BALLGAME F@&*ING GAME!! Can’t believe the negative “fans” on here. Unreal.
Yeah, A regular a** here said the Cubbies wants this more ! :madd: But when the Braves pulls it out, He goes running ! A regular a** hole ! With his crocodile cheering, gag me with a spoon !
Lost in all of the winning is Hanson. Sure hope he is okay. Like I said earlier, nothing worse than what is happening with Josh Johnson. Shoulder is structurally sound according to MRI’s. But the guy just continues to have soreness. Let’s hope for the best. We need that kid….
Looking forward to the Brewers beating the absolute dog out of the Bravos in the postseason. What I wouldn’t pay to see Venters and Kimbrel get bombed by Prince and the Hebrew Hammer.
“Chipper might never score another run in his career hitting 6th.”
Not if he runs like he did running out that ground ball up the middle. Hell, he’ll be lucky to see 2B again.
Nice to see Heyward step up and swing the stick, especially taking balls the other way. Not so nice to see his play in RF.
Everybody ragging on him for the bloop bad hop on Ramirez’s hit in the 9th, but the worse play imo, was allowing both runners to tag up on that fly ball in the inning the Cubs scored their 4 runs.
One could say in the end it wouldn’t have mattered because Ramirez doubled them in anyhow. And then followed up by the Gonzo error, it really didn’t hurt anything. But those are plays that WILL hurt come October.
Gotta play smarter than that.
Also have to assume that if Freeman is at 1B, he snags that throw from Gonzo. So for whatever that’s worth, I’m not really that bothered by that play.
Efrim, you are dead on correct about Hanson’s shoulder. Scariest thing is the doctors can’t find anything to fix, but the problem remains. I had a high ankle sprain years ago, that the doctor told me if I would have broken it, or torn the ligaments he could’ve fixed and I’d be fine in 6-8 weeks. As it was I was on crutches for 14 weeks, and still have some issues years later.
It was good to get Sunshine Freeman a rest tonight, but as N8 pointed out he probably saves Gonzo the error on that play. In fact he’s saved countless errors over there from our infielders.
Concerning Hanson. If it’s tendonitis (is it called that when the shoulder is inflammed?), there ain’t nothing that can be done short of injections, anti-inflammatories and rest.
Key Largo. Good luck. Hope it misses everything. Lived in Florida for a while (was BocaBrave then), and you see those storm tracking projections and just pray. Good luck.
Thanks man. That guy was a serious a**hole. Bitched and moaned right before the trade deadline about how we would get some slop player and how we don’t make any serious moves.
Damn near everybody on this blog knew we would get a player, we were just getting anxious for Frank to pull the trigger.
Ever since Bourn has arrived P***y Blue hasn’t shown.
Martinez strong again, Vizcaino looked good. Congrats to JHEY on his 1st GS. Why cant we throw Ramiriz a pitch in the dirt instead of everything over the plate? Minor was lights out til the 6th.
You know, I am breaking my rule here: never talk to stupid people. But you are one of the WORST sunny day fans on here. And you are about as stupid as the day is long.
If someone put you in a closet, you’d be too damned dumb to figure out how to open the frickin door and get out. THAT’S how stupid you are.
Don’t worry folks, I have this one completely under control!!
T for Texas, yeah, Johnson has just had general soreness and I don’t believe he has had any rehab starts. I know they had him on a throwing program, but I’m not sure how far he progressed. Like I said, hopefully this setback is a minor one for Tommy.
Personally, I think he has the best stuff of any pitcher in the entire org., three latin arms, Beachy, Jurrjens, etc. Best pitcher we got, imo. Be a shame if he went down with a serious shoulder injury.
guys in the Carolinas and even Maryland need to keep a lookout. Fla is safe this time, though there is another one brewing off of Arica which is starting far enough South that it might get into the Caribbean is it develops. always something…
kl – yeah they keep turning it farther and farther east so maybe only the south islands get hit really hard…and it should only be a cat 2 prior to then have you seen any estimates on the surge expecations?
now there’s an interesting thought. the Braves complainers aren’t coming on because of others -presumedly Braves non-complainers- on the blog. free speech does not mean free of consequences of any kind for speaking
Efrim, agree with you on Hanson having the superior ’stuff’ in the org. The one thing that puzzles me with him, unless this is just something that it takes some guys a few years to learn, is the ability to get strike three. It seems with the wickedness of his pitches the K’s would come easier. I have wondered for a while if something in his delivery tips what pitch he is throwing. You have an opinion as to why he struggles with strike three?
Primary reason Frank doesn’t come on the blog any more is because when we are winning, he has a lot less to whine about. He’s kind of a Mitchell lite. Or a Mitchell with half the brains.
