Congrats to Bobby. I’m glad his number is being retired. He was a great manager of men for a long time. May his nose always be full of boogers to pick.
“Tomahawkin, the reason so many seats are empty is because most fans are like me .”
Naw, Actually I think some of those Seats were bought by Bandwagon Cubs Fans who live here in Atlanta and chose not to go because their Team is Garbage! What a Waste! Those tickets could’ve been saved for Braves Fans
I hate Cubs Fans
Will tomorrow’s softball game be televised ?
August 12th, 20117:22 pm
People just haven’t gotten to the Ted from work. This game is sold out.
Smoltz: “A small part of Bobby Cox changes you as a baseball player; 20 years with the man changes your life.”
August 12th, 20117:23 pm
Mac – first AB – 8 pitches and a sharp flyout to CF.
McFann O O It won't be long, now!!!
BMac flies out sharply to CF for out #2.
Chipper: “Over the last 20 years we’ve won with class and lost with class. We’re one of the most respected organizations in baseball because we’ve been led by the best manager in baseball over that period”
Somebody get Constanza up there.
I want to hear what he has to say.
Was a good AB, though…
August 12th, 20117:24 pm
I don’t know about y’all but i’m sitting here crying. This brings back so many memories. I can’t wait until Maddux, Glavine, and Smoltz are inducted into the HOF.
“most people will have a hard time getting to the game early because of friday traffic…even though they game was sold out and standing room only”
And There is The PGA Championships As well as a Preseason Falcons game at the GA Dome…
August 12th, 20117:25 pm
8 pitches, he battled.
Russ Nixon would beg to differ.
This was brilliant. Thank you Dave, for sharing the stories from the luncheon
August 12th, 20117:26 pm
“Will tomorrow’s softball game be televised ?”
No I don’t Think? I went to the one last year and it wasn’t televised
Wow? People Still Wear Tie-Dyed Shirts?
very true tomahawkin
August 12th, 20117:27 pm
Great camera work panning across the numbers.
Somebody having a seizure?
Gameday showed that it was caught at the wall.
wonder if smoltzie is bitter that his number isn’t up there next to greg and tom’s.
Oh, my gawd! That’s Frank Wren’s music!
(No such luck. Oh well.)
August 12th, 20117:28 pm
Congrats Bobby! Thank you for the great memories.
I’m in tears too, Bravesfan2011.
Don Sutton tells Cox he wished he’d had a chance to play for him: “You would have made me better.”
They play that tacky music and you can’t hear the crowd response.
There are people there it would seem, maybe not in the upper deck in right field but elsewhere.
August 12th, 20117:29 pm
The Softball Game Starts at 430-5ish?
Its pretty good stuff to go to…And If I’m not mistaking? The gates open at 3pm tomorrow?
bobby cox might be the classiest man alive.
Bobby just hates talking about himself doesn’t he?
That Propecia thing never really worked out for Smoltzie, did it?
Yeah…they shoulda made that field smaller…
August 12th, 20117:30 pm
still putting the team first
I’m mad that the softball game isn’t on tv !!! That would be fun to watch.
wow, what happened to all the Bobby haters, keeping quite out of respect I guess.
cab Bobby just hates talking about himself doesn’t he?
August 12th, 20117:31 pm
Just Imagine All The Players and Coaches that came and Gone through Bobby C’s Tenure Here…
I can’t believe some of the names…Thinking that we had Derrek Lee Last year made that thought come up
As Well as Deion going into the NFL HOF Last week
We love you, Bobby!!!
August 12th, 20117:32 pm
Bon voyage, Bobby.
The Thanks Bobby Crew! But They didn’t show My Crew! Pretty Boy Flexing for Bobby!
Cox on getting emotional: “I was fine until they took the curtain off the number 6… I want to thank you so much. This is one of the greatest days of our lives.”
August 12th, 20117:33 pm
Glad I saw some of the ceremony. Now I can turn my attention to football. Yeeeeeeeeeehaw!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was good. Classy
man that bream slide gets me every time.
Just think of all the Braves players or coaches who will be inducted in the HOF in the next few years. Maddux, Smoltz, Glavine, Cox, Chipper.
August 12th, 20117:34 pm
that was very classy
Mike Minor, didn’t know he was pitching.
Get r done, Mikey.
Yeah, that Sid Bream slide to home plate in the 1992 NLCS is probably my most memorable Braves moment ever. Even more memorable than when Grissom caught the final out in the 1995 WS.
