I went to Citizen’s Bank Park for the first time earlier this year. It’s really similar to Turner Field as far as the seat setup, with the exception of a bigger upper deck area in the outfield, and a more “open” feel to seats at the top of the bottom bowl (the upper deck doesn’t extend as far over the lower level as it does at Turner Field). The sight lines of most of the seats seemed really good….we ended up sitting behind home plate in the middle level (similar to the Lexus/Golden Moon Casino Level at Turner). It was a LITTLE difficult to see the entire foul territory in left field if I remember correctly, but overall we were able to see pretty much everything.

Aw man, Lew – sorry to hear that. Best wishes to him, hopefully, they got all of it.
September 1st, 201111:22 am
Wilson’s biggest asset to this team is so that if we get decimated by injuries like we did last year, Brooks Conrad doesn’t have to pick up a glove. He’s on the team so if Alex comes up gimpy on the last day of the season, we aren’t screwed by having Julio Lugo starting a playoff game. He’s simply a good insurance policy.
N8, I really like Target,
Aha..so under all that leather and BBQ sauce, DOB’s a yuppie…
Thanks Soph. It’s been tough on him. Got lots of support from family and friends, though and the medical end of things has been little short of amazing – both the hospital and all his doctors..
September 1st, 201111:25 am
Thanks everyone for the input on CBP. Very much appreciated.

Lew, Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
September 1st, 201111:28 am
the Phillies are about to put an the Braves old question…this has been a great regular season run for them….but how will that translate in the post season?
JRW- Thanks – It’s a lot harder to deal with when it’s your kids (even if he’s not really a kid anymore). Rather it were happening to me instead of him.

When do postseason tickets usually go on sale? Around last week of September? I’m from Austin, TX and plan to head up to Atlanta for my first time.
Hope to see good pitching in Philly next week. I just don’t think the Braves starters are real close to the Phillies starters right now. Although the way it lines up now it looks like the Braves will miss Halladay and Hamels. Looks like it will be Lee, Worley, Oswalt.
September 1st, 201111:32 am
I know exactly where your coming from Lew. Good Luck to you.
September 1st, 201111:35 am
I’m from Austin, TX and plan to head up to Atlanta for my first time.
Had a little accident this morning. Slight confrontation between my right ring finger and a hydraulic log splitter. Needless to say, the log splitter won.
Lowe vs Lee on Monday then Hudson vs. Worley and finally Beachy vs. Oswalt if nothing changes with the call ups.

Headline of the day award goes to Talking Chop for “Little Ditty About Jack and Diaz…”
I just don’t think the Braves starters are real close to the Phillies starters right now.
Man, don’t you ever get tired of that “We’re not worthy!” thing, LOL?
September 1st, 201111:37 am
I think it goes to Freeman anyway because full time position players seem to get the writers votes..
True, but Neftali won it last year when he had 40 saves. And although Freeman is having a “good” year, Kimbrel is having a “record” year.
September 1st, 201111:39 am
BRAVES win 96. Phillies best them in the win column by at least 10. Been saying that since mid-July.
September 1st, 201111:40 am
I’m predicting we get 3 runs off Lee on Monday.
Those log splitters can be a formidable foe, huh?
Wilson vs Gonzo
I realize that Wilson has been a great glove man in his career. But, as good as Gonzo has been defensively and what his defense means to this staff, if he will re-sign, why would you want to go a different direction?
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Shaun, what do your stats tell you about Uggla’s performance hitting cleanup vs in other spots in the order? I might be wrong, but I believe he is raking while hitting 4th and doing little while hitting elsewhere in the lineup.
Perhaps, despite the stats, he feels more comfortable there. I’m guessing nobody has told him that he shouldn’t feel comfortable there, because his projections indicate he’d be a better #3 hitter… so don’t you go telling him that and getting into his head.
September 1st, 201111:42 am
Just so long as we have more W’s than the Phillies in October, the rest of the season doesn’t matter.
Playoffs are short series in which either team,Ala hot hand, can win. Those wanting to give up before they start please switch to football.
September 1st, 201111:43 am
Scoots, Nothing to do with being “Worthy” just seeing all of the goose eggs and strikeouts to walks from that staff lately. And the fact that the Braves starters seems to be leaking a little oil lately (compared to pre All-Star break). Just timing. maybe it will even out more by next week.
September 1st, 201111:44 am
Don’t get him going. Even if it’s a joke, he’ll never notice.