Big Red got a pretty fine K-rate this season Tfor. The brst of his career so far at least until his arm started bothering him. his mechanics are pretty terrible which makes repetition harder which in turn causes command troubles. Ball is at times as likely to be over the heart of the plate as it is to bee a ball.
noliee, I can’t say I never complained. I complained a lot about Frenchy and I’ve groused about Agon. I think you can be a fan and still critique a guy’s performance, e.g. Chipper loafing to second tonight. What I don’t get is Brave’s fans on the blog seeming to want guys to fail and the team to lose. If they were Phillies or Mets fans, I’d get it. However, some of the Phillies fans who come on the blog are more rational than some of the Braves fans. That said, Free speech for all! Except PL.
Agreeing that Hanson probably has the best pure stuff. Great stuff, still learning how to put it all together. Let’s hope his arm holds up, or he might end up being another Mark Prior.
If Hanson ever learns how to put hitters away, he will be a true #1.
I’m a lifelong Brewers fan, so I hope people here don’t decide to mock me for being a lifelong Brewers fan when my Brew Crew are stomping a mudhole in Damn Fuggla’s backside.
sure menlo. we all complain , we all critique. It’s mostly a matter of degree. some folks , 90% of their posts are negative.Repetition and venom get old pretty quick.
Oh no. Now Frank is going to find me out here in blog land and whup up on me if I say anything else??
Frank, let’s face it. You tolerate the blog when the team is going well. But you revel in the negativity when the team or a player or two are doing poorly.
Listen Wayne, I lost my job in June of 2009, after I threatened to kick a guys BUTT, if I ever caught him outside of work, after 8 years of bullying, harrassment, etc, etc….and believe me, ya JUST BETTER NOT SAY ANYMORE.
The scary thing is they are ALL doing very well. Sure, a pen guy will lay and egg from time to time, but that’s why some of them are in the bullpen.
We know that eventually they will give up a run here or there. But for now, we just enjoy the ride!
Many folks on the blog have been saying that a Braves team with Heyward hitting closer to what we think he is capable of will take the team farther into the post season than a slap hitter like Constanza. Not that I don’t appreciate Georgie, I certainly do.
My dad and brother live in SC about 45 minutes from the coast, so I am a little worried. My dad was caught in Hugo back in ‘89. He got in his car because he was afraid his trailer would blow to away to bits. He got in his car in the back yard and when it cleared he ended up way out in a cotton field.
I must admit that when Constanza tweaked his ankle I though it would be positive for Jason to be able to play for a couple of days with no fear of being pulled/benched the next day. (As opposed to when he homered in New York, only to sit the next day).
“Wayne, I lost my job in June of 2009, after I threatened to kick a guys BUTT, if I ever caught him outside of work, after 8 years of bullying, harrassment, etc, etc….and believe me, ya JUST BETTER NOT SAY ANYMORE.”
I can only imagine how hard you were pushnig the keys when typing this.
Wayne – am I proud of what I did? no, but after 8 years of bullying, harrassment, etc, etc…I had had enough, and the guy that got me fired, is STILL there…BC he’s one of their *quote on quote* pets.
If there was ever a player that would benefit from being managed by Bobby, it’s Heyward. No way Bobby would be jerking this young man around like this.
Fredi should start Heyward again tomorrow. He’s earned that IMO.
I like Georgie as well. Think he’s been a heck an add on to the team (and contributor). But Heyward deserves another start tomorrow after tonight’s performance (minus the bobble).
Not sure if this is OK, but I wanna share a video I created with my bro’s funeral service. It has all of our family in it. I am one in the white shirt with flag on it in the big family picture at the beginning.
Chipper on what Kimbrel has shown him: “Fearless. Absolutely fearless. I think he realized really early on in the season, I throw the ball 100 miles an hour, and 99 percent of the people in the big leagues, you can tell them 99 [mph] is coming and they ain’t going to hit it. And he’s got a devastating breaking ball to boot. And he commands both.
Since my ability at impersonation is weak, I will head off to the outer chamber and make preparations in case the fault center shifts to the west overnight…
Our starting pitching has been a little inconsistent lately despite winning games for us. Seems the fifth and sixth innning is where things get a little unpredictable. I really don’t know who would be our starting rotation for the NLDS.
Right now only Beachy and Hudson are the guys in the rotation I’d be confident with going forward. With either Minor or JJ being the third starter. If JJ can keep improving then yeah we should be ok, but I just don’t know who you go with in this situation.
Heyward looks like he’s improving a lot lately. He’s been hitting much better over the last few games he’s played in. Still, when Jose is back you gotta play him, but Heyward is making strides, there is no doubt about it.

Heyward grounds out to second
August 24th, 2011
12:31 am
