If you’re into humor…it is kinda hilarious that Alex Gonzalez is this team’s best hitter currently.
LEE MAKES THE CATCH FOLKS!!!!!!!!!!
LEE JUST SAVED OUR SEASON
Joe they have had a fat lip all season
Teheran seems much better than D-Blowe.
He should not be a option.
I do think Fredi and LP have had a negative impact on the team’s approach at the plate. But, I just can’t believe a single player hadn’t stepped up. Not one.
Slim to None and Slim Left Town-
No chance of winning? Well, good to know. Guess they can just scrap it and move on then. Thanks for letting me know. I was going to wait until they actually played the game, but since you say they have no chance, I guess I won’t.
Just a quick poll here:
Are people seriously angry that Fredi started Lowe. Talk about mailing in a game? Nothing else could have been worse. Or do people just not care anymore because the collapse is a fait accompli?
Listen, this has been a horrible collapse–but the Braves are a team that completely fed
off their pitching in the first half of the season, particularly the big three of JJ, Hanson and Hudson. The hitting has been problematic all year–though as the columnist pointed out they did get a lot of key
hits in the first half of the year and won a TON of close games. With their best pitchers out, the Braves tried to hold on but eventually their confidence just cratered. They might have held up losing only one starter, but not two. What’s been bad is that they’ve lost a lot of games this month to teams that aren’t very good. The wild card race will be tied after tonight, with tomorrow to decide it. Imagine having to face Lee and Oswalt and the Phils when you HAVE to win a couple of games. THAT is a cruel scheduling twist.
Derek mother EFFING Blowe! Who honestly didn’t see this coming? I am sick to my stomach right now over this. And our damn offense sucks!
if every single fan is capable of seeing that Lowe isn’t the guy you want on the mound right now with the season on the line, why can’t Fredi?
Anihiliation of fredo’s career nothing could be finer just keep on fredo, someone will laugh your fatass outta town!
September 27th, 20118:43 pm
So, is my math right? The Braves have scored 2 runs in the last 33 innings?
Trey: You’re really going to feel like an idiot when you realize you didn’t use the correct form of “you’re”.
Trey, you are really going to feel like an idiot when you realize that you just assumed that guy will realize he used the wrong form of you’re.
Should have started Teheran…
I guess we now know who should have started this game
Fire Larry Parrish
And Teheran didn’t start this game, why?
Teheran was nasty…
Lee in S GA
not sure if this team could win if the bookies paid the other team off right now
SRF, luckily Kawakami is no longer on the Braves after this season.
P B Orr
TnBrian is right about next spring. Gonzalez will be an ongoing catastrophe – neither the fans nor the players will respect him and it will be awful. After Philly’s epic collapse under Gene Mauch in 1964, he was never the same. He was “that loser manager”. The Phillies got worse and worse until Mauch was fired and didn’t really recover for 12 years. This isn’t just bad baseball. This is bad business. They have to get this out of their system and fire him. No choice.
4 more innings to go braves i know yall can do it. NOT.
If Freddi get’s Tennis Elbow from tipping his hat, who fills out line up card tomorrow?
September 27th, 20118:44 pm
Is asking for 2 more wins too much for Astros? Looks like they want to kick STL out of this!
cabravesfan – Bringing your witty, snarky, positive A-game tonight. I like it.
“And Teheran didn’t start this game, why?”
Derek Lowe, that’s why!
stizz (Braves & Falcons fan til death)
Give guys millions of dollars and they can’t stay in shape.
Give guys millions of dollars and they can’t watch hours of film to correct their faults.
Give guys millions of dollars only to hire guys who have never had experience as a hitting coach to teach them.
1957 Braves Fan
At least Kimbrel is getting a lot of rest,
Yeah that’d have been a bad idea to start Teheran over Lowe. Sure. He only throws 95 and has fire. He could’ve gone a few innings, then let a combo of maybe Medlen and Vizcaino bridge the gap between EOF and Kimbrel.
Not Fredi though. It’s too simple I guess.
Now maybe the outcome would be the same as now, but Lowe gives you NO chance at all.
Trey – well at least that is good news…
Everyone whats to know what is wrong with this team. And all the talking heads have different answers. There is only one very simple answer in my mind. Coaching. Or lack there of.
