About the Braves:

• Batting: Chipper Jones is 21-for-50 (.420) with a .720 slugging percentage in his past 14 games, and has four homers and nine RBIs in his past 11. Against the Mets, he’s hit .326 with five homers and 13 RBIs in his past 13 games, including three homers and 10 RBIs in 10 games this season…. David Ross is 2-for-7 with a homer against Capuano.… Jason Heyward is 5-for-27 (.185) in nine games at Citi Field, but two of the hits were homers. He also has five walks at the ballpark.

• Pitching: Hudson is 8-2 with a 2.03 ERA and .204 opponents’ average in his past 13 starts, including 4-0 with a 1.49 ERA in his past five. He pitched seven scoreless innings of three-hit ball in Sunday’s win against Arizona. The veteran is 6-3 with a 2.89 ERA in his past nine starts vs. the Mets, and 4-1 with a 2.90 ER in five at Citi Field…. Scott Linebrink has a 4.05 ERA and.358 opp. average in 17 relief appearances in July and August, allowing 19 hits, two homers and eight walks in 13-1/3 innings.

• Miscellaneous: Michael Bourn matched a career best with four hits Thursday. It was the sixth time he’d done it, third this season, and first since being traded to the Braves…. Brian McCann had two homers and four RBIs Thursday, his third multi-homer game this season and second four-RBI game this season. His career high is five RBIs… While Ross has had success against Capuano, several Braves have not. Dan Uggla is 2-for-11 with seven strikeouts against him, Bourn is 2-for-11 and Chipper Jones is 1-for-8.

About the Mets:

Against Hudson, Angel Pagan is 9-for-20 with a homer and Jason Bay is 7-for-20 with a homer and five walks.

• Pitching: Capuano is 1-4 with a 5.73 ERA in his past eight starts. He’s 2-3 with a 3.35 ERA in eight games (six starts) against the Braves, but has faced them just once in four seasons, in a one-out relief appearance in April…. The Mets have a league-worst 5.02 ERA since the All-Star break.

• Miscellaneous: Jose Reyes (hamstring) is on the DL and hasn’t played since getting hurt at Atlanta on Aug. 7. The speedy shortstop was a Braves nemesis before the injury, batting .354 with three doubles, three triples, eight RBIs and seven stolen bases in 12 games against them this season…. The Mets are 3-11 with a .238 batting average and 5.73 ERA in their past 14 games. They’ve given up six or more runs in eight of those games, including nine or more runs in four.

DOB, also how is Georgies speed today? Saw him come in to pinch run for Chipper in 9th last night. But as we know, he didn’t get a chance to show us while Heyward proceded to strikeout to end game.

Chipper can keep playing if he wants to. He is a beast.
For everyone who wants Chipper to go away and the team to play Prado at third: he only made 4 errors at third while Prado made 5 in 36 games. Chipper’s average is 281 vs. Prado’s 272.

I still can’t believe Georgie recovered so quick from his run in at 1st base days ago. That was ugly looking.

Hope we can just carry this momentum into NY, squeeze in a double header, give the guys a two day rest. Either way, Braves are playing great baseball. 16-5 in their last 21? Great job boys!!

Have they decided about rescheduling the Braves-Mets games due to the hurricane? Sorry if this has already been asked.

I feel pretty good about our chances. We’re beating the teams we should and winning more than not against the others. Seems like we’re hitting better and pitching is returning to the norm.

I like Joe Simpson. Chip is just okay. Driving home today listening to the radio guys was a treat. Jim Powell and Don Sutton are outstanding together. Wish they were on TV so I would enjoy them more often.

Ugla…a healthy MCcann and the addition of Bourne have all tranformed this team into an offensive power. Good job Wren!

Heard Chip Carey sang during 7th inning stretch at Wrigley…Didn’t get to see, but heard he put in “root, root, for the Bravos”…Bet that went over well in Chicago….good for him…he has to remember his employer!

I third that emotion on Jim and Don. I listen on line at work or on the way home nearly every evening. I thought I would have a hard time getting over losing Pete and Skip, but these two are special (and funny) in their own way. Great chemistry. Sometimes wish Don would stick more to color.

Sorry but I think the radio guys are a little hokey. Their jokes are a bit stale and forced it seems. Some great baseball knowledge out of Don though. Gotta be a tough job keeping it going for 9 innings. Go Bravos!!

They will not play Saturday or Sunday. Two games will have to be made up on mutual off days. That is if they need to make them up as the braves may be too far ahead.

…guess you never heard “Josh Savage” back in the day during a blowout.

Chipper has lost a step – but his election to the All-Star Game wasn’t one of those lifetime-achievement selections – he truly had 3B stats that ranked up with the NL’s best. Now it helps that, for example, Rolen and Wright were having down years, but my point is there’s still some gas in Chipper’s tank.

I want to congragulate Frank Wren for not giving up any of Braves future (even now) pitching stars to get Carlos Beltran as everybody (including me) was calling for. He instead got Michael Bourn who has changed the entire team with his speed. Beltran went on the DL and so far is a BUST. Bourn has been fantastic. Just batting over .300 and getting on base ALOT.

GREAT JOB FRANK.

I’m a long time Braves fan. I used to go to their games when Dusty Baker, Dale Murphy, Dave Johnson, Phil Niekro, and Bob Horner were on the team. Now I cannot get them on TV or radio. I live in Lakeland, Florida just 35 miles from the Tampa Bay Rays. I have no passion at all for the Rays or American League Ball.
I have tried hard to find a way to beat the mlb black out, to no avail. Anybody else in this situation???

Good news on the Double Header on an off day. Call ups will help with the pitching and nobody will have to go on short rest.
