometimes signed with the agent after sleeping with her, how does Chipper and the Hooters girl sound now?

Lincecum is projected to have a 3rd year arbitration number of 19.2 million. Yikes. Can’t wait to see what his 4th year arbitration number is…. I mean, wow. Speaking of windows, I think the Giants have one of 2012-2013 given how dead set Lincecum has always been on going year to year. I suppose they can sign Matt Cain to an extension, as his contract is up after 2012.

N8 – Many of us believe there were valid reasons for the Chipper contract, and that is still justified. I won’t go through that again now. However, it is what it is (actually, I hate that phrase), so you might as well get over it and move on. Where you could spend the $14M is a moot point.

What’s the deal with Chipper and a Hooters waitress?
He fathered a kid w/ a Hooters waitress and destroyed his first marriage in the process.
However, to his credit he’s never denied any of this, and seems to have taken responsibility for what was a dumb mistake by a ballplayer in his early 20s. If you’ve ever seen him at a charity event with his family his son is usually right there with his wife and other children, and near as anyone can tell he’s been a pretty good dad.

Chipper’s ancient past is certainly irrelevant to his current situation. It falls squarely into the “who cares” category, as far as I’m concerned.
We all have made mistakes, especially when young. Those touting Andruw have certainly moved past the Gold Club episodes.

Nope. It’s about service time. He is still under club control for 2012 and 2013, but signing him to the previous deal was just about cost control over 2010-2011.

y’all misunderstood, I agree completely, but most of this particular group on here right now are pro-Chipper, but I can assure you there is a pretty hefty Chipper-hater contingent with Sonny Clusters at the lead that like to throw the Hooters stuff out pretty regularly, I just brought up the Dan Uggla thing to point out that a lot of these guys aren’t the nice people we want them to be, that was all I meant by any of it and yes, Chipper seems to be a good husband and father based on what I see these days and as long as what Dan Uggla does off the field has NO AFFECT on his on-field performance, i don’t care either, but what if some of that stuff was going on during his first-half poor hitting performance? What then?

Well, I grew up in a family of comedians… my dad did stand-up, my mom was a clown for Barnum Bailey Circus, my sister was great at impressions wrote several funny parody songs (some called her the female Weird Al)… and then there was me. Not funny at all. Into computers and gadgets. My family shunned me. Their fans mocked me.
So thank you, Mr BravesFanSince80’s, for bringing up painful memories for me. Really cool.

Besides pitching, shortstop is the position the Braves feel they now have the most depth in their minor league system, with Pastornicky and Simmons atop the list. Pastornicky is very close to being ready, and the Braves are quite high on him. So unless they’re going to trade him and then Simmons, too, it wouldn’t make much sense to sign a guy for 3-4 years. They could use a veteran for one more year, maybe less.

There’s this old priest who got sick of all the people in his parish who kept confessing to adultery. One Sunday, in the pulpit, he said, “if I hear one more person confess to adultery, I’ll quit!”
Well, everyone liked him, so they came up with a code word. Someone who had committed adultery would say they had “fallen”. This seemed to satisfy the old priest and things went well, until the priest died at a ripe old age.
About a week after the new priest arrived, he visited the Mayor of the town and seemed very concerned. The priest said, “you have to do something about the sidewalks in town. When people come into the confessional, they keep talking about having fallen.”
The Mayor started to laugh, realizing that no-one had told the new priest about the code word. Before the mayor could explain, the priest shook an accusing finger at the mayor and said, “I don’t know what you’re laughing about, Your wife fell three times this week.”
