Can’t quit now,” said Jones, who aggravated his knee running the bases in the sixth inning on Monday night but still went 2-for-4 with a home run and a double. “…I’ve been preaching all along, ‘People are tired. People are hurt. So what? Let’s go. Strap it up.’”
Jones said if it were April, he wouldn’t be playing. As it is, there’s not much he can do other than ice it and try to take it a little easier in batting practice.
Jones said he wanted to have the MRI to find out if there was anything more they could do to treat it. The tests showed his knee is still structurally sound, but without the cartilage removed in his arthroscopic surgery, he said he’s going “bone-on-bone.”
Anybody else plan on catching the documentary on the Steve Bartman debacle on ESPN? My previous channel button will be getting a work out tonight.
Biggest joke I’ve ever seen blaming that poor kid. Like nobody talks about the Stanley wild pitch before Buckner’s error, the other Alex Gonzalez makes a crucial error that would have been a double play and that kid’s life would have been normal. Such a joke fans getting all over that guy.
No, can’t do it. Too many in-game, non-baseball educated, not-really-Braves-fans LOSERS on here.
I’m headed to the TV and watch the game…while keeping an eye on the Rays.
You good blog folks have a great evening. Hey, there are at least three bloggers at the game tonight. Hope they have a great night.
I think Lowe really steps it up a notch. If he can at least match what he did last time out against Florida we should be fine. What a brutal September. But these are the Braves! I am 46 and been a fan since I was eight. I remember drinking beer with my buddies in the woods in Albany, Ny going on about how great Tommy Boggs, Larry McWilliams and Steve Bedrosian were going to be. Bedrock was, just not for us. Anyway good luck to everyone. Heyward comes up big. Go Braves!
Well I know it’s intense when I have my game day snacks and Braves clothing on an hour before the first pitch. But i’m ready! I think we pull this one off….
i thought at the start of the year it takes 91 wins to get in.
i also thought the fillys would only win 88
oh well it wouldn’t be any fun being right all the time
This has the making of Bears vs Packers last year……Bears had a chance to win at home again the Pack, but didn’t….the Pack came back and beat the Bears in the NFC Championship.
Where am I going with this?
Philly will falter, Braves get in………we take advantage of it and see Philly once more with everything on the line!
I reinstalled MLB.tv blu ray app today..hoping for better results. It gets weird watching a game 2 mins behind when I’m so tempted to refresh the blog or twitter to see ‘live’ what’s going on.
If you’re trying to get me to defend D-Lowe, it ain’t happening. He’s been awful.
But folks who act as though Teheran has been some sort of rookie sensation, on the part with Beachy at his best or Delgado at his best, need to slow down a bit, in my opinion. Kid’s not quite ready for this yet. Braves have been fortunate to have three rookies — Beachy, Minor, Delgado — perform well in some huge starts. No team has that many kids pitching for them in a stretch drive. Four rookies in a row in the biggest games of the season? C’mon. The Braves were not going to drop Lowe from the rotation and replace him with Julio Teheran in the biggest game of the season. Sorry, just wasn’t going to happen.
Well, I had a closed door meeting with the team before the game, and we all saw how that turned out. Tonight I’m staying home and rooting from my armchair, hoping that will change our luck.
Luck and some timely hitting……….and good work from Lowe for about 6 or 7 innings…..is absolutely required.
Look despite the homerun Lowe looks good. He has great movement in his pitches.
I don’t see Phillies scoring many runs aganist Lowe tonight.
If we can score 4 runs today then the game is ours.