It started with approach. The offensive approach. This ENTIRE team has gotten away from being patient and trying to hit a homer every time up. The coaches even admitted to telling the guys to be more aggressive. As the season wore on and multiple players were encountering huge slumps, no real adjustments were made. And now they are playing some of their worst baseball all year. They cant seem to score at all. Now it is in their heads. The WHOLE TEAM is in a huge slump. Mentally they are screwed. The coaches are responsible for turning a team around. The Braves are MILES better than they are playing, and its up to the staff to motivate them and get them back on track. No such thing has happened. Fredi doesnt know what to do. He is just as lost as the players.
Inefficient pitching, overworked bullpen, … all of it can be brought right back to this teams inability to put runs on the board.
The staff needs to go. Period.
This game is much easier to watch knowing we don’t have a shot at winning this one.
Worst come to worst we go tied tomorrow.
where;s KK when u need him
September 27th, 20118:45 pm
Cardsfan, whether we can score or not, won’t give you the win over the Astros. Are you just stupid? win your game and then you can talk. Until then, my friend, you are chasing!
how is this Fredi G’s fault? The monumental collapse certainly wasn’t going to be averted by a pitching change at a different time; or a lineup change.
Anyone who thinks that (and I see many of you seem to), obviously never played baseball at any competetive level (or any sport at a competetive level for that matter).
You are just making him into a convenient fall guy because its easier than calling the whole team out.
“Would anything they do in this year’s playoffs be worse than the 1996 World Series? Or even, for that matter, the 2000 NLDS?”
Perhaps not, but a turd a bit smaller still looks like and smells like a turd.
Oswalt struck out Heyward to start inning and Bourn to finish it, and neither of them swung at a pitch. Heyward looked at all four pitches, Bourn looked at six.
Was it the Lion or Tin Man who said if I only had a heart? No way I let this team continue to bitch slap me without putting up a fight.Heartless, gutless, clueless, cowardly, and going south fast as an organization. This all time worst choke will give some cover to the 14 playoff chokes in years past.Mark Wohlers all is forgiven.
“Trey, you are really going to feel like an idiot when you realize that you just assumed that guy will realize he used the wrong form of you’re.”
Your name is Jersey Choppin, so assuming you live in Jersey, what do I care what you think? By the way, that was the incorrect form, as you know that’s what he meant.
3 in the 6th? 3 in the 7th?..lmao
September 27th, 20118:46 pm
I’m always snarky and always positive. I am occasionally witty. All the negative is getting to me tonight so it seems a good time to attempt the triple combo posting
Teheran has one good inning and he’s the savior. Had the kid been pitching well enough he’s still in the rotation but he did not do what Delgado did, he struggled.
DOB, can you confirm the rumor that Fredi is considering sending Lowe back out to the mound for tomorrow night’s game as well?
If Lowe ever starts another game for this team it will be a complete failure. Tonights loss will be his 17th of the seaon. 17 losses!!! for a team that is 18 games over .500. He’s not a ML pitcher.
okay phredd…..if u really dont think we’re gonna win tonight your just dumb….its wayyyy to early…last night was a fluke…trust me…ill be here around 11 gloating
Ibanez with a classy move checking on the little fan.
T for Texas
Dang. That dad has got to make that play.
Slim to None and Slim Left Town
September 27th, 20118:47 pm
So, cabravesfan, when the season DOES end for the Braves tomorrow, I guess you’ll be all “Miss Sunshine” and say, “well, they had a good season. They did win 89 games.” Or will you be able to admit that this team is the failure that it is?
and your name is Trey. Enough said.
Trey, be nice I’m from Jersey too. Lots of loyal Braves fans here
We know how you feel kid. We have been hit in the face a ton by this team.
Runningback by committee? Braves should have employed this strategy with their pitching staff tonight….from the very start, a young arm with some zip anyone? Sure it goes aqgainst conventionable wisdom–however, why not play it like an all-star game and see what happens…something, anything but this repetitive woefullness.
You guys need to stop caring about today, rest up cause you need to care about tomorrow! lol
The minute Lowe gave up the homer you all became Astro fans…admit it!