Lee shut out Cincinnati, the second highest run scoring club in the NL, yesterday. Has a 6 game winning streak with a 0.45 ERA in August. I guess it’s sensible to predict 3 runs against him Monday.
September 1st, 201111:46 am
The log splitter sustained no damage at all.
Dback – It didn’t show up.
Too many times in recent history (past 15 years), the team that is hot going into the post season usually comes out with a World Serious ring!
Soothsayer Matt Diaz Still a Mystery | blacxbox.com
[...] saw this solid article from David O’Brien about Diaz. In which he said this…The Braves will send the Pirates a player to be named later, likely from [...]
DS1 – I’m predicting we get 3 runs off Lee on Monday.
That would be real good considering he’s only given up 2 runs in the whole mont of August.
September 1st, 201111:47 am
JRW, just saying that my perception is that you start out every morning with some post about the greatness of the Phightens and the lesser-ness of the Braves. Every…day.
(Certainly, I could be wrong about the frequency. Might just be my bias showing, LOL.)
September 1st, 201111:48 am
I think T-Pain plays the majority of next year in Gwinnett. He still could use some seasoning and I find it hard to believe that the Braves would play opening day with three 22 year olds in the starting lineup.
My prediction is based on the fact that we have always hit him OK, plus I am an unapologetic homer…….
Try again, I reset the privacy setting.
September 1st, 201111:49 am
Mudge Cincinnati was the NL leader in runs until the Phillies showed up three games ago.
September 1st, 201111:50 am
Braves may have to trade Jair or Lowe and non tender Moylan to get their payroll in a comfortable place.
DBack – Nasty. Don’t you hate when that happens?
September 1st, 201111:51 am
Its just a flesh wound.
Just got back from an errand, and now I see Shaun is trying to start up the old optimal batting order argument. (roll of eyes).
JRW and Mudge
Sounds like Lee is due for an ole fashion arse whuppin’ to me ……..
I think T-Pain plays the majority of next year in Gwinnett.
I thought he was “The Rev”. I gotta get some nickname low-down here.
” love it in the Hotel California intro (on the video) when the crowd finally realizes what song they are playing……..” DS1
Wayne, I agree. Gives me chills everytime. Still like that CD, though I find myself skipping some of it. Some of the Glen Frey slow country ballad type stuff puts me to sleep.
September 1st, 201111:52 am
Scoots. I probably (surely) keep a closer eye on what they do night to night because it looks more and more like the Phillies and Braves are on a NLCS collision course.
September 1st, 201111:53 am
I like “The Rev”……..
Minor league season ends on Monday. Worst day ever…..
DS1, Anyone can be beat on any given day.
Natahn – I saw Don Henley some years back and they did a lot of the old Eagles’ tunes. Had Mike Campbell from Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers on guitar and Bruce Hornsby on keyboards. Great show.
I’m using T-Pain. I don’t care what any of you say, dammit.
Zackly. It ain’t August anymore, boys. Growed-man time. And the Braves aren’t the Reds.
Yes I do, especially since I had an almost identical accident several years ago involving my right index finger and a break press. But, I’m blessed that i still have both fingers.
September 1st, 201111:55 am
Squirrel’s in first! Go ahead, CB.
DBack – Maybe a moratorium on heavy machinery would be in your best interests?
what’s for lunch everybody? I’m thinking Zaxbys.
September 1st, 201111:56 am
Yeah, that “Girl from Yesterday” and a couple of others are definite “skips” for me.
And I flat out love watching Felder and Walsh playing……..
I would have been a professional picker, if I’d had a little bit more talent……..
In case anybody missed my late night question I’ll ask it again. Not trying to be annoying, just looking to help my son out.
If anybody knows of a place in the Atlanta area where I can order a poster that has Kimbrel and Venters together (or with O’Flaherty on it if they’re marketing it that way), or even one of Kimbrel or Venters alone, shoot me a link or a way of getting ahold of the store,
I can’t find anything online. Just sites that have multiple old posters like Justice, Gant, Glaving, Chipper, etc….
Thanks if anybody can help.
I thought it was “Preach”
Certain if Cox were here he’d just be “Nicky” which would rival Kimbrel for the most effeminate nickname on the team.
And Marie Antoinette just had a sore throat.
September 1st, 201111:57 am
mmmm pbj. with bacon?
Nossir. No “Nicky”. Can’t have it. Won’t do.
September 1st, 201111:58 am
what’s for lunch everybody? I’m thinking Zaxbys.
Zaxby’s owns us.
Lew – Sorry to hear about your son..prayers will continue. I guess the silver lining is that if they saved the toe, the diagnosis would have been delayed.
