What is going on in Philly? Are the Phils and Eagles trying to outdo each other? Is it possible that they get every relevant FA? Are they printing money up there?

Got to say, Uggla is one strong hombre. Out front and reaching down and crushing a ball to center, pretty damn impressive.

Bourn by himself, is not the answer. He is a lefty hitter, and we would still need a RH bat since Heyward is hitting nothing. Quentin would be the best solution. Coco Crisp is a RH hitter at least. Nothing we add, though, is going to catch the Phillies. So, is holding onto the wild card with a 4.5 game lead, worth losing all these top prospects. I say no.

Pence is solid but not great. He’s certainly not a $10 mill/yr guy like he will earn next year. Long term I’m 100% certain Philly regrets the deal. But for this year who knows. All depends on the postseason which Philly was going to make regardless of this deal. I’m kinda perplexed they gave up so much. With that starting pitching they are already heavy favorites. I don’t see Pence increasing their odds by that much.

FW doesn’t give a flying “you-know-what” what any of us think about his plan. But you can bet he damned sure has a plan. And it ain’t to overpay at the trade deadline when we are playing really good baseball with so many of our regulars in the training room.

I’m just curious but where did it say we had 4 or 6 untouchable prospects? I thought the tweet just said untouchables which could be Heyward and Freeman along with some prospects. Maybe I read it wrong. Untouchable could mean people in the minors and majors unless they specified one or the other.

We won’t get Quentin or Bourn. Sox fans would crucify the front office for the decision when they are this close without a huge return.