August 12th, 20117:37 pm
OK… link ended. THANKS AGAIN cab!
B4 everyone gets too Cozy with #6, remember that he had a losing record in the post-season and was 1-4 in the October Classic. Teams are supposed to get better with more post season experience. What hppened to Cox’s Braves’ squads?
August 12th, 20117:38 pm
You’re welcome Heath.
August 12th, 20117:39 pm
All Da Way Turn’ Up!”
On The Real However. I think The Day off will Hurt UGGLA
Especially since I’m a huge fan of day 2 day momentum….
Good grief, the Georgia Dome looks nearly empty. Where is everyone ???
Thanks for the link,cab
That was damned cool best wishes Bobby Cox
August 12th, 20117:40 pm
Bobby threw a strike to Chipper Jones on ceremonial first pitch, then went over to shake umpires’ hands. They all smiled, shook hands with him, then ump Tim Timmons acted like he was throwing him out….
Falcons went three and out on the first drive of the preseason.
August 12th, 20117:41 pm
my pleasure Bat- don’t any of you follow the Braves on Facebook?
Coach (2011 Fredi G. a go!)
August 12th, 20117:42 pm
Standing Room Only Crowd My Yellow Ass!
GTI in Chicago
Nice little interview before the game on WGN radio with MARLON BYRD about growing up a die-hard Braves fan as a kid in Georgia.
August 12th, 20117:43 pm

Lets Do This!
August 12th, 20117:44 pm

August 12th, 20117:45 pm
Minor struck out 12 Cubs when he faced them last season, strikes out Castro to start this one… Then a Reed Johnson single to CF
There goes the perfect game
August 12th, 20117:46 pm
If you all keep posting Falcons updates, I am going to post 49er updates when the game gets going
DOB They all smiled, shook hands with him, then ump Tim Timmons acted like he was throwing him out….
That was great…
It’s all good, double play. Inning over.
lol you all need to calm down….like I said before it will be hard for people to be at either game anywhere near on time tonight. The traffic is extra horrible tonight.
Minor looked pretty sharp in that first inning. I hope that first inning is a predictor of a good outing tonight from him.
August 12th, 20117:47 pm
falcon updates are awesome! im taping it and watching the braves game
August 12th, 20117:48 pm
How much space will youi take up posting 4 andouty for the Niner’s,cab
August 12th, 20117:49 pm
“Minor struck out 12 Cubs when he faced them last season, strikes out Castro to start this one… Then a Reed Johnson single to CF”
That was Also Heywards Last 2 homer Game? No?
His stats have been Nasty Since That 16-5 win against the cubs at Wrigley
You’d be surprised. It’s a 60 minute game. That’s a lot of 4 and outs (What’s a 4 and out, but the way? Do they get an extra down for being so bad?)
August 12th, 20117:50 pm
Zambrano doesnt waste any time
August 12th, 20117:51 pm
My Roomates Dog is starting to Tripp
I don’t think she likes it when I watch the games?
August 12th, 20117:52 pm
3 and out. Damn I’m out shape.that’s what pre-season is for I guess ;lol:
August 12th, 20117:53 pm
I like the fast pace of the game…
I know what you meant- just couldn’t resist that
August 12th, 20117:55 pm
Wow…what’s with David? Got new gear…
I still can’t believe a few years ago that Bandwagon Cubs Fans were Claiming that Geovanny Soto was better than B-Macc
To those Bandwagon Cubs Fans:
“Cocaine is a Hell of a Drug!”
August 12th, 20117:58 pm
of course not, cab. That’s what I get for ribbing you in pre season. Who knows maybe it all falls inyto place for the Niners this year
Keep Ernie Johnson Sr. in your thoughts, folks. He’s been ill for some time and has taken a turn for the worse in recent days.
BMac grounds out sharply to first baseman. 3 outs.
Least he’s apparently been sharp so far…
August 12th, 20117:59 pm
But Watch Out! He Kills Us!
falcons up 7-0
Will do, Chief!
Whoa, sorry to hear that DoIB
August 12th, 20118:00 pm
Seems SOTO was a bit of a flash in the pan. One of the greatest things about BMac has been his year in, year out staying power.
Ho Sit Down!
August 12th, 20118:02 pm
DAMN!!!! 32 games in a row with some style!!!!
August 12th, 20118:03 pm
