OK, I HATE the Phillies. That said, you gotta hand it to that miserable city….they sell out EVERY F’ing game! I was at the game today, the TED was half empty. Hey it was hot, it’s as hot in Philly….so don’t use that as an excuse. As a native Atlantan, we have the worst fans in baseball. A city of 6 million and we can’t fill a 40K stadium??? Pathetic!!
Just think what Wren could do if we sold out all our games and had 50% more payroll like the Philthies? This city doesn’t deserve the Bravos. And Kudos to Wren for the highway robbery he committed on the ‘Stros……Maybe we could sell out if we go to the WS….wouldn’t count on this city of bandwagon jumpers……just plain sad
Would you just stop it with the bs about atlanta not deserving this team….Let me type slowly so you will understand….there are a lot of braves fans who live all over the south and cannot attend games on a regular basis due to them living in oh say tennessee or alabama or north carolina or north florida or even south georgia. Philly fans live in and around philly…and with one train ride can be at their stadium. Braves fans are very loyal to their team..win or lose….and any game you travel to there are many braves fans there…probably very excited about actually getting to go to a game near therm. So shut it!

Everyone knows Braves needed a big rh OF bat and Wren goes and gets a lh OF bat with no power. He basically said that Uggla,Heyward,and Chipper can be the rh power. Let’s that’s one inconsistent (Uggla),one minor leager wanna be mlber (Heyward),and Mr. Brittle (Chipper). That’s like relying on 4 bald tires with 25 nailes in them to take you from Texas to Maine. Ain’t happening folks. Against Halladay,Hamels,Lee,& Oswalt in October the bat he didn’t sign will be the reason the Braves lose. Write it down clown !

I hate to compare Chipper to Jeter but he is doing the Braves no good right now. I know he is a competitor but he is only available for pinch hits and even those have been pretty bad. He should stay in Rome/Gwinnett a little longer. Right now, he is taking up a roster spot for his own ego.

Is it possible that you could give us some insight as to the feelings on Pastornicky, by the Braves organization? I can look at stats all day, but I have a long drive to see him play. What is the feels on his range, arm and overall fielding. I know they expect him to hit and that he has above average speed. Does he possess HR power or doubles power?
Is there any chance he is up by 8/31? He has to be as good at the bat as Gonzo or Lugo. Could he be Gonzo’s back-up?

If Constanza gets on, either he steals or is bunted over by the pitcher then you have Bourn and Prado.

You guys do understand that Costanza’s idiotic base running was huge today? He was doubled off first on a line drive that was right in front of him and he committed the cardinal sin of not making the first out at 3rd. Sorry, I’m not at all impressed with a guy who can run fast and hit a few well placed grounders. He has NO tools and isn’t a major leaguer. Mayber Fredi loves him enough to DFA Proctor. That will be Costanza’s biggest contribution to this team.

Why do everybody want Constanza batting second? Let Prado stay in the 2 hole and put Constanza at the end of the lineup so he can help balance out the bottom half of the lineup. Plus Freeman has been on fire hitting out in the third spot.

I can stand aggressive hustle, like the play at 3rd by Constanza is forgivable. It was a very close play. Hustle can energize a team. Did that play cost the Braves the game? NO! 1st and 3rd nobody out and second and third 1 out and nothing hit out of the infield cost the Braves.
People talk about attendance at Braves games, who wants to watch a team as boring they are? Heck, I am devoted Braves fan since ‘67. I have to drive 3 hours and watch them play a dull game (admit they are) for a minimum of $60(poor seats) plus $60 in gas. Then if it is a night game I get home around 2am. I don’t even watch the whole game first pitch to last on tv the way they play. I just keep a radio on while I do something or check back on the tv ever so often. Give me speed and entertainment! Yea if they get thrown out on a close play, hustle is excitement. It will win you more games then it loses. I will follow the Braves not matter what, I will stay awake until 1am when they play out west and yes I will go to an occasional game,but give me excitement and I probably double/triple the number of game I go to. The Phils (like them or not) is an exciting team. They have good team speed and make things happen. That is why they sell out. Yea I want to win foremost and that will put more people in the seats. How many times did the Braves win in the 90’s and still didn’t fill the stadium? Dull on field! No matter what I will have playoff tickets!!!

One regular player batting over .300 on a team only 6 behind the team with the best record in MLB.
I don’t know what that says about the rest of the NL.

I wouldn’t bat Costanza in the 2 hole behind Bourn. As much as I like spedd at the top of the order, I don’t want to go left, left to start the game. also as hot as Freddie and Uggla have been they have earned the 3 and 4 spots until Brian comes back.. Jason also finnaly just took the ball the other way last night and looked good doing it, I do see signs of him coming around.

If Braves can keep it close now, while multiple starters on DL, they will have full cannons to make that push in September. Watch out Phils.
And wait till Medlin comes back…..usually a 2 year turnaround from Tommy John, but when pitchers come back from that they seem to have stronger arm than before injury.

As for all these people griping about the stadium not being full. For those of us who live North of the Perimeter. We get off work at 5:00, go home, get the wife and kids (by this time it’s past 6:00). Hit 400 South to head to the game. With lovely Atlanta traffic, we get to the stadium at about 8:00. Park and get in to the stadium. In my seat by 8:30-8:45. So, I have paid for a ticket and I have missed the first 3-4 innings. Nt to mention the stadium is in the WORST part of Atlanta. Not worth my time or sanity to make that trek. Most of the people who attend the games, I guarentee, come from the northside of Atlanta. The stadium needs to be outside the peremiter on the northside and I promise you attendance would increase greatly. Just my two cents.

If the Braves staduim was in Marietta or Alpharetta it would sell out every game. the place is in crackville on the southside of the city with no MARTA train going there.
Sorry to break this to you but Marta does not have trains going to either Marietta or Alpharetta. I would put a new stadium for Braves at the old Doraville auto plant. Access via 2 interstates and Marta plus lots of acerage for parking and other retail/entertainment/shopping developement.

I think Constanzza should stay for the rest of the yr. When McClouth comes off the DL, he should rehab in Gwinnett for the remainder of the year. Constanzza can do one thing that the Braves will need and that is run. If only as a pinch runner in a play off games, he could be a great weapon.

At least that is what the sabermetrics website I used told me.
In seriousness, I like batting a pitcher 9. If you manage the way I do, you get your 1 hitter leading off more than once. If my 8 is on and my weakest hitter is up in 9, I make decisions based on the number of outs. If there are none, we bunt. If there is one, I steal because if he gets thrown out we have two outs and it doesn’t matter if the 9 gets out. If I have two outs, I let my nine hit knowing if he gets out, he is leading off.
It just fits my coaching style.

D. Lowe is such a liability. He needs to be out of the rotation, and into the bullpen. He is the Scott Proctor of the starting rotation. Lowe is totally toast, used up, and completely worthless. Freddie F. made a crap throw to the plate, and Ross’s throw to second, also cost a run. Find away to lose, Atlanta! We’ve got D. Lowe. That’s a huge step in that direction. What a team of losers!
What a crap group of players they put on the field.
