BALLGAME F@&*ING GAME!! Can’t believe the negative “fans” on here. Unreal.
Yeah, A regular a** here said the Cubbies wants this more ! :madd: But when the Braves pulls it out, He goes running ! A regular a** hole ! With his crocodile cheering, gag me with a spoon !
We lost a starting catcher, ORR
really? a guy who has never caught more than half a season. That’s your definition of a “starting catcher”
Tonight the Braves joined the Phillies, Yankees, and Red Sox in the .600 club.
BTW, San Diego up 4-0 on Matt Cain. I think last year was the Giant’s year.
August 23rd, 201111:14 pm
Lost in all of the winning is Hanson. Sure hope he is okay. Like I said earlier, nothing worse than what is happening with Josh Johnson. Shoulder is structurally sound according to MRI’s. But the guy just continues to have soreness. Let’s hope for the best. We need that kid….
Frank from KS (now living in CO)
What were you all worried about, the Braves had the game in the bag from the beginning
Looking forward to the Brewers beating the absolute dog out of the Bravos in the postseason. What I wouldn’t pay to see Venters and Kimbrel get bombed by Prince and the Hebrew Hammer.
August 23rd, 201111:17 pm
What was THAT comment @ 11:14 for Chop Chop?
August 23rd, 2011
And Jason Heyward made it in order for Kimbrel to rule, Did you know that ?!!
Chop Chop, 11:14 Was that for real or was that another “Phil”?
August 23rd, 201111:18 pm
Classic stuff from Chop Chop, as usual.
T for Texas
Props to you if you had a hand in running off Powder Blue. Good job, my man.
August 23rd, 201111:19 pm
Weather rapidly deteriorating in the Southeast Bahamas as Hurricane Irene moves in. 1100 EDT
They can’t help it. They were dropped on their heads when they were babies.
We have a lot of bandwagon fans too. Just wait until we drop 2 in a row. All hell will break loose.
Oh, I was probably kidding, Frank from KS and menlobrave.
“Chipper might never score another run in his career hitting 6th.”
Not if he runs like he did running out that ground ball up the middle. Hell, he’ll be lucky to see 2B again.
Nice to see Heyward step up and swing the stick, especially taking balls the other way. Not so nice to see his play in RF.
Everybody ragging on him for the bloop bad hop on Ramirez’s hit in the 9th, but the worse play imo, was allowing both runners to tag up on that fly ball in the inning the Cubs scored their 4 runs.
One could say in the end it wouldn’t have mattered because Ramirez doubled them in anyhow. And then followed up by the Gonzo error, it really didn’t hurt anything. But those are plays that WILL hurt come October.
Gotta play smarter than that.
Also have to assume that if Freeman is at 1B, he snags that throw from Gonzo. So for whatever that’s worth, I’m not really that bothered by that play.
August 23rd, 201111:20 pm
“They were dropped on their heads when they were babies.”
I guess Hurricane’s are a price to be paid for living in paradise?
August 23rd, 201111:21 pm
Actually, the best “comments” you make are when you make no comments……
This could turn out to be a very fruitful year for the city. Both Falcons & Braves are serious championship contenders.
Chop Chop, Thought so.
August 23rd, 201111:22 pm
Efrim, you are dead on correct about Hanson’s shoulder. Scariest thing is the doctors can’t find anything to fix, but the problem remains. I had a high ankle sprain years ago, that the doctor told me if I would have broken it, or torn the ligaments he could’ve fixed and I’d be fine in 6-8 weeks. As it was I was on crutches for 14 weeks, and still have some issues years later.
August 23rd, 201111:23 pm
HA….someone needs to look in the mirror, themself
It was good to get Sunshine Freeman a rest tonight, but as N8 pointed out he probably saves Gonzo the error on that play. In fact he’s saved countless errors over there from our infielders.
August 23rd, 201111:24 pm
Concerning Hanson. If it’s tendonitis (is it called that when the shoulder is inflammed?), there ain’t nothing that can be done short of injections, anti-inflammatories and rest.
August 23rd, 201111:25 pm
Key Largo. Good luck. Hope it misses everything. Lived in Florida for a while (was BocaBrave then), and you see those storm tracking projections and just pray. Good luck.
