I believe Costanza is the way to go as long as he is healthy. Heyward will be productive for us in the future but the Braves are playing for now and he is simply isn’t as productive as Georgie is at this time. The only thing I worry about now is Hanson and JJ. Hopefully Hanson will be o.k. because when he is on he reminds me of a young Smoltz. Wren deserves alot of credit for not trading any of the young pitching as they are needed much sooner than we anticipated. What a great year! As Keith Richards sings at the end of “Tumbling Dice” keep on rolling! Finally, to paraphrase the Rolling Stones-who DOB doesn’t play enough-”It’s only the Braves winning the World Series, but I like it” Go Braves!

The Mets are as bad as Heyward is right now. 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out. No runs.

Braves had 1st & 2nd no out last night in 4th i think and got nothing but 3 strikeouts in a row. That wont cut it. Need to do better in that situation

Sounds like Hanson will be missing a significant amount of time.

Josh Johnson type of situation? I hope not.

He’s [Kelly Johnson] probably still at least a B in the AL, which has to be Toronto’s motivation in acquiring the impending free agent.

I don’t like how teams horde picks. It only makes good business sense, but I don’t think its fair to other teams (I dunno, like the Braves).

“Prado’s been Frenchy-esque for well over a year now”

That is a joke right? I don’t recall Frenchy ever dislocating a finger and having a staff infection, tearing an oblique all within 1 year. But hey if you like the comparison, run with it.

Prado’s been the opposite of Frenchy to me because quite frankly he can’t stay healthy. Jeff had to be told to sit down, had a nice little streak going in games played as I recall. Prado and Heyward’s lack of production can largely be traced to various injuries. Frenchy just plain lost it.

Have seen this hot hand act before in 2007

Willie Harris, 2007, first 110 plate appearances as a Brave:

.412/.477/.546/1.023, 20 runs scored, 9 RBIs, 8 stolen bases

Jose Constanza, 2011, first 87 plate appearances as a Brave:

.372/.417/.487/.904, 18 runs scored, 9 RBIs, 7 stolen bases

Willie Harris, rest of 2007:

.215/.299/.332/.631 in 281 plate appearances

Make whatever excuse you need to feel better, but the bottomline is that the results have been Frenchy-esque for Prado since July 9th of last season. His numbers during that time are pretty much in line with Frenchy’s career rates

You’re right about the injuries, but he hasn’t hit well. That’s a fact.

I think the point is that their maybe is a reason for Prado’s struggles whereas Frenchy just seemed to lose it, no explanation once so ever. They seemed to try everything to fix him. There is good chance Prado if he can ever find consistent health can turn it around. With Frenchy that belief obviously ran out when they traded him or they just got tired of waiting.

You got it. It’s all turned into some sick joke. I’m so glad that Uggla turned him season around. Maybe the reason why Heyward hasn’t is because of his lack of seasoning that Uggla has. No matter what, I doubt if Jason will contribute, but it would be a hoot if he turned into this year’s Cody Ross at the right time.

Prado’s problem is that his offensive value is almost entirely tied into his batting average. While a .274 batting average is just fine for a player someone how can take a walk or absolutely crush a ball, it just isn’t good enough for him. He needs to be a .300+ hitter to be a productive offensive MLBer.
