Braves prospects Joe Terdoslavich (.529) and Cristhian Bethancourt (.500) are 1-2 in avg in ArizFallLeague.

Bethancourt is 8-for-16 w/ a double and 4 RBIs. Terdoslavich, as noted earlier, is 9-for-17 with three doubles, a triple and four RBIs.

I’m going out at end of the month to see those guys play a few games.

What I like is they way the Phillies go out ,and get the people they need. Have respect for that. The Braves Gm’s are some what Pathetic some times, but I’ll just have to keep hope alive…

It’s all related to money. If braves had 165mil payroll, CC Sabathia might be pitching for braves next year. Doesn’t make braves’ GMs pathetic.

I agree with you. I don’t think there is a more overrated GM in the sport.

I wouldn’t go as far as calling RAJ the most overrated GM in the sport. I think he’s made some really terrible decisions, but he’s also made some very good trades (first Lee trade, Halladay, Oswalt, Pence), and created an environment that attracts marquee free agents (like Lee last year). Of course, the Howard contract is an albatros that will hamstring the franchise for years, and the second Lee trade (to Seattle) was pretty bad.

With Chipper’s option being a vesting option, what happens if it vests but he retires at the end of 2012? Does he get that money regardless, do the two parties work out a deal, or does he forfeit the vested year?

Bat, have you read any of it? If not, I have a suggestion. There are two versions of the first book: the original, and an expanded version King wrote later. Read the original, if you have a choice. Leaner, less polished, (dare I say it?), grittier. :-)

Unbelievable? Really? Al Leiter came out and said the late 1990’s Mets had a porn room in their clubhouse. I remember hearing a story Leo Mazzone told about the clubhouse attendant bringing him a beer during games but hiding it in a paper cup so the TV wouldn’t pick it up. I think it’s naive to think this is a huge deal and is “unbelievable.” Not ideal but it’s crazy how much attention it’s getting. Many sports media outlets have become no better than the National Inquirer.

Rinold George “Ryne” Duren (February 22, 1929 – January 6, 2011) was an American relief pitcher in Major League Baseball.[1]

He was known for the combination of his blazing fastball and his very poor vision. With his thick coke bottle glasses, few batters dared to dig in against Duren. Casey Stengel said, “I would not admire hitting against Ryne Duren, because if he ever hit you in the head you might be in the past tense.”

I think offensively they’re good enough – Stubbs, Heisey, Bruce, Votto, Phillips, Rolen, Janish/Cozart, Mesoraco/Hanigan.

But you’re right, the pitching isn’t good enough right now – Cueto, Arroyo, Bailey, Leake, Wood, Chapman, Volquez. If they decide to keep Votto, I think you have to trade Alonso for pitching. Makes too much sense. Maybe adding Aroldis to the rotation will help. They need someone else to pair with Cueto.

I think he can be the centerpiece of a deal for pitching. They have an interesting situation in the rotation: Cueto, Leake and Arroyo(because of his salary) are locks. They could move Chapman to the rotation and then use Bailey, Wood or Volquez with Alonso to go get an arm.

Bat Masterson: Speaking about baseball, what do you think the Braves moves will be this off season?
I think Frank Wren will trade JJ to the Red Sox for Jed Lowrie and Josh Reddick. They are not essential pieces for the Red Sox, but I think Lowrie(Despite his injuries) has shown an slightly above avg, glove and a chance at being a switch hitting SS with a .280 avg. .330-340 OBA with a .700 OPs.
Reddick hits righthanders well, can play LF or RF and could be a good platoon OFer in LF even if he has trouble with tough LHers. Both, are still cheap at near 500K.
Many on the blog, don’t think that JJ will bring much, but I think they would take a flyer on JJ even with his injury history. Boston Needs Starting Pitching Depth BAD!
The trade would answer the Braves SS need and help in LF, but most of all free up enough money to possilby sign Cuddyer. If, that doesn’t workout, Reddick could platoon with Prado(against LHers) and Prado would still have the value of resting Chipper, Freeman and Uggla. The bench could be made better with quality depth if Cuddyer falls through
