The braves should drop Jones so we don,t have to put up with the injuries.I would like to know just how many games jones sat out this year.He never was put on the DL like all other players and just sat on the bench and wait to pinch hit.Its really sad but he needs to GO.

DOB – Please keep up your good work. Even during this painful offseason, a lot of people are still reading. You know the sad thing – compared to Boston/NY, we Atlanta Braves fans turn off so quickly and do not seem to care about the future of Braves. The saying applies to the Braves management as well. Log on to Boston Glob and see how many articles they have and how much they care. The Braves organization is proud of steady approach, which in times of this has become “inaction”. That worries me and lots of fans. Wren said this about the hitting coach “during the season it is apparent not a good fit”. It tells a lot – the season is 6 months long, why did we have to wait THAT long to act? I am not sure how long we can survive if we fail to address any outstanding issues for that long in our jobs? For 99.99% people woring in corporate America, they would be out of job long time ago.

Ok anyone know the answer to the following:
-Whats the record for home runs in a post season game – Brewers v Cards up to 6 and its only the 3rd inning
-What about most pitchers used in a 9 Inning post season game – Milwaukee up to 3 and St Louis 2 and we are only in the 3rd inning.
I have no idea what the answer is, this is not a quiz, but does anyone know the answer – maybe Cards v Brewers will come close

I guess I have to ask this question once again to yet another ridiculously unrealistic fan, kevin: in your mind’s eye just how should a long-term professional athlete end their career? Is it fair to point fingers at an aging athlete whose spent their entire career with your team and turned in a HOF performance all those years? Don’t you think if he could be on the field every day and play at the high level he’s accustomed to, he would? Where’s your loyalty man? Or are you another one of those sports fans who only cheer when the trophy gets carried out?

Walker came under fire from the GM only..The owner and Ozzie backed Walker. Walker total the owner 4 weeks before season was over he was not coming back..Greg is also a good cummunicator and hands on guy if that means anything. Who every the Braves hire is up to Wrens and I expect it to be a good ole boy..from inside (are friend) with same old approach. We need some new ideas in this system..
Dave Magadan would bring a new idea…..so would Walker.

23rd and proud of it. All I know is that this Braves team – considering the drag on it from Chipper and Lowe’s paychecks (let’s not forget Kamakazi) – will be an 88 win team for the next 3 years plus and the loser announcers will continue to get on me and my family for not “getting behind this near playoff team by attending some games”. Sorry but I just don’t have the cabbage for that. Costs WAY too much for my family – not to mention the SUCK time spent getting to the Ted – to attend a lesson in mediocrity (sic) just so I can “get behind the Braves”. Heck, I could just go to a Falcon’s game…..No, wait a minute, that costs way too much too. Have fun multi-million $ players who sit out with a “sore labrum”. I will not be financing your sorry arses.

Michael,yeah that is weird Wren knew Parrish was all wrong pretty much the whole time, but he stayed all the way until the collapse was complete. Very strange. Souds like they wanted no part of possibly distraction the team with any firing, but there is a chance a firing might’ve helped prevent a meltdown like they had. Who knows for sure about that though. But yeah, weird stuff.

So the general consensus seems to be unless the team is winning, they are not worth supporting?
Where I come from this is called being a fairweather fan and these type of fans are usually scorned as lightweights – not real fans at all.
Being a sports fan is supposed to be heart breaking – you can’t win all the time.

Everytime when DOB reported how Jones is helping others improve their hitting (which is great by Jones) I cannot help but question – where is our hitting coach, and what is he doing? It does not take a rocket scienist to figure that something is terribly wrong and needs to be addressed.

Great hitters can shine the brightest in the postseason…and that’s a big reason the Braves haven’t sniffed the World Series in about ten years. They’ve had a few good hiiters, but no great ones and, especially recently, some pretty awful ones filling the daily lineup card.
One thing’s for certain; if the Braves (or any team) truly wish to win the World Series, it takes pitching AND hitting that are both consistent and dependable; hoping one is enough to suffice results in almost inevitable disappointment.

I agree, they aren’t exciting to watch for long streaks but I hold out hope as Spring training breaks. You never know. The Marlins did it on next to no payroll – lots less than the Braves. Keep saying your prayers…

I’ve been a Braves fan 45 years and there’s not much I hadn’t seen..the sad thing is all but one year its been “WAIT TILL NEXT YEAR.” No matter the GM, manager, owner, Walter, Peril, Victor, Mr Fisher,The Chief….its always been the same BS and Then Wait till NEXT YEAR!

Whenever I hear Longfellow, I always picture the house of my old roommate’s mother. The mother of my roommate when I was studying in Boston lived just down the street from the Wayside Inn. A couple of questions:
1. Starting pitchers- Commentators and others are all talking about the Braves being in terrific shape with starting pitching, but in desperate need of hitting. I agree with the hitting, but don’t agree with the starting pitching. Tim Hudson is the only current pitcher they have who is a chance each start to pitch seven innings. Jurrjens and Hanson should be able to do this, but have been too erratic to date, and historical and current injury concerns suggest it will be a while before either pitcher consistently pitches 7 innings. Then we’re left with the rookies. Gonzalez’s poor use of the bullpen has been blamed for so many of our relief pitchers burning out. While so many extra innings games didn’t help, I believe the main reason our bullpen being burnt out was due to the lack of innings pitched by our starting pitchers. In a full season, we had only 2 complete games. With the Braves’ starting pitching group as it is currently constructed, even with 9-10 suitors, our bullpen is not going to get any help next year. I think if the Braves want to have a chance of reaching the playoffs next year, they’ve got to protect their bullpen better and bring in one or two dependable innings eaters. I would look at using Lowe (Braves cover most of his salary), Jurrjens and one of our good pitching prospects to trade for one or two of these guys. What are your thoughts on this issue? If you agree, what pitchers do you suggest the Bravos could trade for?
2. Peter Moylan- Should the Braves release him?

Dismuke….not even a question. You need someone who has the respect of the club from day 1. Parrish never had that and we suffered. If not him then I would prefer someone who knows NL pitchers and can formulate a decent scouting report. Again….Parrish couldn’t do.

Because they are stupid….because the sky is blue…..take you’re pick. The fact that they didn’t send those players down doesn’t reflect as poorly on Dismuke as it does FG/FW/LP. They all assumed they could be helped at the ML level. AND THEY FAILED.
