Braves reliever Peter Moylan passed the biggest test of his minor league rehabilitation assignment Wednesday night when he completed his first back-to-back appearance for Triple-A Gwinnett. Moylan pitched a scoreless inning in Norfolk, allowing one walk, one night after striking out all three batters he faced Tuesday night in Durham.
Moylan is scheduled to pitch one more time for Gwinnett on Saturday and if all goes well, he’ll return from the disabled list when the Braves open their series in Philadelphia on Monday.
Moylan has been out since April 15, before undergoing surgery for a herniated disc on May 17. He’s maintained that his back has given him no issues throughout his recovery, and he has the numbers to prove it. Moylan has thrown six scoreless innings with five walks and seven strikeouts, allowing only two hits.

do you think Lowe knows it’s not September yet? ……he decided to bring his September Game to the park tonight. Guess he decided to start performing a day earlier than last year.

Great news, can’t wait to have Pete back with the big league team. He’s been missed…shores up our RH pitching depth issues and now Fredi doesn’t have to use LINESTINK in close games.

I am not sure any team is looking forward to facing the Braves bullpen in the playoffs…..and especially if Moylan comes back healthy. Starters will only have to go a good 4 or 5 innings in each game. If you aren’t ahead in the 4th or 5th…..forget it.

Linesuck will be with us until the roster is cut back to 25 men for the post season unless he is cut to make room on the 40 man roster for Moylan when he comes off the 60 day DL saturday. Cross your fingers.

Moylan’s back!!! With EOF, Venters, and Kimbrel (and even Viscaino) and now Moylan, it may not matter if our starters only go 5 IP. What a great addition!
