Was walking in the clubhouse level of the old stadium when only 3 or 4 thousand came to Braves games about an hour before the game. I was a little kid and walking alone and a nice man in a yellow blazer came over and patted me on the head and told me he hoped I enjoyed the game. I recognized him from TV…….that man was Ernie Johnson…..the biggest smile on his face and the most sincere person………all the stories are true…….his was a beautiful person with a big heart……may he rest in peace……..

Congrats to Bobby Cox. A real baseball man!

Sorry to hear about Ernie Johnson. I grew up listening to Ernie most every night calling Braves games at a time when the Braves were not very good. So a good night for me listening to the Braves was Ernie saying “theres a drive, way back, its gone, homerun Henry Aaron”!

The Braves have 43 games left. If they go .500 the rest of the way(can’t exactly, so, I’ll default to 22-21), the Braves will finish the season 92-70. The two teams chasing the Braves right now would have a really tough time getting to 92 wins.

STL/SF at 64-55 (.538 winning percentage) would need to got 28-15 (.651) to also get to 92 wins. It’s possible, but to ask a team that is a .538 team to go .651 over 43 games is asking a lot. That would be asking the teams to play 21% BETTER than they already have been to this point in the season. When you look at it that way, it makes that 6-game lead for the Braves look even bigger. It basically means, these two teams can’t really “win” the WC, Atlanta would have to “lose” it.

Personally, I think the Braves wind up with 94-95 wins at a minimum and the WC is locked up a full week before the season is over.

1. Boy is Uggla making a midseason statement………..here is your $60 000 000 ticket Frank Wren. Happy for him and thank GOD we have our RH power bat at the heart of the order.

2. Is Chipper really something……..1000 extrabase hits………Im not sure why some would love to see him hang it up. No matter what, he is the soul of this team. Too many stats and clutch stories to ignore. Our best right player, no doubt. SUPERSTAR written all over him. CHIPPER, you are the man. I think Mc is very good player, but IMO he is not in Chippers league. I do think Freddie could be our next Chipper Jones, not Mc, since Freddie has much more plate discipline at much younger age and has learned very early to put the ball in play the other way, has power to go with it, and is a better defender than Chipper. Mc is an average defender IMO, good at best, not close to very good in my scale.

3. Bobby Cox, I really hated how you managed our games, but I have to admit we were blessed to have you as our skipper.

4. Phillies, get your axxex ready cause the Braves are really loaded. 3 headed monster is getting rested. Moylan is going to get back. I wouldnt want to face this Braves team. Seams like everybody is hitting above .290 after the ASB.

Smart to pick your spots. Time and a place for everything. Next year isn’t going anywhere. Macho stuff at the wrong time and place is for weak minds.
