Josh Willingham makes a good bit of sense. He’s a better option over a pure bench type player. You have to figure Chipper wont be playing 4 and 5 days in a row anymore. He’ll be lucky to get 100+ games. So you have to figure 50-70 games Prado wont be in LF. Also factor in Heyward who we have no clue if he’ll bounce back. Willingham has had 6 consecutive 800.+ OPS season’s. Not sure of his price and if he would be interested in this role or not.
Unless everyone is content with Hinske and Diaz sharing time out there when Prado plays 3rd. I’m not too excited about that option at all…

Everyone is looking for ways to add wild cards and playoff games, why don’t they just shorten spring training 2 weeks? It’s way too long, as players (most) don’t come to camp bad out of shape like they used to do.

World Series to be a tough watch for Braves
“I’ll flip on the games, but I can’t watch them,” Braves catcher David Ross said. “It still puts me in a bad mood and makes you wonder what might have happened. I know we weren’t playing well down the stretch. But it’s still tough.”

Saw this comment at the bottom of the link McFann provided, about Moylan saying he can’t really root for the Cardinals because they knocked the Braves out of the playoffs, but since their from the NL, etc….
I think this post pretty much sums up that lunacy:
“moylan is talking about not pulling for the cards because they knocked us out……uhhhh peter the braves knocked the braves out of contention. the cards put their big boy pants on and finished strong….nothing but respect for that ballclub.”

I mean, I can’t root for the Cardinals because I’m thinking, “That should be us!” But yeah, you can’t completely say they knocked us out of the race, because the Braves pretty much played like [crud] the entire month. It’s not like we lost the WC lead when the Cardinals swept us—had that been the case, then you could say that more. But as it was, well…the Braves had a lot to do with it as well…
I think that’s part of what made it so difficult, at least for me…

if the Braves can clear enough payroll, adding a big bat for LF should be a priority. If Prado is not traded he should return to a super utility roll filling in at 3B a few times a week, 1B once to twice a week to rest Freeman, and possibly 2B once a week or every other week to rest Uggla.
use Constanza as the 4th OF. Heyward, Bourn, LF, Constanza, and Prado could be 5th OF.
Prado’s bat is not strong enough for LF. As a superutility guy he is great. As a 3B he would be our Placido Polanco.

Did anyone see that a plane crash landed in Chamblee 2 miles short of the airport?
My very first flight instructor was a real character that had lived all over the world. I never forgot his favorite “old saying” that in all the languages in the entire world there was not one single word that would explain why you ran out of fuel in an airplane.
Some advice that this Cessna pilot could have used. He’s lucky he and his passenger lived.

tiger, if you’re using the 15 minute drive to the gym as an excuse, you’ll come up with enough of them to not use it even if it’s in your house. Just my take. Either you want to or you don’t.
It’s like if you’re on a diet and blame your family for making a big Thanksgiving dinner for you slipping up.
Will power and determination. I’ve got neither. Thus I keep having to be pants that are 1 inch bigger in the waste every year or so.

Key West has a theater but it never has 1st run movies. I’m not one that has to see a movie the first week it comes out though. I’m content to wait and that’s a heck of a lot better than going to Miami.

keylargo, I liked what Bourn said after the last game and how THEY beat themselves. He basically called his new team out and himself for the collapse. No sugar coating BS. He also seemed sick about it all. How can you not like him even more after that?

I’m for keeping Bourn at a reasonable price. 5/50 absolute tops, preferably less, he really did not hit all that well after we got him. .278 .321 .352 .674 is not very good for a lead off guy, especially that 321 OBP

the first year that Chipper came up he tried to get excited in the clubhouse late in the season and was put in his place by several veterans. that did not help. but the big thing is that his dad spent 16 years training him not to get real high or real low. how else is he likely to behave. and the last few years he HAS shown much more excitement when something good happens. if you haven’t seen that you are blinded by perception bias

Chipper has shown more fire these last few years, I’ve noticed that too nolie. Maybe as he has aged he’s gotten a bit edgier (like you are nolie) and doesn’t care as much. But, you have to admit the Braves way of conservatives is still a big part ofthis organization.

he had a career year going last season in Houston. He has never been a particularly good hitter, and I expect him to stay that way. 280/340/375 ish. ok, but not worth a whole lot of money IMO

he’s an 88 career OPS+ hitter who hit 87 last year for the Braves. Great D though which is worth something no doubt
