Could schafer and bourn both play in outfield? maybe bat schafer like 7th so that he can get better without the stress of being the lead off guy. prado at 3rd…schafer in left or right when chipper is in line-up….heyward is obviously not in the starting line-up when the trades are done.

This just in we traded Nate Mclouth to Kansas City for a pack of chicken and a case of beer to be named later

I’d take Kansas City reliever Greg Holland in a heartbeat for a case of beer and pack of chicken.

That doesn’t help us with Mclouth. Maybe we can toss in Scott Proctor for fries?

Get Upton out of TB and he will hit fine. He is hitting 100 points higher on the road…I would take him in a heart beat. You never know why someone may not hustle at times. Ever player has….he was like 22 years old …just 25.5 now…He’s the first one out of dug-out when his teammates do sometime good..How many times have Braves players just half a@@ it to 1st base.

And yet we stay 2nd rate for reasons I have explained on these blogs in the past days…

Frank Wren wants to stay afloat and rake in on all the profits from the success of the Braves historic playoff births.

If someone can come up with a PLAN to show Fran Wren that he would make more money winning a WS, then maybe he will pull the trigger on some of these so called un-touchables. Otherwise he wants to keep cheap avarage talent (some above avg talent), so he can continue making money every year. He beleives the risk of losing players to try to win a WS, is too risky and might lose his profits doing so. But if the Braves mess up and win the WS, it would be due to the Players and Coaches (NOT WREN)…

Im not a fan of Wren for sometime. Many of you dont know this, but you can search this out and read what he did. He intentionally told the Baltimore Oriols plan to take off, after Cal Ripken called and told them he was stuck in traffic and is running 10 minutes behind. Wren didnt want to be fined for not leaving or delaying flights (MONEY AGAIN). He was fired after ONE year as thier GM because he was also looked down on his staff and players. How is this guy here in ATL?

PhillieFan… you traded a A first baseman who is blocked for 3-4 years thanks to a silly extension Amaro gave the aging Howard last year. And Cosart has mixed reviews in A ball. Our pitchig prospects are all in AA or above (and more highly rated than Cosart) and 2 of them have made their ML debuts. And Pence isn’t THAT good. I understand what’s going on here. The Phillies are built to win today. Your window is closing. As long as you win the WS this year or next and Pence is good then you won’t regret it. But if not it will be a big failure.

As for the Braves, Uggla is coming around. If Heyward somehow comes around and we can get Bourn I think we are right there assuming McCann gets back healthy and Chipper can somehow take the field in October. The latter is a big if.

Kimbrel Rocks: The reason why we’ve been reluctant on Quentin is because he plays RF. We will not bench Jason Heyward. That would be the dumbest thing to do in trying to let him grow as a player and learn the league. We’re looking for a CF. You’ll keep seeing Heyward out there.

Heath: It was more the number of so-called “untouchable” players that a few players I asked were surprised by. They can understand Teheran, Vizcaino, guys with 100-mph arms or whatever, guys like Hanson a few years ago and Heyward and Freeman the past two years, being untouchable, but when you say four, then that number supposedly has gone to six, well, that’s a lot of guys to call untouchable.

And I don’t think they all are. If Braves pull off this trade for Bourn, I’m fairly certain one of those so-called untouchables is going to be in the deal.

Bobby Cox was notorious about not wanting to have players hurt and didn’t see swiping a base as being worth the risk of injury. Plus, back then, the braves were built for the long ball. Did the Braves use the word “untouchable”? Clearly no player is literally untouchable. Offering Mike Trout or Bryce Harper would get a team any Braves’ prospect or two that the Angels or Nats want. Don’t take it too literally.

Those six may have literally been untouchable for an above-average, second-division player in his late 20’s, like a Hunter Pence.