COME ON HOUSTON SCORE 1 MORE.
WE HAVE SHOT OF SCORING 2 MORE RUNS.
BY WE I MEAN THE ASTROS
WE ARE THE ASTROS
September 27th, 20118:48 pm
cardsfan, why don’t you show up even if your birds lose?
ill be here around 11 gloating
And if you lose, will you be here at 11 saying you were wrong?
“Oswalt struck out Heyward to start inning and Bourn to finish it, and neither of them swung at a pitch. Heyward looked at all four pitches, Bourn looked at six.”
That’s actually a slight improvement over swinging at the first pitch and popping it up, which is what everyone else in the lineup does. I wish everyone in the lineup would see six pitches every time they go up to bat.
let’s get about 20 hits in a row
Bogusevic doubles. Runners 2nd and 3rd 1 out.
Astros bases loaded 1-out again.
COME ON WALLACE!!!!!!!!!!!
Certainly more Braves fans across the country than those that fail to show up at Turner field.
dont have to worry about that trey….wont happen
This game is lost – why aren’t we saving Teheran for the bullpen tomorrow night? Stupidity reigns!
odds that chipper hits a weak grounder?
September 27th, 20118:49 pm
I think I’ll become an astro fan.
Better chance Astros winning two then us winning one. It’s true!!!
And what the hell has happened to prado???
Houston 3 – St. Louis 0
Bottom of the 3rd
3-0 Astros. Score some more boys!
The A Bomb
COME ON LETS GET A SAC FLY AND A 4TH RUN
Intentional BB to Carlos Lee. Loaded.
Whoever “B. Bogusevic” is, he has been the Braves’ best player over the last game and a half.
“let’s get about 20 hits in a row”
are they planning on singing together like the Chicago Bears did? … the only way they’ll be getting 20 hits in a row
westbrook=lowe and I like it!!!!
Jake W…..Just shut the eff up already. We all know you have a man crush on Lowe. We get it. Teheran was a better option than your boyfriend tonight, sorry.
Manuel can’t make any judgement for oswalt against this minor league lineup
JerseyChoppin. Do you know if Trey is even my real name? I thought so. You are a bigger moron than cardsfan.
Cardsfan!!! What wrong with your team?
September 27th, 20118:50 pm
Somebody put Fredi Gonzalez on suicde watch.
He’s lost his will to live.
Starting Derek Lowe in a must win game (or perhaps a “please win” game) is a clear sign he’s in a state of delirium.
Somebody needs to reach out to him. He’s no doubt feeling an overwhelming sense of hopelessness.
Or maybe he just has mild retardation.
“WE ARE THE ASTROS”
Do we get Bourn back?
Our offense still is looking icy cold.
I would be disappointed, sure. But I’m not going to let my life be ruined by baseball. The will still shine, the world will still turn, I will be able to move on and not dwell too long.
At least the roads in ATL will be save tonight without DL driving after a locker room celebration. Why cant DL get a ND at least. The guy has 11 loses in 15 games. Coaching is putting your players in a position to win, when DL starts Fredi is not doing that.
Astros up 3-0!
Jersey Choppin, I have played organized baseball, I can say without a doubt Fredi Gonzalez is one of the WORST managers I personally have ever seen! Period!, with that said I will call out Lowe, Heywad, Prado, Uggla, Gonzalez,Hanson, Jurrjens,Linebrink, and any other GUTLESS bum not named Freeman,Beachy, Kimbrel, OFlaherty,Bourn or Venters!
In Fact I hated that damned Uggla trade then just as much as I do now!
its still early phredd….give it time
I’m the stros fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chris from the Rock
Astros up 3-1.
GUYS THAT 4TH RUN IS HUGE FOR THE ASTROS. NEED TO GET 4TH RUN IN
September 27th, 20118:51 pm
Its sad that the Astros are playing with more heart & fire then we are.
Why do I cafe so much about this team and the damn collapse?
Hey big scren operator, flash an image of Cuba and a phone number on the big screen.
Maybe that will get Fredi fired up.
At least we’re getting beat by the best team in baseball this time, just imagine this blog if we were doing this against the Stros.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
