VJ – I hear you on that I can still do triangle math but throw some arc’s in there and I haven’t done that math in years. But I think you get my question and I’ll be around all year if you get around to the answer
My guess is there isn’t very much difference on a typical fly ball HR meaning if it will clear 16′ fence at 368′ it will also clear the 8′ fence at 380′ (unless it is hit str8 the hell up).
Maybe you can make it a geometry question for one of your students.
oh yeah I’m gonna base an opinion on what happens on talk sports radio where the jocks are paid to ignite controversy so the haters have somewhere to rant. sigh
LAG–I know there is Conrad, but because he is usually held back. We don’t see him in a situation like where we just saw Lugo. A RH Hinske who can play a couple of positions would be nice.

It was meant as an example, Heath.
I really like Heyward and have hope for him. But, I can no longer reasonably defend his performance this season. I don’t know why he’s struggled so much. I’m not a scout so I’m not really qualified to analyze his stance or his swing, but a lot of people who get paid to do this stuff believe his skill set will translate to very strong results. I have no choice but to believe them. As to his BABIP, I do believe he’s been tremendously unlucky, but even with a league average BABIP, he would not be where we all expected and hoped he would be this year. I do hope he can improve for the stretch run, though, as this team will need him over the next 60 days.
Well, I respect your opinions, if I don’t agree, nolie and BAS.
To me haters are racists, bigots, homophophes, sexists and their ilk. Just can’t see myself lumping irate baseball fans in with those scourges. Just me.
That’s the thing BAS, we don’t klnow if Nate played the last two years with that hernia and you just can’t do anything that requires max effort. I had the operation he needed where they sew into you abdomen something similar to what a screen is made like. Of course it’s something that will grow into your muscle tissue and make it strong as your abdomen was before. It’s a difficult surgery to recovery from but you can be like new. AND NATE when he was a Pirate was a player we could use.
Face it, he couldn’t run full speed, he couldn’t throw full speed, he was trying to make contact not hit for power. That 50 SB season can still happen and all the things that go with a healthy Nate.
George – just yanking your chain…glad to see you ease off that irrational support for wayward…but i must admit i see Heyward starting to peek from under the covers…finally.
I have a lot of experience with massive infections and it’s treatment. It drains you and can take a good while to recover fully from. Even the antibiotics used to treat it are poison to your body
Well, my point was, George, that I don’t think most of the people here who critisize Heyward actually hate him, unlike those other types do their targets. Of course, there are some, likeHeyPipp an CrisfromSac who may. Neither of those seem to be playing with a full deck, though.
I would hope not, Brava, given that most of us (I assume) don’t know him. He may never be the player we all hope he will be (or maybe he will be), but none of that makes him a bad dude.
man….our 1-3 hitters are not doing very much at all lately. oh thats right, our number 3 hitter is hitting 6th. sorry, but while chip is this hot you gotta put him back where he belongs.