T for Texas,
Thanks man. That guy was a serious a**hole. Bitched and moaned right before the trade deadline about how we would get some slop player and how we don’t make any serious moves.
Damn near everybody on this blog knew we would get a player, we were just getting anxious for Frank to pull the trigger.
Ever since Bourn has arrived P***y Blue hasn’t shown.
August 23rd, 201111:26 pm
Martinez strong again, Vizcaino looked good. Congrats to JHEY on his 1st GS. Why cant we throw Ramiriz a pitch in the dirt instead of everything over the plate? Minor was lights out til the 6th.
August 23rd, 201111:27 pm
You know, I am breaking my rule here: never talk to stupid people. But you are one of the WORST sunny day fans on here. And you are about as stupid as the day is long.
If someone put you in a closet, you’d be too damned dumb to figure out how to open the frickin door and get out. THAT’S how stupid you are.
Don’t worry folks, I have this one completely under control!!
T for Texas, yeah, Johnson has just had general soreness and I don’t believe he has had any rehab starts. I know they had him on a throwing program, but I’m not sure how far he progressed. Like I said, hopefully this setback is a minor one for Tommy.
Personally, I think he has the best stuff of any pitcher in the entire org., three latin arms, Beachy, Jurrjens, etc. Best pitcher we got, imo. Be a shame if he went down with a serious shoulder injury.
Stizz – well, I don’t blame Powder Blue for NOT coming on the blog much anymore. I haven’t either, bc of some on this blog.
August 23rd, 201111:28 pm
guys in the Carolinas and even Maryland need to keep a lookout. Fla is safe this time, though there is another one brewing off of Arica which is starting far enough South that it might get into the Caribbean is it develops. always something…
kl – yeah they keep turning it farther and farther east so maybe only the south islands get hit really hard…and it should only be a cat 2 prior to then have you seen any estimates on the surge expecations?
Nova Scotia Steve
Buncha zingers on here tonight.
For example: Actually, the best “comments” you make are when you make no comments……
August 23rd, 201111:29 pm
Toss him in the category with JC and Mixxo.
August 23rd, 201111:31 pm
Frank from KS,
PB was one of the guys that kept some off of this blog. Dude had his nose so far up in the air it was ridiculous.
August 23rd, 201111:32 pm
now there’s an interesting thought. the Braves complainers aren’t coming on because of others -presumedly Braves non-complainers- on the blog. free speech does not mean free of consequences of any kind for speaking
August 23rd, 201111:34 pm
my guess is that PB is around under another name
Efrim, agree with you on Hanson having the superior ’stuff’ in the org. The one thing that puzzles me with him, unless this is just something that it takes some guys a few years to learn, is the ability to get strike three. It seems with the wickedness of his pitches the K’s would come easier. I have wondered for a while if something in his delivery tips what pitch he is throwing. You have an opinion as to why he struggles with strike three?
August 23rd, 201111:35 pm
Primary reason Frank doesn’t come on the blog any more is because when we are winning, he has a lot less to whine about. He’s kind of a Mitchell lite. Or a Mitchell with half the brains.
August 23rd, 201111:37 pm
Yeah, I was kinda proud of that one……..
Big Red got a pretty fine K-rate this season Tfor. The brst of his career so far at least until his arm started bothering him. his mechanics are pretty terrible which makes repetition harder which in turn causes command troubles. Ball is at times as likely to be over the heart of the plate as it is to bee a ball.
Wayne – ya better not say anymore, my friend.
TRUST ME, ya better not…..
August 23rd, 201111:38 pm
noliee, I can’t say I never complained. I complained a lot about Frenchy and I’ve groused about Agon. I think you can be a fan and still critique a guy’s performance, e.g. Chipper loafing to second tonight. What I don’t get is Brave’s fans on the blog seeming to want guys to fail and the team to lose. If they were Phillies or Mets fans, I’d get it. However, some of the Phillies fans who come on the blog are more rational than some of the Braves fans. That said, Free speech for all! Except PL.
Da Sensitive One, not da big mean one
August 23rd, 201111:39 pm
I love the postgame convos on here. Tonights discussion: Idiots vs. the sane.