Nathan – I’m working on a drawing of the three of them. Figured there would be a minor amount of demand for one.
“I’m using T-Pain. I don’t care what any of you say, dammit.” – Efrim
Sometimes you just have to take a stand, Ef.
THAT’S what I’M talkin bout!!!
That might be a good idea.
September 1st, 201111:59 am
Lew and Wayne, I’m a huge KISS fan, and when I was younger got into all of their compilation and concert dvd’s (actually most of it was on VHS), and used to love all the interviews and stuff.
One of my favorite Paul Stanley lines in one of those interviews where he was tooting their own horn, went something like…..
“We were bigger than life in the 70’s, you wouldn’t have seen Marvel Comics presents The Eagles
Cracks me up when I think about a comic with Joe Walsh wearing a cape.
scoots, I’m of a similar opinion on “Kimmie”.
raleighbraves Thanks. Yeah, maybe the results would have been considerably worse had they waited.
September 1st, 201112:00 pm
“Nossir. No “Nicky”. Can’t have it. Won’t do.” – scoots
Better than “Pasty” or Taylor-y.
Lew, that’s really cool. I might have to work out a deal with you to have a big one printed or hit you up for permission to have my photo lab print me a big one. You know I would never take advantage and use it for profit. Well… I guess maybe you don’t know that, but I’m telling you I wouldn’t do that. LOL.
Fish – Everything is better with bacon…even bacon.
Amen! (can’t wait to get back in SC next week!!!)
I’m of a similar opinion on “Kimmie”.
Yes. Horrendous. Baby-faced or not.
September 1st, 201112:01 pm
Nathan – Yeah, I hear you. Went to an Old Timers’ Game in ST. Pete at Spring Training some years back with Kevin Costner and Tom Selleck playing with the NL and AL respectively.
Walsh and Glenn Frey did the National Anthem on acoustic guitar. Walsh was so stoned he could barely sing. Not so sure I would have equated him with a Super Hero that particular time.
How about Kim-eeee? eee’s make everything better.
Yup. Nicky, Preach and Rev don’t work for me. Although I do like Rev. Reminds me of Remember the Titans.
September 1st, 201112:02 pm
Half a page on Tyler Pastornicky’s nickname. I love it.
Can I vote for TP Jr. for Pastonicky?
September 1st, 201112:03 pm
Nathan – Yeah, I’d do that. I’ll let you print as many as you want if you can do me a big print for myself. Can you work from jpegs?
Efrim, it’s cool. I’m pretty sure the CBA allows nicknames to be in flux until a certain amount of service time is accumulated.
“Half a page on Tyler Pastornicky’s nickname. I love it.” – Efrim
And they say America’s in an intellectual decline….
September 1st, 201112:04 pm
Beats virtual rotation spots and lineup optimization, LOL.
raleighbraves – Better with bacon or cheese. Even bacon is better with cheese.
September 1st, 201112:05 pm
Murph, actually over the course of his career Uggla has performed better in the number three spot than the number four spot in the order. But I seriously doubt there is a significant difference for him regarding comfort level or anything like that in one spot versus another.
September 1st, 201112:06 pm
I’m pretty sure the CBA allows nicknames to be in flux until a certain amount of service time is accumulated.
Hah! That’s awesome.
September 1st, 201112:12 pm
what’s for lunch everybody?
Deer spaghetti. Solid, but not spectacular.
September 1st, 201112:14 pm
Absolutely Lew. Everything I end up doing with the sports photos are from jpegs. One of the labs that I use for my 16×20s that I do of my kids each year, has some really cool canvaas type finishes and laminates that they can do to make photos look like old paintings or kind of vintage. So I’m guessing one of your drawings would look awesome with one of those. Almost too many to choose from. We try and do a different one every year to change it up. Some are better than others.
But yeah, when you get it done, shoot me an email and we’ll work it out. I’ll buy yours for you as a gift in return for you doing all the work.
September 1st, 201112:15 pm
Is just “The Pastor” to simple and obvious or something?
Lew, Don Henley did an outstanding song with Roger Waters on his (Waters) Amused to Death album several years ago. Ever heard it?
I can’t view the video here at work so I hope this is it.
T for Texas
September 1st, 201112:16 pm
I thought T-Pain was Teheran. Now, Efrim’s posts on the Player-To-Be-Nicknamed-Later make more sense to me.
September 1st, 201112:17 pm
Murph killed one with his bare hands the other day..
Can I vote for TP Jr. for Pastonicky?DS1
I went through about 25 years of my life being known as “TP.” Took me forever to shake that one. I don’t recommend it.
Deer spaghetti. Solid, but not spectacular.
The Mike Minor of lunches.