T for Texas and Efrim
Agreeing that Hanson probably has the best pure stuff. Great stuff, still learning how to put it all together. Let’s hope his arm holds up, or he might end up being another Mark Prior.
If Hanson ever learns how to put hitters away, he will be a true #1.
August 23rd, 201111:41 pm
I’m a lifelong Brewers fan, so I hope people here don’t decide to mock me for being a lifelong Brewers fan when my Brew Crew are stomping a mudhole in Damn Fuggla’s backside.
August 23rd, 201111:42 pm
sure menlo. we all complain , we all critique. It’s mostly a matter of degree. some folks , 90% of their posts are negative.Repetition and venom get old pretty quick.
I think we should be talking about Kimbrel.
Dude is something else. He’s going to blow the doors of the rookie saves record. Absolutely amazing.
Great job by “The other guys” in the BP tonight as well!
Oh no. Now Frank is going to find me out here in blog land and whup up on me if I say anything else??
Frank, let’s face it. You tolerate the blog when the team is going well. But you revel in the negativity when the team or a player or two are doing poorly.
Go play in the street, OK.
August 23rd, 201111:44 pm
mommy mommy can I play in the street with Frank???
August 23rd, 201111:46 pm
T @ 11:34
People have seen it
No out pitch.
Listen Wayne, I lost my job in June of 2009, after I threatened to kick a guys BUTT, if I ever caught him outside of work, after 8 years of bullying, harrassment, etc, etc….and believe me, ya JUST BETTER NOT SAY ANYMORE.
August 23rd, 201111:47 pm
The scary thing is they are ALL doing very well. Sure, a pen guy will lay and egg from time to time, but that’s why some of them are in the bullpen.
We know that eventually they will give up a run here or there. But for now, we just enjoy the ride!
Many folks on the blog have been saying that a Braves team with Heyward hitting closer to what we think he is capable of will take the team farther into the post season than a slap hitter like Constanza. Not that I don’t appreciate Georgie, I certainly do.
My dad and brother live in SC about 45 minutes from the coast, so I am a little worried. My dad was caught in Hugo back in ‘89. He got in his car because he was afraid his trailer would blow to away to bits. He got in his car in the back yard and when it cleared he ended up way out in a cotton field.
August 23rd, 201111:48 pm
Wayne – so, how about that pitch in the fifth inning?
August 23rd, 201111:49 pm
If people pick on you, there must be a reason. Maybe you should sell your damned computer……..
Company’s don’t fire folks that are being harassed…..
I must admit that when Constanza tweaked his ankle I though it would be positive for Jason to be able to play for a couple of days with no fear of being pulled/benched the next day. (As opposed to when he homered in New York, only to sit the next day).
Well, whatever it was, he had a great game.
Welcome back, Jason!
August 23rd, 201111:50 pm
“Wayne, I lost my job in June of 2009, after I threatened to kick a guys BUTT, if I ever caught him outside of work, after 8 years of bullying, harrassment, etc, etc….and believe me, ya JUST BETTER NOT SAY ANYMORE.”
I can only imagine how hard you were pushnig the keys when typing this.
August 23rd, 201111:51 pm
Kimbrel for CY
Freeman for ROY
You trying to distract me???
Gonna run out and grab a DDP. It’s still early here……
Later Braves fans……. and you too Frank.
Man with all this hostility I need BAS around to have a good Tyler Perry discussion.
August 23rd, 201111:52 pm
Frank from Kansas, wow! What’s up man? Long time no see bud. How are ya
Wayne – am I proud of what I did? no, but after 8 years of bullying, harrassment, etc, etc…I had had enough, and the guy that got me fired, is STILL there…BC he’s one of their *quote on quote* pets.
August 23rd, 201111:53 pm
Hey Brian – Oh I’m hanging in there…sorta..(LOL)
Sorry folks. This character is somebody I don’t like too much (I guess you all figured that one out).
I think a DDP and I will feel much better (and maybe he will be gone when I return).
August 23rd, 201111:54 pm
Jays DP duo infielders are now KJ and Yunel.
August 23rd, 201111:55 pm
not much conversation for me to join in on tonight so
when its sleepy time down south…
boy Hill fell a long ways since 2009
August 23rd, 201111:56 pm
Ah hell, I can’t pull off an uga brave impression with out my keyboard
And I thought we were all one big happy family.
August 23rd, 201111:57 pm
Nolie – it does for me too, especially still jobless
August 23rd, 201111:58 pm
It was a pretty good post though Bat.
I did a double take to check the name.
August 23rd, 201111:59 pm
If there was ever a player that would benefit from being managed by Bobby, it’s Heyward. No way Bobby would be jerking this young man around like this.
August 24th, 201112:00 am
Ha, thanks jarryd
August 24th, 201112:01 am
braves are making their dingers count this season. actually during this six game streak they are depending on them.
viz sure looks good as the bridge to o’ventrebel.
August 24th, 201112:07 am
Bat, uga-brave goes something like this,
kimbrel is smoltz out of the pen without the tude.
venters throws a screwball.
eof is the tag along that could close for lots of teams.
all this and coperate mcgurik dont show up at turner field.
ever seen terry sporting tomahawk shirts like ted did at the game.
smilin frank cant stop the grin now.
Fredi should start Heyward again tomorrow. He’s earned that IMO.
I like Georgie as well. Think he’s been a heck an add on to the team (and contributor). But Heyward deserves another start tomorrow after tonight’s performance (minus the bobble).
August 24th, 201112:08 am
maybe they non-tender Moylan and use Viz in the pen next year
Heyward is 9-for-16 with 3 HRs, 8 RBIs in five games (four starts) at Wrigley Field
August 24th, 201112:09 am
Not sure if this is OK, but I wanna share a video I created with my bro’s funeral service. It has all of our family in it. I am one in the white shirt with flag on it in the big family picture at the beginning.
trade him to the Cubbies for Big Z
August 24th, 201112:11 am
always imitated never duplicated.
August 24th, 201112:12 am
Good nickname for Viz: “Little Z”
or “Quik Z”
August 24th, 201112:14 am
uga, that’s right. There’s only one uga-brave. No doubt.
August 24th, 201112:15 am
Good stuff there TnBrian
Uga _ bull or bear?
August 24th, 201112:16 am
Here is my uga-brave impression:
just got back from the game. had great seats and ran into kevin butler. kicked for the dawgs and bears.
ate steak at morton’s. probably drank some. more than probably.
bas, you there?
s&p blew it.
minor aint got it. more thrower than pitcher.
nolie, you there?
August 24th, 201112:18 am
oh my, three Ugas. what we gonna do??
August 24th, 201112:23 am
Chipper on what Kimbrel has shown him: “Fearless. Absolutely fearless. I think he realized really early on in the season, I throw the ball 100 miles an hour, and 99 percent of the people in the big leagues, you can tell them 99 [mph] is coming and they ain’t going to hit it. And he’s got a devastating breaking ball to boot. And he commands both.
August 24th, 201112:24 am
noliee, dont tell my wife.
August 24th, 201112:25 am
Since my ability at impersonation is weak, I will head off to the outer chamber and make preparations in case the fault center shifts to the west overnight…
August 24th, 201112:28 am
Oh yeah, Bat. If forgot it’s not his pitches he’s tipping, it’s pints.
Let’s hope this is the game, that maybe gets J-Hey going somewhat. They need him going down the stretch and into October
August 24th, 201112:29 am
Link to QUOTAGE
Heyward grounds out to second
August 24th, 201112:31 am
Our starting pitching has been a little inconsistent lately despite winning games for us. Seems the fifth and sixth innning is where things get a little unpredictable. I really don’t know who would be our starting rotation for the NLDS.
Right now only Beachy and Hudson are the guys in the rotation I’d be confident with going forward. With either Minor or JJ being the third starter. If JJ can keep improving then yeah we should be ok, but I just don’t know who you go with in this situation.
Heyward looks like he’s improving a lot lately. He’s been hitting much better over the last few games he’s played in. Still, when Jose is back you gotta play him, but Heyward is making strides, there is no doubt about it.
We talk baseball, other sports, music, movies, BBQ and whatever (except politics or religion)
